Harriet May Savitz
Bradley Beach resident Harriet May Savitz died on Sunday, July 20 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

She was 75 years old.

Harriet had over 24 books published by major publishers. Her book, “Run, Don’t Walk, ” was made into an ABC Afterschool Special produced by Henry Winkler. Her book, “Fly, Wheels, Fly, ” was nominated for the Dorothy Canfield Fisher Award. Her young adult novel, “The Lionhearted, ” was listed as one of the most popular books in The University of Iowa’s Books for Young Adults. She received the PSLA 1981 Outstanding Pennsylvania Author Award and in celebration of the International Year of Disabled Persons, receiving recognition for her nonfiction young adult book, “Wheelchair Champions.”

She has contributed to 22 books in the Chicken Soup series. She was a regular contributor to the Crossroads section of the Asbury Park Press and many newspapers and magazines around the country.

She will continue to live on through her words.

She is survived by her children, Beth Laliberte and her husband, Todd, and Steve Savitz and his wife, Elizabeth. She has four grandchildren, Ryan, Jenny, Jake and Ben.

Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Ocean, was in charge of the arrangements.

David Hill Sr.
Brielle resident David Hill Sr. died peacefully at his home on Saturday.

He was 64 years old.

Born in Orange, he had lived in Point Pleasant Beach and has resided in Brielle for 17 years. He graduated in 1961 from Manasquan High School and from Gettysburg College in 1965.

Mr. Hill was the president of Hilman, Inc., Marlboro.

Predeceased by his mother, Jean Gebhardt Hill, surviving to cherish his memory are three sons, David Hill, Jr. and his wife Linda, of Needham, Mass., Jeffrey R. Hill and Christopher T. Hill and his wife Lisa, all of Point Pleasant; his father, Norman Hill and his wife Thelma, of Vero Beach, Fla.; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Susan and Robin Gillett, of Union and Nancy and Bruce Wasserman, of Brooklyn; four grandchildren, Zoe, Maya, Taylor, and Ryan; his former wife, Lauretta Ayers and her husband Robert, of Toms River; and many dear friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, July 26 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hilman, Inc., 12 Timber Lane, Marlboro [For directions, please visit the Web site www. hilmanrollers.com/pdfs/Directions.pdf] to share their fondest memories and celebrate a life well lived.

In lieu of flowers, contributions made in his memory to the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation, One East Wacker Drive, Suite 2430, Chicago, IL 60601-1905, [www. dystonia-foundation.org], would be appreciated.

Cremation services were arranged by the Pable-Evertz Funeral Home, Point Pleasant.

Walter W. Watson Jr.
Howell resident Walter W. Watson Jr., formerly of Sea Girt, died peacefully on Monday, July 21 at his residence with his loving family by his side.

He was 76 years old.

Born in Scranton, Pa., he had lived in Sea Girt before moving to Howell 32 years ago. Mr. Watson had been employed as the Chief of Security for NJ Bell Telephone Company, Newark for many years prior to his retiring.

He had also served as a Paratrooper in the U.S. Army during his military career. His family had stated that the real joy in Walter’s life came from riding his motorcycles all over the area when he had the time.

He was predeceased by his son, Walter W. Watson III, in April 2008.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia Fantry Watson; his devoted children and their spouses, Brian and Beth Watson, of Wall Township, and Laura and Gary Sylvester, of Toms River; and his two beloved grandchildren, Brianna Watson and Zachary Sylvester.

All services will be private according to his wishes and a committal will be scheduled for a later date.

Condolences may be forwarded in memory of Walter in care of Brian Watson, 238 Love Lane, Wall, 07719. Arrangements are under the direction of the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Highway 35 at New Bedford Road, Wall.

Eleanor Kelly
Manasquan resident Eleanor Kelly died on Wednesday, July 16 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, in Neptune.

She was 90 years old.

Born and raised in Jersey City, she was a resident there before coming the Manasquan in 1986. Ms. Kelly was employed with the Colgate Palmolive Company in Jersey City for 37 years before retiring.

She was a former parishioner of St. Aloysius Church in Jersey City and had been a long time communicant of St. Denis Church in Manasquan.

She was predeceased by her niece, Eileen Burkey and her husband, Gerard; and John Lennox, husband of her niece, Catherine.

She is survived by her nieces, Catherine Lennox, Mary Margaret Foley and her husband, Brian, Patricia Dettlinger and her husband, S. James, Ann Marie Olson, Loretta Szeci, Mary Jackiewicz and her husband, Joseph, Nancy Conway and her husband, Charles, Mary Jane Brusgard and her husband, Andrew, Karen Doles and her husband, Ronald and Maureen Freeman and her husband, Edward; and her nephews, George Walls and his wife, Patricia and Joseph Kelly and his wife, Kathy. She also leaves many great-nieces and nephews.

Burial was held at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Providence Clinic, 1228 Fifth Ave., Neptune, 07753.

Anthony Stadtmiller
Wall resident Anthony “Tony” Stadtmiller died on Monday, July 14 in Lakewood.

He was 30 years old.

He was a waiter at Viva’s Restaurant, Belmar. Tony loved to cook and was an avid poker player. His best friends were his brother and sisters. Born in Charlevoix, Mich., he lived there before moving to Wall.

Surviving are a brother, Ryan Abbott, of Wall; three sisters, Sarah Stadtmiller, of Ocean Grove, Rachel Abbott, of Bradley Beach, and Mary Ball, of Michigan; his mother, Patricia Abbott, of Wall; his father, Craig Stadtmiller, of Michigan; his stepfather for 26 years, Robert Abbott, of Wall; his maternal grandmother, Yolanda Ryan Sharkey, of Florida; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his name to the S.P.C.A. or the Juvenile Diabetes foundation.

Francioni, Taylor & Lopez Funeral Home, Neptune, was in charge of the arrangements.

Peter W. Baubles Jr.
Wall resident Peter W. Baubles Jr. died on June 6 in Stafford County, Va.

He was 64 years old.

Peter was a graduate of Livingston High School in 1961, and Montclair State College in 1967. Upon his graduation, he was a teacher and coach for several years before becoming a small business owner in Monmouth County. Peter was the owner and operator of Frank N. Stein, Long Branch. Besides his business, Peter was active with his children with the local sports organizations.

Peter was predeceased by his parents, Peter Baubles Sr. and Helen Frances Woolley Baubles; and a son, Colin Baubles.

He is survived by his children, two sons, Evan and Dylan Baubles, of Little Egg Harbor; three daughters, Alyssa Baubles, of Belmar, Kimberly Baubles, of Hoboken, and Jeanette Baubles, of Spring Lake Heights; a brother, Donald Baubles and his wife, Ellen, of Auburn, Ala.; and three nephews, Flint, Joseph and Peter.

A visitation will be held at the Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan, on Sunday, July 27 from 1 to 4 p.m.

A memorial service will begin at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will be private at Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Baubles Family Fund, C/O Manasquan Savings Bank, 2221 Landmark Place, Manasquan, 08736.

Colin M. Baubles
Wall resident Colin M. Baubles died on June 6 in Stafford County, Va.

He was 21 years old.

Colin was born in Point Pleasant and raised in Wall. He was a graduate of Wall High School, and attended Brookdale Community College where he was on the dean’s list. Colin planned on attending Rowan University in September to major in media arts.

Colin was predeceased by his father, Peter W. Baubles Jr.

He is survived by his mother and her husband, Donna and David Fitzpatrick, of Little Egg Harbor; two brothers, Evan and Dylan, of Little Egg Harbor; six sisters, Jeanette, of Spring Lake Heights, Kimberly, of Hoboken, Alyssa, of Belmar, Breanne, Emma and Lily, of Little Egg Harbor; and his maternal grandparents, Paul and Carol Yuro, of Brick.

A visitation will be held at the Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan, on Sunday, July 27 from 1 to 4 p.m.

A memorial service will begin at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Richard W. Spicer
Mantoloking resident Richard W. Spicer died Monday, Dec. 17 in his home surrounded by his family.

He was 94 years old.

Born and raised in Newark, he graduated from Central High School, where he played football and other sports.

Later he lived in Livingston and in Harding Township, moving to Mantoloking in 1988. He also had wintered in Fort Myers, Fla. for several years.

A United States Army, World War II veteran, Mr. Spicer went to work for the Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Company, Newark, in 1933 and retired after 44 years with the company.

He was former member of the Livingston Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon, and was a former president of the Livingston PTA. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, traveling, and the shore in general.

He was predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Debra M. Campbell-Spicer.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Helen Jacob Spicer; his sons, Jeffrey A. Spicer and his wife, Amy, of Apex, N.C. and Richard W. Spicer Jr., of Silver Beach; his grandchildren, Keirstin Belson and her husband, Bill, Matt Spicer and his wife, Janet, Jessica Spicer, Kit Spicer and his wife, Maggie, and Derek Spicer; and his great-grandchildren, Brett, Claire, Ty, Drew, Ryan and Erica.

Friends may visit with the family from 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at The Pable-Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road, where at 10:30 a.m. a service will be held, followed be entombment at Holmdel Mausoleum. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
