Ronald S. Andrews
Ronald S. Andrews, 73, of the Black Forest Colony, Glen Spey, N.Y., with family in Wall Township, died Friday, Feb. 5, at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch.

Born and educated in Plainfield, he was a veteran of the United States Army. He completed his formal education at Wagner University, Staten Island, N.Y. He resided in the Lake Tamarack section of Stockholm, and summered in Glen Spey for many years, before moving there permanently in 1997.

Mr. Andrews was a teacher in Wayne, and a teacher and guidance counselor in West Milford.

He was a longtime member and president of the planning board and a member of the board of assessment review, both of Lumberland, N.Y. He was also an active member of the Black Forest Colony Residents Association.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Janet W. Andrews; two daughters and spouses, Wendy and John Fogler, of Wall, and Beth and Andrew Page, Califon; a brother and his spouse, Jay K. and Bette Andrews, Port Charlotte, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Kendall, Connor and Eamon Fogler.

A gathering will be held on Saturday, Feb. 13, from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Hunt Room at the Olde Mill Inn Grain House, 225 Route 202, Basking Ridge, 07920 [800-585-4461].

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Lumberland Fire Company, 1088 Rt. 31, Glen Spey, N.Y. 12737. The O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall, is in charge of arrangements.

Susan B. Lu
Susan B. Lu, 80, of Voorhees, formerly of Bricktown, who owned and operated the George Lu Chinese Restaurant in Manasquan for many years, died Thursday, Feb. 4 at the Genesis Eldercare Voorhees Center in Voorhees.

Mrs. Lu owned and operated, with her husband, the restaurant for many years before retiring.

Mrs. Lu was predeceased by her husband George in 1989.

The Neary Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan, was in charge of arrangements. Interment was held at Atlantic View cemetery in Manasquan.

Clarence J. Krieg Jr.
Clarence J. Krieg Jr. [Jay], 68, of Wall Township and formerly of Spring Lake Heights, passed away Thursday, Feb. 4, at Meridian Sub Acute Care Center, Wall.

Clarence had been a self-employed marketing manager for many years. Born and raised in Jersey City, he graduated from Seton Hall University. He lived in Maryland before moving to Spring Lake Heights, where he resided for 30 years before moving to Wall four years ago.

Jay was an active member of the community of Spring Lake Heights and his parish community of St. Catharine’s and St. Margaret’s churches. He was very involved in Spring Lake Heights Little League and the Spring Lake Heights Recreation Committee. At the Church, he had served as a member of the Parish Council and as an usher for many years. He was also an avid Jets fan.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years Mary L. Coyle Krieg; and his children and their spouses, Patrick and Liliana of Houma, La., Christopher and Katherine of Bronxville, N.Y., Donald J. Krieg of Bradley Beach, Stacy and James Kennedy of Spring Lake Heights, Erin and Michael Healy of Pearl River, N.Y., and Megan Krieg of Hoboken. Also surviving are his brother and his wife Donald and Margaret Krieg of Rochester, N.Y., and his 10 beloved grandchildren Katie, Kieran, Annie, Ciara, Jack, Abby, Paulina, Samantha, Maggie and Michael.

The O’Brien Fuenral Home, Wall, was in charge of arrangements. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers kindly make donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Road, 2nd floor, Bethesda, Md. 20814 in his memory.

Olga Ferretti
Olga Ferretti, 87, of Sea Girt, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, at Care One at Wall.

Born in Raritan, she lived in Sea Girt for 35 years. Miss Ferretti was a Registered Nurse and the evening supervisor at University Hospital, in New York, and later became the executive secretary to General Robert Wood Johnson, of Johnson & Johnson, New Brunswick.

A communicant of St. Mark Roman Catholic Church, she was a member of the church’s Altar-Rosary Society and the Rosary Makers group. Miss Ferretti also did volunteer work at the Ocean Medical Center, Brick.

She was predeceased by her parents, John and Victoria Conti Ferretti, and her sisters, Mary Vescovi and Anne Roche.

She is survived by three sisters: Esther Yurth, Boulder, Colo.; Rose Martz, Neptune; and Lucy Cox, Oak Ridge; 10 nieces and nephews; 16 great- nieces and nephews, and by her loving caregiver of seven years, Maria Fedorii.

The O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall, was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Bridgewater.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Catholic Charities, P.O. Box 1423, Trenton, N.J. 08607 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 400 Morris Ave., Suite 251, Denville, N.J. 07834.

Vincent E. Rible
Vincent E. Rible, 87, of Wall, passed away on Feb. 3 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, in Neptune.

He was a resident of Wall for many years. Vince proudly served in the U.S. Navy as an aerial photographer. After Navy duty, he was employed as a civilian electronics technician at the Army Electronic Command at Camp Evans and later Fort Monmouth. He built transistors and other electronic components that were installed in the first unmanned space capsules, shot into space by the U.S. Government prior to the formation of NASA. Vince also owned and operated three fishing boats sailing out of Belmar’s Shark River for more than 40 years: the Mako, the Lady Grace and Eileen, named after his wife in the hopes of staying in her good graces. He was a U.S. Coast Guard licensed Master Mariner; an amateur painter, preferring drawing chalks and oils; and an avid inventor. His patents range from a rope splicing device to a pinhole array camera for integrated circuits, as reported in The Smithsonian/NASA Astrophysics Data System.

Vince was a parishioner of, and often usher at, St, Catharine’s Roman Catholic Church in Spring Lake.

He was predeceased by his loving wife of 51 years, Eileen, in 2000. He was also predeceased by two brothers, Jack and Rodney, and two sisters, Mary and Lillian. Surviving are his son, Stephen Rible, and his wife, Kathryn of Little Silver; his daughter, Janice Coles and her husband, Gary, of Spring Lake Heights; and his daughter, Nancy Clark and her husband, David, of Pt. Pleasant Borough. Vince was blessed with six grandchildren, Daniel, Christina, Michael, Lindsay, Taylor and Kimberly; and two great-grandchildren, Lucy and Anna.

The O’Brien Funeral Home, in Wall, was in charge of arrangements. Entombment was in St. Catharine’s Cemetery, in Wall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

Thomas Joseph Butler
Thomas Joseph Butler, 49 of Wall Township, passed away Thursday, Feb. 4, at Trinitas Regional Medical Center, Elizabeth.

Thomas was a retired service technician with NUI Corporation, Elizabeth, formerly Elizabethtown Gas. He was a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Elizabeth Council No. 253 and the Manasquan Elks Lodge.

Born and raised in Elizabeth, he graduated St. Patrick’s High School in 1978, attended Biscayne College in Florida and was an avid softball player for most of his life. He had lived in Cranford and Garwood before moving to the Sea Girt Estates section of Wall 17 years ago.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 25 years, Ingrid Arfsten Butler; three daughters, Kaitlin, Stephanie and Lauren, all at home; his parents Kenneth and Jean Butler of Elizabeth; his siblings Maryjean Butler [and Tony Nicole], Kathie and David Muelrath; and family Bill, Jim and Michael Butler [and Stacy and family]. Also surviving is his mother-in-law Anne Arfsten and his sisters-in-law, Rosemarie and Frank Roestenberg and family, and Sesle and Andrew Leonardi and family.

The O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall, was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in St. Anne’s Cemetery, Wall.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to St. Patrick’s High School in his memory, 221 Court St., Elizabeth, N.J. 07206-1852.

Gary Frederick Finken
Spring Lake resident Gary Frederick Finken died Monday, Jan. 12 at his home.

He was 59 years old.

Mr. Finken was a director at Horizon Blue Cross/Blue Shield in Newark. He also participated on the NJBCBS corporate running team in Newark. He was past president and board member of the Union Boys and Girls Club and was involved with the Union Little League and Teener League Baseball Programs and the Union Cub Scouts. He received a BA in liberal arts from Lock Haven University in Lock Haven, Pa. and was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon social fraternty at the university. He also was a certified swim official with the Westfield YMCA and the Mindowaskin Swim Club.

Born and raised in Easton, Pa., he lived in Union before moving to Spring Lake permanently in 2003.

Surviving are his loving wife Ree [Bush] Finken, two sons Jeffrey of Philadelphia, Pa., and Douglas of Spring Lake, his parents Fred and Gretchen Finken of Easton, and sisters Sally Newhartz of Bethlehem, Pa. and Susan Kutzler of Easton.

A memorial service will be held at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Route 35, Wall on Saturday at 1 p.m. Donations may be made in his name to the Meridian at home Hospice 1340 Campus Parkway, Suite A, Neptune 07753 or to a local charity of choice.

John Clark
Summit resident John Clark died Saturday, Jan. 10 in his home.

He was 43 years old.

John was born in Jersey City and lived in Summit for most of his life. He had a vacation home with his family in Sea Girt and was a member of the Canoe Brook Country Club. He was Chief Compliance Officer for Davidson Kempner Capital in New York after having worked at Morgan Stanley for over 18 years.

He is survived by his loving wife Cynthia Clark, their dear son Matthew Clark, his parents James and Patricia Clark, his brother James B. Clark III and his wife Trish, his sisters Karen and her husband Klaus Haberl and Kate and her husband Chris Olive. He is also survived by many friends and relatives. He was a devoted husband and dedicated father who will be missed by all.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Chatham. Funeral mass will be held today at St. Teresa of Avila Church, 306 Morris Avenue, Summit at 10:45 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The V Foundation for Cancer Research, 106 Towerview Court, Cary, N.C. 27513, or any cancer charity of your choice.

W. Thomas Wagner
Atlantic Highlands resident W. Thomas Wagner died Friday, Jan. 9 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank.

He was 69 years old.

Mr. Wagner was born in Elizabeth and raised in Point Pleasant Beach. He lived in Bay Head most of his adult life. Mr. Wagner was also a naval veteran. It was through his passions of airplanes, antiques and boats that he was able to establish careers in his vocations. Upon his retirement, Mr. Wagner drove a bus for children with special needs. Mr. Wagner’s family said that one of his qualities was his optimistic view throughout his whole life.

Mr. Wagner was predeceased by his wife of 28 years, Dorothy Poehner Wagner, in 1999, and a brother Harry Uhden in 1992.

He is survived by his two daughters, Dorothy “D’Anne” Wagner of Brick and Dawn Alyssa Wagner of Maryland; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, John and Jill Uhden of Sea Girt and Philip M. and Mary Wagner of Annapolis, Md.; and one grandson, Jake C. Wagner. Mr. Wagner is also survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews and Shae Goodwin Shurack and her mother.

Funeral arrangements were handled by the Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan. Internment was private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Lung Association of New Jersey, 1600 Route 22 East, Union 07083.

Mary Elizabeth Carton
Sarasota, Fla. resident Mary Elizabeth Carton, formerly of Sea Girt, died Friday, Jan. 9 at Care One, Wall.

She was 80 years old.

Mrs. Carton retired in 1986 as bank manager of the Princeton Avenue Branch of the former 1st Jersey Bank in Brick. She was a volunteer for the Make a Wish Foundation and SPARC Sarasota Prevention of Abuse and Rape Center, both in Sarasota. She also was a member of Mote Marine in Long Boar Key, Fla.

Born in Newark, she was raised in East Orange and lived in South Orange, Sea Girt and Sarasota.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Robert E., Sr. in 1987 and by her brother Thomas McCormick in 1978.

Surviving are her sons Robert E., Jr. of Long Beach Island, John J. and his wife Lori of Longwood, Fla., daughters Carol A. Daniels and her husband Peter of Toms River, Betsy Conway and her husband Murray of Point Pleasant, Sue Ellen Protheroe and her husband Thomas of Apopka, Fla. and Kathleen Parker and her husband Greg of Naples, Fla. She also leaves her 12 grandchildren Lt. Comdr. US Navy Robert, Murry J., Kelly, Andrew, Brian, Courtney, Mary, Timmy, Tricia, JJ, Sgt. US Army James, Taylor and three great grandchildren Trey, Raigan and Elizabeth.

Visiting will be on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Route 35, Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, 9:30 a.m. at St. Mark’s RC Church, Sea Girt. Donations may be made in her name to the National Aphasia Association, 350 7th Avenue, Suite 902, New York, N.Y. 10001.
