Antoinette D’Lacovo Ravo
Flanders resident Antoinette D’Lacovo Ravo, formerly of Point Pleasant, died Saturday, May 3, in the Hackettstown Regional Medical Center.

She was 92 years old.

Born in Newark to the late Joseph and Catherine Casciano D'Lacovo, she had lived in the Vailsburg section and for 20 years in Point Pleasant before moving to Flanders.

She had worked at F. W. Woolworth and Co. in Newark and Irvington for 25 years.

A beloved wife and loving mother, she was predeceased by her husband Louis Ravo; her daughter and son-in-law, Elisa and Angelo Maione; and her brothers, Pasquale and John D'Lacovo.

She is survived by two sons, Vincent Ravo and his wife, Anna, of Flanders and Joseph Ravo, of Nutley; her grandchildren and their spouses, Brian Maione, Paul and Kelly Maione, Michael Maione, Cheryl Ann and James Lebo, JacQueline and Richard Geary, Vincent and Kristin Ravo, and Gina Ravo; three great-grandchildren, Russell, John, and Hailey; and her sister-in-law, Josephine D'Lacovo.

The Pable-Evertz Funeral Home, Point Pleasant was in charge of arrangements. Interment took place at St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood.

As an expression of sympathy, the family suggests contributions be made to the Forest Manor Health Care Center, P.O. Box 283, Hope, 07844.

Julia E. Gwiazda Rajkowski
Brick resident Julia E. Gwiazda Rajkowski, formerly of Point Pleasant, died Saturday, May 3, in Ocean Medical Center, Brick Township.

She was 95 years old.

She was born New Britton, Conn., and lived in Kearney and Point Pleasant, before moving to Brick six years ago.

Mrs. Rajkowski was a homemaker.

She was a parishioner of St. Martha’s Roman Catholic Church, Point Pleasant, where she was formerly very active with the Beehive and the Rosary Altar Society.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She was predeceased by her husband, Leo E., in 1989; by her son, Richard R., in 1983; and by her brothers and sisters, Jennie Liss, Mary Gwiazda, Cecilia Sermet, Walter, Bruno and Henry Gwiazda.

She is survived by a son, Leon E. Rajkowski and his wife, Kathleen, of Toms River; two grandchildren, Susan Cole and David Rajkowski; six great-grandchildren, Frank, Thomas, Kathryn, Jack, Joanna and Christian; and several nieces and nephews.

The O’Brien Funeral Home, Brick, handled the arrangements. Burial took place at St. Catharine’s cemetery in Wall.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in her honor to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942; or to the American Cancer Society, 1035 Hooper Ave. Toms River, 08753.

Karen E. Walski Curtis
Brick resident Karen E. Walski Curtis, formerly of Point Pleasant, died Wednesday, April 30 in Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.

She was 41 years old.

Born in Point Pleasant, she was a lifelong resident of Brick.

Mrs. Curtis was employed as a teacher’s aide at Veterans Memorial Middle School in Brick. Always devoted to helping children, she worked during summers at camps for autistic children.

Her loving kindness toward others and her many good deeds were offered without need of praise and were often done anonymously.

She is survived by her loving husband, Larry Curtis; her son, Brian Lawrence; and daughter, Carli Jewe; her parents, Catherine and Peter Walski; her mother- and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Curtis; her brother- and sister-in-law, Paul and Laura Walski, her sister and brother-in-law; Cathy and James Wallace; and her brothers-in-law and their wives, Tom and June, Kevin and Patty, Bruce and Eileen, Michael and Michelle, and Billy and Erin Curtis.

She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Joey, Amanda, Tommy, Kevin, Katie, Jackie, Peter, Jenna, Erica and Riley; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved her dearly. Karen was known by many and loved by all.

Committal took place at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may made to an education fund to be established for Brian and Carli Curtis c/o O’Brien Funeral Home 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick, 08724.

Maureen J. Sullivan
Brick resident Maureen J. Sullivan, formerly of Point Pleasant, died Sunday, May 4 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick.

She was 46 years old.

Born in Point Pleasant, to the late William and Joan Cooke Sullivan, she was a lifelong area resident.

Maureen graduated from Point Pleasant Borough High School, Ocean County College, and from Georgian Court University.

A United States Navy veteran, she currently worked at Freehold Toyota as an auto lot attendant.

She was predeceased by her brother, Stephen Sullivan.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her sister, Patricia Sullivan, of Brick; her brother, Scott Sullivan of West Virginia; her maternal grandmother, Stella Cooke; her niece, Stephanie; and many friends.

A memorial service is being planned for a later date. Private cremation was arranged by the Pable-Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant.

Lillian Ann Smith
Lillian Ann Smith, 73, of Hernando, Fla., with family in Manasquan, died June 18, at the Hospice Care Unit at Citrus Memorial Hospital.

Born June 20, 1936, Lillian is the daughter of the late William and Lillian Lubeck, North Plainfield.

She was a teacher’s aide for Manasquan Elementary School for 21 years. She and her husband retired to Citrus Hills in 2003. Her favorite things in life were her family and friends and the joy she received in loving and caring for them.

Lillian is survived by William H. Smith, Sr., her husband of 53 years, her children William and his wife Colleen, Manasquan, Donna and her husband Lenny, Manasquan, and Thomas and his wife Susan, Inverness, Fla., brothers William Lubeck and his late wife Beverly, Jupiter, Fla., the late Richard Lubeck and his wife Cynthia, Watchung, and Charles and Carol Lubeck, Manasquan, and ten grandchildren: Maggie, Chip, Courtney, Sammi, Kelly, Jamie, James, Kristine, Michelle and Danny. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 25, at the Heinz Funeral Home & Cremation, 2507 Hwy 44 West, Inverness.

A second memorial will be held at 1 p.m. on July 11, at the Manasquan Elks Lodge, Manasquan.

In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Citrus County Hospice. Heinz Funeral Home & Cremation, Inverness, Fla, was in charge of arrangements.

Edward L. Gashlin
Edward L. Gashlin, 86, of Manasquan, passed away peacefully on Monday at home with his family by his side.

Born in Newark, he lived in Irvington for 40 years before moving briefly to Howell. After a lifetime of summers at the shore, Manasquan finally became his home in 1994.

Mr. Gashlin retired after 40 years as Office Manager at Englehard Industries in Newark.

He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 61 years Charlotte [Scherer] in 2008, his brother Walter and sister Mary Kunz.

He is survived by three sons, James and his wife Arlene, Thomas, and Edward and his wife Patricia, and six grandchildren, James, Nicole, Jeffrey, Ryan, Tara, and Christopher. Mr. Gashlin also leaves nieces, nephews and many friends. He will be dearly missed by all those who loved him.

Visitation will be today, Thursday, June 24, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, 39 South Street, Manasquan. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 25, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Atlantic View cemetery in Manasquan.

Mark Joseph DeCotiis
Mark J. DeCotiis, formerly of Belmar, age 53, left this world suddenly at his home in Cave Creek, Ariz., on Monday, June 7.

Mark was born on February 24, 1957, in Patterson. He graduated from Asbury Park High School, class of 1976. He lived in Belmar and Wall Township for many years before moving to Arizona 11 years ago.

Mark was employed at Freehold Music for many years before moving to Arizona and becoming an employee of Steinway Piano in Phoenix as a master piano tuner and technician.

Mark had a lifelong love and passion for music and was not only a musician/songwriter but also spent many hours recording Orchestras and Choir groups in Arizona. He had a love of nature and enjoyed raising horses with his wife and daughters. He will always be remembered for his contagious smile and cheerful disposition. He will be greatly missed by all.

Mark was predeceased by his father Joseph DeCotiis, his sister, Donna E. DeCotiis and his step-sister Gloria Jean Wilson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 18 years Theresa, her daughter Krystal Melody and their daughter Dawn Star, all at home.

He is also survived by his mother Gretchen and father Robert P. Callanan, as well as his beloved brother Robert A. DeCotiis, Belmar, his sister Elaine Spinosa, Spring Lake Heights and Timothy Callanan, Colleen Bishop, Joseph Callanan, Gary Callanan, all of Florida, Robert Callanan Jr., Howell, Kathy Callanan, Forked River and George Callanan, Toms River, along with many nieces and nephews.

There will be a memorial service to celebrate Mark’s life on July 17 at noon. For anyone planning to attend, please call 732-681-2113 for further information. All are welcome.

Donations may be made in his memory to his daughter Dawn to help with her future education.

Anna M. Bongiovanni
Anna M. Bongiovanni, 99, of Spring Lake, peacefully passed away Thursday, June 17, at the Geraldine Thompson Care Facility in Wall Township. Born in Jersey City, She moved with her husband, Theodore, to their beloved “shore” in 1946.

Mrs. Bongiovanni was predeceased by her husband “Teddy.”

She is survived by her daughter Julianne, Spring Lake, her son Theodore, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Kathie, Little Egg Harbor, a sister, Johanna, a brother, Demi, four grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one great grandson and many loving nieces and nephews.

An interment service will be held on June 26, at 10 a.m. in The Chapel in St. Catharine’s Cemetery, Chicago Boulevard, Sea Girt.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in memory of Theodore Bongiovanni, Sr. can be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America [alzfdn.org], or mailed to 322 8th Ave., 7th Floor, New York, N.Y. 10001. O’ Brien Funeral Home of Wall Township is in charge of arrangements.
