Edward Selert, 64
Edward Selert, 64, of Westfield died on Monday, March 23, 1998 at home.
Born in Jersey City, he had lived in Linden before moving to Westfield.
Mr. Selert had been a sprinkler fitter with Local No. 696 of Newark for 43 years before retiring in 1992.
He served as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps from 1953 through 1957.
Mr. Selert coached Little League baseball and football teams in Westfield. Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Frances Selert; three sons, John Selert, Scott Selert and Carl Selert; three brothers, Arnold Selert, William Selert and Richard Selert; a sister, Lorraine Bennett, and six grandchildren.
Private funeral services were arranged by the Leonard-Lee Funeral Home in Linden.

Mary Tendermorne, 81
Mary Tendermorne, 81, of Fanwood died on Thursday, March 26, 1998 in Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Born in Newark, she had lived in Maplewood before moving to Fanwood last year.
Miss Tendermorne had worked part time as a clerk in the Maplewood Tax Assessor's Office for several years.
A Funeral Mass was offered on Tuesday, March 31, in Our Lady of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church in South Orange.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the McCracken Funeral Home in Union.

John Fiorino, 38
Local Firefighter; Coached Little League in Westfield
John Fiorino, 38, a lifelong resident of Westfield, died on Monday, March 30, 1998 at the Grandstrand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
He had been a volunteer firefighter in Westfield from 1983 to 1986, and was employed as a firefighter for the Town of Westfield since 1986.
Firefighter Fiorino was a member of the Firemen's Benevolent Association Local No. 30 of Westfield and the Exempt Firemen's Association.
He was a communicant of the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Westfield and a member of the Italian-American Club of North Plainfield.
He coached Little League in Westfield for baseball, basketball, football and soccer.
Surviving are his wife, Allison Tortoriello Fiorino; two sons, Vincent Fiorino and Stephen Fiorino; a daughter, Amy Fiorino; his parents, Joseph and Eleanor Fiorino of Westfield, and two sisters, Patricia Petersen of Westfield and Joanne Hughes of Lincroft.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, April 3, at Holy Trinity Church. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. today, Thursday, April 2, at the Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Avenue, Westfield.
Memorial donations may be made to the Fiorino Children's Scholarship Fund, care of Westfield Firemen's Benevolent Association Local No. 30, 405 North Avenue, West, Westfield, 07090.

Frederick Bremmer, 70
Was Butcher; Had Been Police Officer in Fanwood
Frederick K. Bremmer, 70, of Manasquan died on Sunday, March 22, 1998 at home.
Born in Plainfield, he moved to Manasquan in 1964.
Mr. Bremmer had been a butcher for Shop-Rite Foodarama for 30 years at various locations, prior to retiring in 1989.
He had been a police officer in Fanwood from 1952 to 1959.
Mr. Bremmer was a member of the organizational committee and a charter member of the Fanwood Policeman's Benevolent Association No. 123.
He was also a member of the Fanwood Fire Department for 14 years, the Fanwood Rescue Squad and the Amalgamated Meat Cutters Union Local No. 464A in Little Falls.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Rodgers Bremmer; four sons, Elliot Bremmer of Glendola, Glenn Bremmer of Point Pleasant Borough, Hugh Bremmer and Frederick Bremmer, Jr., both of Manasquan; three daughters, Nancy Bremmer of Lakewood, Mary Lou Brown of Jackson and Marcia Britton of Beachwood, and 11 grandchildren.
Private funeral services were arranged by the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home in Manasquan.

Reverend Thomas Francis Grogan, 57
Assistant Pastor at St. Bartholomew's
The Reverend Thomas Francis Grogan, 57, of Scotch Plains died on Sunday, March 29, 1998 in St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston.
Born in Newark, Father Grogan was ordained on May 25, 1968.
He was Assistant Pastor at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Scotch Plains.
Previously, Father Grogan had served at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church in Jersey City, Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church in New Providence, Our Lady of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church in South Orange, St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Rutherford, and St. James Roman Catholic Church in Springfield.
Surviving are his parents, Thomas F. Grogan, Sr. and Helen B. Grogan; two brothers, Peter L. Grogan and Paul D. Grogan, and a sister, Veronica Ann Hegedus.
A Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, April 3, in St. Bartholomew the Apostle Church in Scotch Plains. Arrangements are being handled by the Rossi Funeral Home in Scotch Plains.

Nicholas Kosovan, 69
Army Veteran; Weldon Retiree Served as Volunteer
Nicholas Kosovan, 69, of Palm Bay, Florida, died on Thursday, March 26, 1998 at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida.
Born in Manville, he had lived in Scotch Plains and Fanwood for many years before retiring to Palm Bay in 1990.
Mr. Kosovan had been a quarry operator at Weldon Concrete in Watchung for more than 10 years before retiring in 1990.
He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
In Palm Bay, he was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
Mr. Kosovan was predeceased by his first wife, Jeanne Hartman Kosovan, in 1976. Surviving are his wife, Vivian Busch Kosovan; a daughter, Nancy Ziemienski; a step-daughter, Karin Reinenger; three sons, Gordon Kosovan, Stuart Kosovan and Richard Kosovan; a brother, John Kosovan, and eight grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were handled by the Rossi Funeral Home in Scotch Plains.

Dorothy Christiano
Dorothy Christiano of Garwood died on Monday, March 30, 1998 in the Westfield Network, Genesis ElderCare Center in Westfield.
Born in Westfield, she had lived there until moving to Garwood 18 years ago.
She had been employed for 44 years as an inspector for Accurate Bushing Company in Garwood, retiring in 1987.
Miss Christiano was a member of the Garwood Seniors Citizens and the Sons of Italy of Garwood, Golden Age of Cranford and C. A. U. S. E. of Jersey City.
She was a former volunteer for Meridian Nursing Home of Westfield. Surviving are eight nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held today, Thursday, April 2, in St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church in Garwood. Interment will take place in Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains.
Arrangements are being handled by the Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Avenue in Westfield.
