DORIS K. MENARD, 79, of OCEAN GROVE, died Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at home. She had worked as the manager for Mallards Landing Assisted Living, St. Clair, Michigan until retiring. Born in Germantown, PA, she had lived in Wildwood, NJ, then in Michigan before moving here six years ago. She was predeceased by a sister May Klug. Surviving are a son, Joseph A. Morton, Jr., of St. Clair, MI, a daughter, Linda L. Locke and her husband, John Sutton of Ocean Grove, a brother, George Kendrick of Cape May Court House, NJ, two grandchildren and their spouses, Shawn M. Dennis and his wife Beth and Timothy Dennis and his wife Katie, two great grand children, Collen Elizabeth Dennis and Brian Patrick Dennis and many nieces and nephews. A memorial ceremony was held at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove on Friday aft., March 25th at 4:00. There were no calling hours.

ROBERT C. KLEMM, Jr., 96, of NEPTUNE, died March 25, 2005, at the Imperial Care Center, Neptune. He had worked as an electrician for Local #3, New York, N. Y. for many years until retiring. Born in New York City, he had lived in the Shore Area since 1991. Surviving are a son, Robert C. Klemm and his wife, Mary of Springfield, Mass., a daughter, Barbara Simonovich of Naples, Fla., and a sister-in-law, Claire Dancio. No funeral ceremony has been scheduled at this time. Cremation will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.

FRANCES L. ZEISS, 94, of OCEAN GROVE, died Thursday, March 31, 2005, at the Manor-by-the-Sea, Ocean Grove. She had worked as a supervisor for the Prudential Life Insurance Co., Newark, N. J. until retiring. Miss Zeiss had attended St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Ocean Grove. Born in Belleville, N. J., she had lived there all her life until moving to Ocean Grove in 1992. Surviving is a nephew John Campbell of Old Saybrook, CT. Services were private. There were no calling hours.

ALVA STOLK, 98, of RANDOLPH, died Saturday, April 2, 2005, at the Manor-by-the-Sea, Ocean Grove. She had worked as a salesperson for FAO Schwartz, Saddle River, N. J. until retiring. Mrs. Stolk was born in Paterson, N. J. and was predeceased by her husband, Cornelius Stolk in 1990. Surviving is a daughter, Judy Alberta of Randolph. No funeral ceremony has been scheduled at this time. There were no calling hours.

OLGA KOLENDO, 92, of NEPTUNE, died Monday, April 11, 2005, at the Imperial Care Center, Neptune. She had worked as a seamstress for the Playtex Company, Paramus, NJ until retiring. She was a communicant of the Roman Catholic Church of the Ascension, Bradley Beach. Born in Poland, she had lived in Jersey City, then Bradley Beach for 25 years before moving here four years ago. She was predeceased by her husband, Jan Kolendo in 2002. Surviving are a daughter, Janina Muller of Fort Myers, Fla., three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A graveside interment ceremony was held at Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery, Doylestown, PA on Wed. aft., April 13th at 2:00 PM with burial following. Friends were invited to call at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove on Wednesday morning from 10 -11.

ISABEL L. RILEY, 91, of SPRING LAKE HEIGHTS, died Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at home. She had worked as a physical education teacher at the Piscataway High School for twenty three years until retiring in 1980. Prior to that, she taught in the South. Miss Riley was a graduate of Neptune High School and the University of Alabama. She loved fishing and was an avid New York Yankee fan. Born in Newark, NJ, she had lived in Ocean Grove for over 75 years before moving here four years ago. Surviving are a sister, Mary E. Height of Spring Lake Heights, a niece, Patricia Stockbridge, a nephew, Robert Height, a grandniece Amy, two grandnephews Matthew and Paul, a great grandniece, Sarah and a great grandnephew Zach. A graveside ceremony was held at the Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls, on Thurs. morn., April 21st at 11:00 with burial following. There were no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to the Visiting Nurses Association of Central NJ, 141 Bodman Place, Red Bank, N. J. 07701 would be appreciated.

IRENE K. SMITH, 99, of OCEAN GROVE, formerly of Oakhurst, died Saturday, April 30, 2005, at the Manor-by-the-Sea, Ocean Grove. Mrs. Smith was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Oakhurst. While living in Eatontown, she was active in the Eatontown Presbyterian Church. Born in Elberon in 1906, she had lived in Eatontown for 15 years, prior to moving to Oakhurst in 1953, before moving here six years ago. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth I. Smith in 1999, and by her parents, James and Ella White King. Surviving are two sons, Kenneth I. Smith of Long Valley, NJ, and David C. Smith of Oakhurst, two daughters, Nancy Emmons of Clarksville, NH, and Jo Ann Alexander of Lawrenceville, NJ, eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. A funeral ceremony was held at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove on Wed. morn., May 4th at 11:00, with burial following at Glenwood Cemetery, West Long Branch. Friends were invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 - 11.

CONSTANCE O'BRIEN, 79, of OCEAN GROVE, died Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at her residence. Born in Naples, Italy, she is survived by her husband, John M. O'Brien, a son, John Jeffrey O'Brien of NY, three daughters, Lorraine O'Brien-Rosenblatt of Calif., Arlene O'Brien of NJ and Roseanne O'Brien-Vogel of NY and two grandchildren. No funeral ceremony has been scheduled at this time. There were no calling hours.
Constance O'Brien 79, of Ocean Grove died Wednesday, May 11 at her home. She was as inspirational as she was a devoted wife to John, mother to Roseanne, Lorraine, Arlene and Jeff, grandmother to Evan and Emma and a friend to many. A 'Celebration of her life' gathering will take place in late June.

RICHARD F. GIBBONS, 88, of OCEAN GROVE, died Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at his beloved home, Pioneer Cottage. Mr. Gibbons was a noted historian who with his wife Florence authored a book, The History of Ocean Grove, in 1939. For many years, he wrote Retrospect a column in the Ocean Grove Times. Mr. Gibbons, a lifelong resident of Ocean Grove; began his career as a reporter while still attending Neptune High School. Upon graduating in 1932, he began working for the Ocean Grove Times. He then moved on to the Asbury Park Press, where he rose through the ranks to become assistant city editor. While at the Press, be opened bureaus in Red Bank and Toms River. He also taught journalism in local high schools. In 1953 he changed careers and became the business manager for the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association. His last full time job was as business manager for the Borough of Allenhurst from which he retired in 1983. A member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church for more than 65 years, he actively served on the music and finance committees. If there was a building campaign or a special fund-raising, he was usually involved, often writing all the publicity. He also helped his wife write a revised history of the church for a special anniversary. As a member of the Rotary Club of Asbury Park, he was program chairman and president during the 50s. He was a member of the board of directors of the Boys Club of Asbury Park, where he helped raise funds for their building campaign. Mr. Gibbons was predeceased by his beloved wife, Florence; and his daughter, Faye Edwards. Surviving are his sister, Betty Tierney of Neptune; a son Richard and daughter-in-law Lois of Ocean Grove; and a daughter, Mary and son-in-law Russell Jacobus of Manchester. Other survivors include a son-in-law, Merv Edwards of Florida; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. A private viewing was held for the immediate family. A memorial funeral ceremony was held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Embury and New York Avenues, Ocean Grove on Saturday, May 21st at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Food Bank at St. Paul's Church would be appreciated.

RICHARD J. McGLONE, 62, of NEPTUNE, died Monday, May 16, 2005, at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. He was a driver and office worker for Monmouth County. Prior to that he worked at the Marine Base Terminal in Bayonne for twenty years. Mr. McGlone was a 1962 graduate of Asbury Park High School, where he played on the football team and a 1966 graduate of the College of Emporia in Kansas. He was a graduate of the Academy of Advanced Traffic, New York City. Born in Irvington, NJ, he had lived in Maplewood then Asbury Park before coming here thirty years ago. Surviving are his parents John and Marion Vandenburg McGlone, a brother, John McGlone of Fair Haven, and a sister, Nancy Brayden of Medford. Friends were invited to call on Friday from 2-4 and 7- 9 at The Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue Ocean Grove. Services and Interment were private. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to the American Cancer Society, 801 Broad Street, Shrewsbury, N. J. 07702 would be appreciated.
