Joseph Patrick DeSarno
Joseph Patrick DeSarno, formerly of Wall, passed away suddenly at his home. He was 44.

Mr. DeSarno was a Realtor for Gloria Nilson Real Estate Agency in Point Pleasant. Joseph was a 1985 graduate of Wall High School where he excelled in athletics as well as being a musician. Later, he became very active in the Wall Township men’s softball leagues and played the drums for several bands, most recently, ‘Slow Kids At Play, ’ all along the Jersey Shore for the past 20 years. He was the world’s greatest Yankee fan and was a cancer survivor for over eight years.

Born in Neptune, he grew up in Wall Township before moving to Brick in 2003.

Surviving are his mother Patricia Farrell DeSarno of Brick; his brother Michael DeSarno and his wife Melissa Wondrack DeSarno of Wall; a nephew Matthew DeSarno; a niece Megan DeSarno; his father Joseph DeSarno; his step mother Inna DeSarno and a step sister Helen, all of Belmar.

Arrangements were under the direction of the O’Brien Funeral Home in Brick. The service was held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Manasquan. Interment will be private.

Donations made be made in his name to the Melanoma Research Foundation, 1411 K St., NW Suite 500, Washington, D.C.

Millicent Ruth Rutledge
Millicent Ruth “Tootie” Rutledge, of Wall, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 19, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. She was 94.

Mrs. Rutledge was born in Neptune, and was a resident of Spring Lake Heights before moving to Wall 12 years ago. She was a trophy and ribbon maker for Andrew Keifer Trophy Co., before retiring and belonged to the Pride of Wall Senior Citizens, and St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Wall.

Mrs. Rutledge was predeceased by her parents, Frederick and Anna [Fowler] Sutton, her husband, Richard Rutledge, Sr., her brothers, Fred and Arthur Sutton, and her sister, Grace Estlow.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Richard and Fredericka Rutledge, Va. and LeRoy Magee, and Kathy and Jerry DeMuro. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Karen Sutton; her grandchildren, Kim Justesen, Keri Magee, Rachel DeMuro, Michael Rutledge, Scott Magee, and Jerry DeMuro, Jr.; and her great-grandchildren, Samantha and Allyson Justesen.

Arrangements were under the direction of the O’Brien Funeral Home in Brick.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Meals on Wheels, 810 4th Ave., Asbury Park would be appreciated.

Catherine S. Gallagher
Catherine S. Gallagher, of Wall, passed away Monday, Nov. 21 at Tower Lodge Care Center in Wall. She was 98.

She was born in Chicago and grew up mostly in Pennsylvania. Catherine later returned to Chicago to attend college at the Hines School of Nursing. After graduating, she enlisted in the Army Nurse Corps at Fort Jackson, S.C., where she became a First Lieutenant.

Catherine moved to Wanamassa in 1948 where she worked at the military hospital at Fort Monmouth for 32 years. She was a former member of the Officers Club there. In 1968, she relocated to Wall.

Catherine is pre-deceased by her first husband, Joseph Ward and her second husband, Michael Gallagher.

She is survived by her son Patrick and his wife Terri, of Wall; three grandchildren, Kelly Ward, Tracey Ward, and Michael Ward and his wife Jennifer; and two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Jake.

Visitation will be on Friday from 7-9 p.m. at the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home in Manasquan. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Denis Roman Catholic Church in Manasquan. Interment will be at a later date at Arlington National cemetery in Arlington, Va.

Herbert L. Eilbacher
Herbert L. Eilbacher, with family in Wall, died on Nov. 14 at home surrounded by his loving family and two Golden Retrievers. He was 84.

Mr. Eilbacher was born on Nov. 6, 1927 in Elizabeth, the son of the late Albert and Anna Eilbacher. He served in the United States Navy and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 253, Elizabeth. Mr. Eilbacher retired in 1990 from Johnson & Johnson as a Quality Assurance Coordinator. He became a resident of Newport, N.C. in 2002 and was a communicant of Annunciation Catholic Church in Havelock, N.C.

Mr. Eilbacher was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and loved nothing more than to be surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his son, John Joseph.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joan, and his six children, Jeanne and husband Robert, of Newport, N.C., Donna and husband John, of Wall, Thomas and wife Terese, of Brick, Paul and wife Balinda, of Shohola, Pa., Terese and husband Russell, of Shohola, Pa., and John of Shohola, Pa.; 10 grandchildren, Christian and wife Nicole, Annaleigh, Sophia, Emily, Jarrett, Jessica, Timothy, Stephanie and Brianna; two great-grandchildren, Kayla Rose and Alexandra; and many more beloved relatives and friends.

A memorial gathering will be held at O’Brien Funeral Home in Wall on Monday from 4 - 8 p.m., with a memorial service at 7 p.m. Committal will take place at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia, on Tuesday morning at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Carteret County, P.O. Drawer 1619, Morehead City, N.C.

Eleanor Jacques
Eleanor Jacques [née Murray], a seasonal resident of Manasquan, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 19 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. She was 92.

While raising her family, Mrs. Jacques worked as a bookkeeper for most of her life. She was a 1936 graduate of St. Cecilia’s High School in Kearny. She was a member of the Rosary Society at both St. Cecilia’s in Kearny and St. Mark’s in Sea Girt. Mrs. Jacques was a past president of the Essex Catholic High School Mother’s Club. She also enjoyed playing bridge. Born and raised in Kearny, she lived in Bonita Springs, Fla. while spending the summer months in Manasquan. She was a devout Catholic of great faith and had an indomitable spirit towards life.

Eleanor was predeceased by her husband Maurice Jacques in 1965, brothers Vincent J. Murray, John W. Murray and William M. Murray and sister Catherine Brady.

Surviving are her son Alan Jacques and his wife Ersina of Kearny; daughters Louise M. Jacques and her husband John Kozari of Phillipsburg, Eileen R. Jacques and her husband James McCormack of North Arlington; sisters Mildred Kelly with whom she lived with in Manasquan and Bonita Springs, Fla., and Clare Molloy of Westerville, Ohio. She also leaves two grandchildren, Evan R. Miller and Sara M. Jacques.

Arrangements were under the direction of the O’Brien Funeral Home in Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial took place at St. Mark’s RC Church in Sea Girt. Burial took place at Holy Cross cemetery in North Arlington.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her name to St. Mark’s Social Concerns, 215 Crescent Parkway, Sea Girt or a charity of choice.

Dr. E. David Morgan
Dr. E. David Morgan, of Wall, passed away after a long courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, Nov. 20 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick with his family by his side. He was 53.

Dr. Morgan was born at Bitburg Air Force Base, Germany. He was raised in Brick and resided in Wall for over 17 years. Dr. Morgan received his medical degree from Ross University, West Indies, where his daughter Melissa is currently studying for her medical degree. He was a dedicated physician and surgeon, servicing Monmouth and Ocean counties for over 25 years.

He loved and cared for all of his patients and their families while working for Meridian Health at Ocean Medical Center in Brick and Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. He also had his private OB-GYN practice, Monmouth Ocean Medical Services for Women in Brick and was affiliated with Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood.

Dr. Morgan enjoyed snow and water skiing, trips to Atlantic City and Las Vegas, traveling with his family, and attending all of his children’s hockey and football games. Dr. Morgan was very proud of all his children’s accomplishments.

Dr. Morgan was predeceased by his mother Kathleen [née DiMento] Morgan.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Kathleen [née Lasher] Morgan of Wall; his father Dr. Harold Morgan of Brick; his sons Matthew, Douglas and wife Laura, Mitchell and wife Jody, Jeffrey, and daughter Melissa, all of Wall. Dr. Morgan is also survived by his siblings and their spouses, Dr. Allen and Hagit Morgan of Ocean Township, Michelle and Joseph Vitiello of Toms River, Dr. Steven and Shari Morgan of Toms River, Dr. Daniel and Lydia Morgan of Egg Harbor Township, Sara and Brian Jones of Texas, Rachel and John Micah-Jones of Baltimore, Dr. Benjamin and Iliana Morgan of Brick, and Dr. Aaron and Alison Morgan of Brick.

Arrangements were under the direction of Orender Family Home for Funerals, in Manasquan. The interment will take place at Beth Olam Cemetery, in Lakewood.

At the request of the family please no flowers. Memorial donations may be made to Ocean Medical Center Foundation, 425 Jack Martin Blvd., Brick.

Raymond R. Scully Sr.
Raymond R. Scully Sr., 66, of Lakewood, passed away Saturday, Oct. 29 at Ocean County Medical Center, Brick.

Born in Peckville, Pa., he lived in Spring Lake Heights most of his life before moving to Lakewood five years ago.

Raymond was a U.S. Navy veteran and was a longtime employee of the family-owned Jersey Coast Roofing Company, Point Pleasant.

Mr. Scully was predeceased by his parents, John J. and Helen Zavistowski Scully Sr.

Surviving is his devoted wife of 44 years, Barbara A. Stone Scully; his daughter, Tracy Ann Gorman, and husband John, of Mount Bethel, Pa.; his sons and their spouses, Raymond R. Jr. and wife Veronica, of Brick, Michael D. and wife Cindy, of Point Pleasant, Peter W. and Tina, of Brick; his brothers, William, of Haines City, Fla., Charles, of Barnegat, and John, of Toms River; his sister, Barbara Celano, of Barnegat; and nine grandchildren.

Arrangements were made under the care of O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall.

Michael Cestaro Jr.
Michael Cestaro Jr., 62, of Point Pleasant Beach, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 29 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick.

Born in Jersey City, he lived in Manahawkin prior to moving to Point Pleasant Beach in 1980. He worked as a real estate appraiser for Vital Appraisers, Trenton.

Surviving is his wife, Ruth Bednar Cestaro, of Point Pleasant Beach; his father, Michael Cestaro Sr., of Point Pleasant Beach; his mother, Madeline Cestaro, of Arizona; his four sons, Michael B. Cestaro and Raymond B. Cestaro, both at home, Shawn Michael and his wife, Randi, of New York, and Troy Cestaro, of Northfield; two grandchildren, Jake Michael and Ross Michael; and his mother and father-in-law, Raymond and Mary Ellen Bednar, of New York.

Arrangements were made under the care of Colonial Funeral Home, Brick.

Elizabeth Ann Malleo
Elizabeth Ann Malleo “Beth, ” of Wall, passed away Friday morning Oct. 21, with her family by her side. She was 51.

Beth was born in Montclair and raised in Clifton. She graduated from Paul VI Regional High School, Clifton, and St. Francis University in Loretto, Pa. Beth received her master’s degree from Monmouth University, West Long Branch. She ran two marathons in Dublin, Ireland, and was a swimming instructor at Spring Lake Swim Club and The Atlantic Club.

Beth was a homemaker and small business owner who thoroughly enjoyed raising her three children along with her husband Michelangelo, and attending all of their sporting events. She taught English at West Windsor Plainsboro North in Princeton.

The Malleo family would like to thank everyone for the tremendous amount of prayers and support throughout Beth’s battle and especially for the fundraiser in June 2010.

Beth is survived by her husband of 28 years, Michelangelo Malleo, of Wall, and her three children, Chris, Matt and Jacqueline Malleo of Wall. She is also survived by her parents, Robert and Mary Helen Liddell, of Wall; a brother, Bobby Liddell, of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters, Margie Amrhein and her husband, Daniel, of Johnston, Pa. and Kathleen Mulcahy and her husband, Rob, of Wall; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Pietro and Maria Malleo, of Garfield; and a sister-in-law and her husband, Francesca and Edward Weddington, of N.C.

Arrangements were taken care of by Orender Family Home for Funerals. A Mass of Christian Burial was at St. Catharine’s Church, in Spring Lake, and interment took place at St. Anne’s Cemetery, in Wall.

At the family’s request, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Beth Malleo Trust Fund, 445 Brick Blvd., Brick, 08723. These donations will be distributed between the Hope Lodge of American Cancer Society, A Time For Me and W.H.I.P. [Wall Helps Its People].
