John Lillo
Lavallette resident John Lillo died Thursday, April 27 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick Township.

He was 80 years old.

Born in Paterson, Mr. Lillo lived in Wayne and Wanaque before moving to Lavallette.

He was employed for 39 years as an electrical engineer with ITT, Nutley, before retiring in 1986. Later, he was employed with the Quarry Restaurant, Hamburg.

He attended St. Francis Church, and was a member of Our Lady of Queen of Peace, Lavallette.

He was a member of the Quarter Century Club of ITT.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving during World War II.

He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Rose Suizzo Lillo, his brother, C. Joseph Lillo, and his sister, Jeanette Calvitti.

Surviving are his wife, Helen D’Aloisio; two sons, John A., Lavallette, and Joseph, Lawrenceville, Ga.; two daughters, Rosemarie Reynolds, Pompton Plains, and Kathleen Cahill, Hamburg; seven grandchildren, Christopher, Michael, Matthew, Michele, Stephanie, Johnnie and Bobby; and one great-granddaughter, Amanda.

Funeral arrangements were from Moore’s Home for Funerals, Wayne.

Contributions in Mr. Lillo’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.

Louise B. Berko
Bay Head resident Louise Budenz Berko died Saturday, April 29 in the Claremont Center, Point Pleasant.

She was 89 years old.

Born in Indiana, Mrs. Berko lived in Rahway before residing in Bay Head for 29 years.

She was a homemaker, and was the owner/operator, along with her husband, of Berko’s Market, Rahway. She was also employed as a bookkeeper with Star Uniform Company, Hillside.

While living in Rahway, Mrs. Berko was instrumental in fund-raising for both the construction of the new YMCA swimming pool and a new cafeteria at St. Mary’s School.

She was a beloved wife and mother.

She was predeceased by her husband, John Berko.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Paula Berko, Bay Head, and Lawrence and Heather Berko, Lahaina, Hawaii; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and Elvin Giordano, Brielle, and Patricia and William Tombs, Clark; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Private funeral arrangements were from the Pable-Evertz Funeral Home, Point Pleasant.

Gerald M. Loffredo
Brick Township resident Gerald M. Loffredo, whose daughter lives in Point Pleasant, died Friday, April 28 in Laurelton Village Nursing Home.

He was 73 years old.

Born in Newark, Mr. Loffredo lived in Kearny before moving to Brick 35 years ago.

He was employed for many years as a warehouseman with Brockway Glass, Freehold, prior to being employed for many years as a security officer with Seneca Security, Brick.

He was a member of the Church of the Visitation, Brick.

He was a member of Mended Hearts, Ocean County, and the Knights of Columbus Council No. 6201 Howell /Jackson.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Maureen Judith Loffredo; three brothers, Carmen, Louis and Edward Loffredo; and two sisters, Della Loffredo and Angelina San Giovanni.

Surviving are his wife, Maureen Miller Loffredo; two daughters, Isabel Loffredo, Point Pleasant, and Anne Marie Loffredo, Highlands; one brother, Anthony Loffredo, of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were from the Weatherhead Young Funeral Home, Brick Township.

Thomas D. Walsh
Toms River resident Thomas D. Walsh, formerly of Lavallette, died Thursday, April 27 in his home.

He was 61 years old.

Born in Rahway, Mr. Walsh lived in Lavallette before moving to Toms River 40 years ago.

He was employed as a salesman.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Toms River.

He was a member of Sunrise Lodge F. and A.M., Toms River.

He was predeceased in 1987 by his father, Harold.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Kristen Walsh, Middletown, Del.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Maureen Walsh, and Jennifer and Shawn Styles, Beachwood; his mother, Geneveive Zawacki Walsh, West Point Island, Lavallette; two brothers, Jerry Walsh, Mt. Laurel, and Brian Walsh, Medford; one sister, Carolyn Werder, Toms River; and two grandchildren, Christopher and Madison.

Funeral arrangements were from the Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, Toms River.

Linda F. Twigg
Jackson resident Linda F. Wagner Twigg, whose mother and sister live in Point Pleasant, died Sunday, April 30 in her home.

She was 54 years old.

Born in Newark, Mrs. Twigg grew up in South Toms River, and lived in Lakewood before moving to Jackson in 1984.

She was a 1971 graduate of Toms River South High School.

She was employed as a waitress with Romeo’s Restaurant, Old Bridge.

She was predeceased in 1973 by her father, Fred Wagner.

Surviving are her husband, Steven Twigg; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Fred and Patricia Corcoran, Cape Coral, Fla., and Steven Twigg, Jackson; one daughter, Kelly Forman, Cape Coral, Fla.; her mother, Veronica Hanley Wagner, Point Pleasant; two brothers, Fred Wagner and his wife Antoinette, Whiting, Manchester, and Eric Wagner and his companion Wanda, Cape Coral, Fla.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Nancy and Rick Degen, Point Pleasant, and Denise and John Kaba, Jackson; and three grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are from the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, “DeBow Chapel,” Jackson. Visiting will be 3 to 7 p.m. today in the funeral home, with a funeral service at 6:30 p.m. E-mail condolences to www.ryanfuneral home.com.

Dominick J. Palumbo
Brick Township resident Dominick Joseph Palumbo, formerly of Point Pleasant, died Monday, May 1 in Brick.

He was 88 years old.

Born and raised in Asbury Park, Mr. Palumbo was a resident of Point Pleasant and Brick for the past 58 years.

He attended Asbury Park High School.

He was the owner of Palumbo’s Appliance Center, Point Pleasant Beach. Dominick, or “Professor” and “Pops,” as he was more affectionately known by his family and friends, devoted his entire life to his family, even through his profession. He was a business visionary, opening Palumbo’s Appliance Center in 1942 on Arnold Avenue in Point Pleasant Beach. In 1957, the business moved to its current location on Richmond Avenue where it has become a family cornerstone as Dominick passed his establishment on to his sons where it has flourished ever since.

Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Eleanor Alexander Palumbo; three sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Louise, Brick, Patrick and Maria, Point Pleasant, and Samuel and Joanne, Point Pleasant Beach; one daughter and son-in-law, Carol and William Northrup, Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.; his sister, Nancy Bruscilla, Toms River; and five grandsons, Dominick, Christopher, Michael, Samuel and John.

Funeral arrangements were from the Colonial Funeral Home, Brick.

Paul M. Borshowsky
Howell resident Paul M. Borshowsky, whose daughter lives in Point Pleasant, died Sunday, April 30 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick.

He was 73 years old.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Borshowsky lived in Brick before moving to Howell six years ago.

He was employed for many years as a truck driver with the road department for the State of New Jersey, Wall Township, retiring eight years ago.

He was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church, Brick.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Surviving are his wife, Agnes Grogaard Borshowsky; seven daughters, Edna Smith, of Florida, Paula Roberts, Manchester, Carol Chonto, of Virginia, Ann Borshowsky, Point Pleasant, Michelle Castanova, of Arizona, Mary borshowsky, of Howell, and Deborah Borshowsky, of Manchester; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are from the Laurelton Memorial Funeral Home, Brick. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today in St. Thomas Lutheran Church, Brick. Interment will follow in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
