PERCY S. GRAY, 90, of Red Bank died Aug. 8 at Avante at Red Bank. Born in Freehold, he had lived in Red Bank area since 1942. He was a retired self-employed carpet layer and supplier in Red Bank for 35 years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Red Bank. His memberships included the Oddfellows, Red Bank, and the Red Bank Police Reserve. His hobbies included travel, hunting and fishing. He was predeceased by his grandson, John Gray. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Schanck Gray of Red Bank; three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard G. and Verna Gray of Hampton, John N. and Valerie Gray of East Rockaway, N.Y., and Douglas S. and Andrea Gray of Lancaster, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Interment was at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold.

RITA T. GENTILE, 85, of Keansburg, died Aug. 8 at Bayside Manor, Keansburg. Born in Holmdel, she lived most of her life in Middletown and moved to Keansburg one year ago. She was a homemaker, as well as an avid tennis player. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Joseph Gentile of Keansburg; her son, Joseph Gentile of Ponder, Texas; her daughter, Mary Gehlhaus of Little Silver; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, followed by burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.

PIETRO "PETE" J. BRUNO, 51, of Little Silver died Aug. 8 at home. Born in Vallefiorita, Italy, he moved to the Monmouth County area in 1966. He was the owner and operator with his son Peter of Little Silver Auto Sales and Service since 1974. He was predeceased by his father, Saverio Bruno. He is survived by his wife, Jaye, and son, Peter, both of Little Silver; his mother, Rosa Procopio Bruno of Vallefiorita; his brother, Frank, of Lakeworth, Fla.; and one niece and nephew. A funeral Mass and burial were in Vallefiorita.

JOHN G. DRZEWIECKI, 65, of Manasquan died Aug. 18 at NHC Health Care, Murrells Inlet, S.C. Born in Newark, he lived in Martinsville and relocated to Manasquan in 2000. He was a chemist for Novartis Corp., East Hanover, retiring in 1993. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his wife, Isabel Drzewiecki of Manasquan; his brother, Leonard Drzewiecki of Fresno, Calif.; and his sister, Henriette Hallam of Long Branch. A funeral Mass was at Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. Entombment was at Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport. Memorial donations may be made to American Diabetes Association, 101 Eisenhower Parkway, Roseland 07068.

THELMA R. REYNOLDS GREENWOOD, 88, of Starkville, Miss., died Aug. 20 at Starkville Manor Nursing Home. Born in Red Bank, she resided in Shrewsbury and relocated to Starkville 21/2 years ago. She was a self-employed beautician. She was a member of the Shrewsbury Homesteaders. She was predeceased by her brother, Paul Reynolds. She is survived by her husband, Allen G. Greenwood of Starkville, Miss.; and her son and daughter-in-law, Allen G and Jane Britt Greenwood of Starkville. Interment was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Central New Jersey Chapter, 12 Roszel Road, Suite C203, Princeton, NJ 08540.

DIANE DORIS HEINZE CHARLES, 49, of Middletown died July 26 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Kearny, she lived in Middletown and Red Bank, and moved back to Middletown in 1997. She was an operations and facilities manager for United Teletech Federal Credit Union, Tinton Falls. She was a graduate of Glassboro State College. She was a member of the American Littoral Society, Sandy Hook. She was predeceased by her husband, James J. Charles in 1999. She is survived by her parents, Frederick and Doris Hoagland Heinze, of Middletown; her brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Donna M. Heinze, of Middletown; her sister and brother-in-law, Patti and Don Charles, of Toms River; her sister-in-law, Nancy, and husband, Tony Santos, of Forked River; her godparents, William and Lillie Hoagland; and a niece and nephew. Memorial donations may be made to the American Littoral Society, Sandy Hook, Highlands 07732.

ROBERT HENRY LAFFERTY, 82, of Middletown died Aug. 5 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Trenton, he lived in Rumson prior to moving to Middletown two years ago. He was a retired vice president of the chemical division for W.R. Grace Inc., New York City. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia A. Gerrish Lafferty, in 1993. He is survived by a daughter, Chris E. O'Halloran of Steamboat Springs, Colo.; three sons, Mark R. Lafferty of Lafayette, Calif., James P. Lafferty of Tinton Falls, and Robert G. Lafferty of Middletown; two sisters, Dorothy Pearce of Mendham, and Margaret Eller of Ormond Beach, Fla.; and four grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 20 Riverside Ave., Red Bank 07701; or the American Cancer Society, 801 Broad St., Shrewsbury 07702.

LEON A. STROLLO SR., 73, of Sea Bright died July 26 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Long Branch, he resided there 50 years, and in Ocean Township for 20 years prior to moving to Sea Bright. He was a retired from the Long Branch-New York Railroad having worked there as a traffic manager for 18 years. He previously worked for Stearns Transportation for 19 years. He was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II, as well as the Signal Corps. His hobbies included football, and he was a lifelong New York Giants fan. He is survived by two sons, Angelo Strollo of Eatontown, and Leon A. Strollo Jr. of Sea Bright; his brother, Carmen Strollo of Florida; and his sister, Margurite Bossone of Brielle. A funeral Mass was offered at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, followed by interment at Mount Carmel Cemetery, West Long Branch. Memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson's Disease and Information and Referral Center, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, 1 Robert Wood Johnson Place, New Brunswick 08901.

ANN S. KIELY of Deal died Aug. 3 at home. Born in Monmouth Beach, she lived in Long Branch prior to moving to Deal in 1959. She was predeceased by her husband, John F. Kiely Sr., in 1966. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John F. and Carolyn Kiely Jr. of Rumson; her daughter, Kathleen Kiely Stafford of Columbus, Ohio; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. Interment was at Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport.

W. JEFFREY MORSE, 61, of Shrewsbury died July 27 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in the Navesink section of Middletown, he was a lifelong resident of Monmouth County. He was vice president of Murphy Realty, Tinton Falls. Prior to that, he was the owner of Jeff Morse Realty Co., Tinton Falls. He was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Sutera Morse of Shrewsbury; two brothers, Henry J. Morse Jr. of New Port Richey, Fla., and Robert S. Morse of Loveland, Colo.; two sisters, Virginia Morse Denis of New Orleans, and Jeanne Marie Morse Kerwin of Point Pleasant; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial was at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank, followed by interment at Atlantic View Cemetery, Manasquan. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 801 Broad St., Shrewsbury 07702; or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

ETHEL M. EMERY SCHLICTING, 95, of Shrewsbury died July 21 at home. Born in Vermont, she lived in Matawan; Deland, Fla., for 28 years; and Long Branch, until moving to Shrewsbury. She was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her first husband, Alexander F. May in 1986; her husband, Elmer H. Schlicting in 1990; and her grandson, David R. May in 1978. She is survived by two sons, Richard M. May of Coconut Creek, Fla., and Alex S. May of Port Orange, Fla.; five grandchildren, Patience Merkel of Middletown, Nancy Parker of New Zealand, Richel Papapietro of York, Pa., Kathy Kluin of Shrewsbury, with whom she lived, and Dorothy Greene of Highlands; eight great-grandchildren; and one great great-granddaughter. Memorial donations may be made to The Center for Hospice Care at Monmouth Medical Center, 300 Second Ave., Long Branch 07740 or Alzheimer’s Association Greater N.J. JOHN J. MAZZACCO SR., 65, of Little Silver, died June 24 at home. Born in Long Branch, he previously lived in Red Bank and moved to Little Silver in 1963. He was the proprietor of Mazzacco’s Pharmacy, Long Branch, as well as the Long Branch Broadcasting Company, WRLB Radio Station 107. He was a member of the Long Branch Rotary Club and a Director of Welfare for the City of Long Branch. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Mazzacco, in 1983. He is survived by his wife, Susan Hall Mazzacco of Little Silver; three sons and one daughter-in-law, John Mazzacco Jr. of Sea Bright, Michael Mazzacco of Red Bank, and James and Mary Mazzacco of Long Branch; one granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass was held at Holy Trinity Church, Long Branch. Entombment was at Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport.
