Richard Harry Stoner
Richard Harry Stoner, Sr., of Wall Township, passed away Saturday, Aug. 18, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune with his family by his side. He was 80.

Richard was born in Neptune and lived in Belmar his entire life until moving to Brielle in 1997 and then Brick in 2005. For the past 18 months he was a permanent resident of Care One At Wall.

Richard was a Union Bricklayer for 60 years and a self-employed mason contractor for 20 years operating as Richard Stoner, Mason. He was an exempt firefighter with the Goodwill Hose Fire Company, Belmar and was an active member for 25 years and the chief in 1977. Richard was also a firefighter for Brielle Fire Company for five years. He enjoyed bowling, golf, and playing softball. Richard was a co-captain for the Manasquan High School Football Team in 1951 under Hal Manson.

Richard was predeceased by his parents Harry and Jeane Stoner; his wife Elaine Baran Stoner in 2002; and a brother Ross Stoner in 1980.

He is survived by his son Richard H. Stoner, Jr., of Freehold; two daughters Christine Stoner, of Belmar and Laura Abadrabo and her husband Gary, of Brielle. Richard is also survived by three beautiful grandchildren-Bryan, Tess and Layne Abadrabo, all of Brielle, and three nephews-Douglas, Ross and Joseph Stoner, all of New Jersey.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Orender Family Home for Funerals in Manasquan. A funeral service was held at St. Anne’s cemetery in Wall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Central Jersey Chapter, 740 Broad Street, Shrewsbury or The Goodwill Hose Fire Company, PO Box 785 Belmar.

Joseph Murphy, Jr.
Joseph Brendon Murphy Jr., formerly of Spring Lake, passed away on Monday, Aug. 13.

He was the beloved husband of Marilyn Murphy [nee Lancasky]; cherished father of Joseph Murphy and his wife Mary Ann, of Tinton Falls, Daniel Murphy and his wife Patty, of Timonium, Md., Rosemary Fairbaugh and her husband Steve, of Bel Air, Md., Jane McGovern and her husband Gary, of Scituate, Mass., Elizabeth Murphy, of Bel Air, Md., and Patrick Murphy, of Red Bank; dear brother of William and Daniel Murphy.

He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral mass was held at St. Margaret Church in Bel Air, Md., with inurnment taking place at the Highview Memorial Gardens.

Vincent Paul Malmberg
Vincent Paul Malmberg, with family in Wall Township, passed away on Saturday Aug. 18 in Toms River.

He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. His love of painting and photography were known to all. Born in Newark and raised in Nutley, he lived for many years in South Plainfield, working for more than 30 years as a chemical treatment technician for Federal Steel in Bristol, Pa. Upon retirement he resided in Vero Beach, Fla. for a number of years before returning to Whiting in 2004.

Vincent was predeceased in April by his loving wife of 66 years, Phyllis Jean Malmberg; parents, Florence Oyler Malmberg and Ring Malmberg; sisters Vivian Sharp and Marjorie Pfister.

He is survived by his daughter Gail Thompson and her husband Walker, of Given, W. Va.; son Glenn Malmberg and his wife Corinne, of Wall; daughter Carol Laurencelle and her husband John, of Bridgewater; his grandchildren, Michael Malmberg, of Medford, Mass.; Alison Malmberg, of Wall; and Leighann Laurencelle, of Bridgewater; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Orender Family Home for Funerals in Manasquan. A funeral service was held at Brig. Gen. William C Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown.

Timothy J. Farrell
Timothy J Farrell, of Sea Girt, passed away on Friday, Aug. 17, surrounded by family and friends. He was 73.

Tim was born in Orange and lived in West Orange and Rockaway before moving to Sea Girt nine years ago. He was a social worker for Essex County Welfare Services for 38 years. Tim was also worked as a maître d’ for Robin Hood Inn, Clifton and Friar Tuck Inn Cedar Grove for almost 35 years. He was a a member of the Manasquan Elks Club and also an associate member of the Manasquan VFW.

Tim loved to ski and golf in his spare time. What Tim enjoyed most was spending time with his grandchildren Ryan and Connor. He will be dearly missed by his many lifelong friends.

Tim was predeceased by his parents Timothy “Teddy” and Elizabeth “Betty” Farrell.

He is survived by his daughter Kelly Kline and her husband Sean and their children Ryan and Connor; a brother Robert Edmund Farrell O’Connor of Nokesville, Va. He is also survived by many loving cousins and Aunt Jean Kolster.

Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial visitation on Friday Aug. 24 from 5-8 p.m. at Orender Family Home for Funerals in Manasquan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25 at St. Mark’s Church in Sea Girt. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Manasquan Elks Lodge 2534, PO Box 256, Manasquan.

George W. O’Neil
George W. O’Neil, of Wall Township, 75, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 15 at 11 a.m. at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. He was 75.

Mr. O’Neil was a Certified Public Accountant. Raised in the Riverdale section of Bronx, N.Y., he graduated in 1950 From Good Shepherd Grammar School in the Inwood section of Manhattan, in 1954 from Fordham Prep and in 1958 from the School of Business of Fordham University with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in accounting.

He served in the US Army as an Officer from 1959 to 1961.

He moved to the Jersey shore in 1967 and resided in Wall since 1968.

He practiced as a CPA from 1961 through 1982 and was a partner in what is now Ernst & Young. In 1982 he joined Marpac Industries Inc. as the controller and at the time of its sale in 1998 he was the Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and a Member of the Board of Directors. From 1998 through 2006 he was a consultant to Sykor LLC.

He was a member of many professional organizations.

He was a communicant of St. Rose Church in Belmar.

Known as “Sirz” to his grandchildren, he is survived by his wife of 45 years Joy [Gerow] O’Neil; his daughter Kelly Barcus, her husband Daniel and their daughter Jordan, of Jackson; his daughter, Courtney Tuite, her husband Andrew and their children Gavin and Findleigh, of Manasquan; his daughter Maura Kathleen Larrabee, her husband James. H. and their son James A., of Howell; his daughter Meghan Bohner, her husband Gregg and children Declan and Creagen, of Trumbull, Conn.; his son Gavin and his wife Aleks of New York City; his son Colin, of Asbury Park; and his daughter Reagan Urban, of Wall; and his sister Barbara O’Neil, of Wall.

Arrangements were under the direction of the O’Brien Funeral Home in Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at The Church of St. Rose in Belmar.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Church of St. Rose, 603 7th Ave., Belmar.

Antoninette Guida
Antoinette Mangieri Guida passed away Thursday, Aug. 16 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 93.

Born in Jersey City, she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Elizabeth Amabile Mangieri. Antoinette was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother to her devoted family. As a resident of Shark River Hills, for the past 40 years, she was a faithful Communicant of Church of the Ascension, Bradley Beach.

She was predeceased by her husband Leonard A. Guida in February 2009; her brother Charles Mangieri and her sister Lee Ranieri.

Surviving are her devoted daughters Diane O’Toole and husband James. of Sea View Island, Neptune and Donna Shields, of Key West. Fla.; her dear grandchildren Ryan O’Toole, Kara Kopcsik, and Brendan Shields; her four beloved great grandchildren Riley and Makenzie O’Toole, and Jordan and Griffin Kopcsik and her very special niece Judy Stock.

Arrangements were under the direction of the O’Brien Funeral Home in Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at the Church of the Ascension in Bradley Beach. Entombment took place in St. Catharine’s Cemetery, Sea Girt.

Flowers are acceptable or the family requests donations to the Joan Dancy & PALS [People with ALS] Foundation, Riverview Medical Center, 1 Riverview Plaza, P. O. Box 8157, Red Bank.

Eileen Cummings
Eileen Cummings, of Wall Township, passed away at home, Wednesday, Aug. 15 with her family by her side. She was 86.

Eileen was born and raised in Newark and has lived in Fair Haven, Rumson, Dayton, Ohio, Sea Girt and most recently Wall Township. She was a graduate of Chestnut Hill College in Chestnut Hill, Pa. She was a communicant of St. Mark’s Church in Sea Girt. She was very active in her church as member of the Altar Rosary Society, a Eucharistic Minister, and a member and pioneer of The St. Mark’s Social Concerns. The two most important things in Eileen’s life were her faith and her family.

Eileen is survived by her husband Francis J. Cummings, of Wall; two daughters, Kathleen Cummings, of Seattle, Karen Dushnick and her husband Stephan, of Wall; two sisters, Mary Ann Savage and her husband Robert, of Gwynedd, Pa., and Sara Lynch and her husband Thomas, of Sea Girt; three grandchildren Kathleen, Stephan, and Michael Dushnick and many loving nieces and nephews. Eileen was predeceased by a sister, Sr. Patricia Flarity, SSC in 2004.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Orender Family Home for Funerals in Manasquan. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Mark’s Church, Sea Girt. Interment will follow at St. Catharine’s Cemetery, Sea Girt. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Mark’s Social Concerns, 215 Crescent Pkwy, Sea Girt 08750.

Mairlou Finan
Store owner Marie Louise “Marilou” Finan of Manasquan died at home on Wednesday, Oct. 1 after a long, valiant, strong-willed battle with ovarian cancer.

She was 65 years old.

Her business and life partner, Danielle Stanley, was at her side.

Born in Newark and raised in Maplewood, Marilou was educated at St. Leo’s School, Irvington, Marylawn of the Oranges High School, South Orange, the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station area of Morris Township, and William Paterson State College, Paterson, where she received her master’s degree in education.

Marilou excelled in every career endeavor. Starting as a Sister of Charity, she taught at St. Lucy’s School in Jersey City and later at St. Paul’s Catholic School, Ramsey.

Her sales career began as a sales representative for Scott Foresman Publishing and continued with Degnan Real Estate in the Millburn/Short Hills area, where she was an early member of the Million Dollar Sales Club.

Bursting the glass ceiling in boat sales, Marilou won awards for $2 and $4 million sales years with Shark River Marina and Shore Marine during the 1980s.

In 1991, Marilou, with her friend Lorraine Kerr, launched The Gathering Basket in Manasquan, which then became Gatherings in the building she bought and renovated in 2002.

Marilou served on the board of directors for Rahway Savings Bank and was a proud member of the Manasquan Chamber of Commerce.

A beloved member of Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manasquan, Marilou was predeceased by her parents, Marie and Oliver A. Finan, Sr., her brother, Oliver A. Finan, Jr., and her niece, Gail Morrison.

Marilou is survived by her brothers: Paul A. Finan and his wife, Teddy, of Charlotte, N.C.; and Bernard B. and Gael Finan of Neptune. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Lorraine D. Finan of Tinton Falls and many nieces and nephews: Robert and Diane Finan; Denise A. Finan; Lisa Finan McDonald and her husband, Edward; Mathew Finan; Maura Finan Yale and her husband, Wes; Thomas Finan and his wife, Elizabeth; Sheila Finan; Christopher and Regina Finan.

Marilou also leaves cousins - Dolores Barrett, the Reverend John Baron, Patsianne Nebel, and Albert Baron - many second cousins, and so many people she embraced with her heart. There are few lives she encountered that she did not touch.

A great friend and mentor to many, she was Marilou: sister, niece, “cuz, ” aunt, “Ru Ru” and the life of the party wherever she went. She was blessed with a formidable life force, a fearless drive to succeed, an unmatched sense of humor, a generous spirit, and a steadfast commitment to the people she loved in her life.

She will be missed, but more importantly, remembered.

Funeral services were held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Manasquan. Committal will be private.
