Stephen C. Kafcsak
Life Dates: June 19, 1922 - August 12, 2005
Stephen C. Kafcsak, age 83 of Metuchen, died on Friday at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield. He was born in Perth Amboy and had resided in Metuchen for the last 53 years.
Mr. Kafcsak graduated from Perth Amboy High School in 1940 and from Rutgers University, New Brunswick in 1949 with a BS in Chemistry. He worked from 1950-1980 as a technical expert in the area of chemicals, petroleum and medical disciplines for the Defense Contract Administration Service of the US Government in NJ. After his retirement he worked as a chemist in private industry until 2000.
He was a veteran of the US Navy serving from 1942-1945. He was a member and served as deacon of the First Presbyterian Church of Metuchen. He was also a Past Commander of the American Legion Post in New Brunswick.
Survived by: Surviving are his beloved wife of 52 years, Mary Tallarico Kafcsak, his devoted daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Robert McCutcheon of Edison, his loving grandsons, Robert, Brian and Eric and his nephew, Ronald Kafcsak of Florida.
Services: Funeral services were private.

Anna Hall
Life Dates: October 6, 1917 - September 2, 2005
Anna Hall, age 87, died on Friday at the Highlands Nursing Home in Edison. She was born in the Bronx, New York and worked for many years at the Samuel Gompers High School and Cardinal Hays High School, both in the Bronx.
Her son-in-law said of Anna, “She was a great mother, a wonderful grandmother and a devoted New York Yankees fan”.
Her husband John J. Hall, Sr. died in 1997 and her daughter, Patricia J. Ragone died in 1986.
Survived by: Surviving are her sons, John J. Hall, Jr. of Metuchen and Raymond A. Hall of North Plainfield her daughters, Joanne C. Samanich of Metuchen and Carol A. Cavallero of Helmetta, and her grandchildren, Christine Baumann, Raymond A. Hall, Jr., Emily Perry and Frank Ragone, Jr. Also surviving is her caretaker and companion, Ia.
Visitation: Monday, September 5, 2005 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m.

Funeral Service: Tuesday, September 6, 2005 at 9:45 a.m. followed by a 10:15 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis Cathedral, Metuchen.

Peter. F. Catelli, Jr.
Life Dates: June 15, 1913 - August 29, 2005
Mr. Peter F. Catelli, Sr., age 92 of Perth Amboy, passed away at his daughter’s residence on Monday. He was born and raised in Perth Amboy and graduated from Perth Amboy High School in 1933. He worked at the Atlantic Terra Cotta Company and American Smelting and Refining Company until 1943 when he joined the U.S. Navy. He was married at the time and had his son, Peter, Jr.
Once in the Navy, he went through various schools located at Newport, RI, Chicago, IL, Richmond, VA and Little Creek, VA serving on minesweeping equipment. He was commissioned to the USS Pinnacle, AM-274 at Chicasaw and AL 180 Ship and served in the Atlantic Theater. He also served on an escort ship to Europe and North Africa and participated in the invasion of Southern France. In one instance his escort ship accompanied President Roosevelt to the Yalta Conference. He operated off the coast of North Africa, Sicily, Southern Italy, Sardinia and Corsica with one of his ships escorting the last group of German prisoners to Virginia. He was recommissioned and entered through the Panama Canal to the West Coast on the same ship. He operated out of Hawaii, Enietock, Saipan, Okinawa and the South China Sea. He also operated off the coast of Japan in preparation of its invasion, when Japan surrendered before the invasion could take place. He was sent back to the United States from Sasebo, Japan to California and was discharged from Lido Beach on October 12, 1945 as Machinist Mate II Class. He was eligible for the American Theater, American Defense, European, African, and Pacific-Asiatic Ribbons. He joined the VFW in Naples in February 1945 and had been active with Post #663, Sgt. John B. Egan, Perth Amboy.
In June 1946, Mr. Catelli entered into the local Police Department as a Patrolman, and was promoted to Detective in February 1951. He was promoted to Sergeant-Detective in 1961 and Lieutenant-Detective in 1966. As Lieutenant-Detective, on January 7, 1973 with 27 years of service, he performed an act of bravery beyond the call of duty in the highest tradition of a Law Enforcement Officer. On that day, at about 12:36 p.m., he responded to a call from Police Headquarters concerning a young lad who was on top of a railroad car who had touched the high tension wires. Upon arrival at the scene, Lieutenant Catelli saw a young boy with his clothes afire who seemed to have been electrocuted. Upon close observation, Lieutenant Catelli noticed the boy move his leg and, disregarding his own life, he immediately climbed up the fully electrically charged boxcar and with the assistance of two First Aid men removed the boy and took him to the hospital.
During his years on the police force he organized basketball and softball teams for city youth, which was sponsored by the VFW Post #663. In 1974 he retired as Lieutenant-Detective and was assigned to the Middlesex County Police Academy where he retired as Assistant Director in 1983.
Throughout his career Mr. Catelli received more than 50 awards and citations from organizations of which he was a member, including many proclamations from past governors, and was the honored guest of numerous testimonial dinners.
In 1983, Mr. Catelli was struck by a personal tragedy which left him in a wheelchair. Completely undaunted by this, he continued to distribute food parcels to city residents under the auspices of Middlesex County. Additionally he donated many of his handicapped vans to individuals and organizations in need. On April 28, 1995, he was inducted into the Perth Amboy High School Hall of Fame.
Mr. Catelli was a member of many clubs and organizations among which were Past President of the Italian-American Democratic Club, PBA #13 Social Club, Police & Firemen’s Retired Chapter #9, Middlesex and Monmouth Counties, and Holy Rosary Church Holy Name Society. He was the Past Commander of Sgt. John B. Egan Post #663 VFW, twice, the Instructor for N.J. Fish & Game, Safety Firearms Course for 17 years and NJ Red Cross Instructor in Standard and Advanced First Aid Training. He was also a Life Member of Protection H & L Company #1, Knight of Columbus #299, Sgt. John B. Egan VFW #663, Disabled American Veterans, Chapter #60, NJ PBA #13, and VFW Grand Military Order of Cooties - PT #26, a member of BPOE Elks Lodge #784, Holy Rosary CWV #1613, Holy Rosary Catholic Church, National Rifle Association, AARP Senior Citizens and the Association of Retarded Citizens, Raritan Valley, and a member and counselor of Perth Amboy Senior Citizens Club. He was Chief of NJ VFW Security, NJ State and Past National Officer of VFW of New Jersey, Instructor of N.J. Police Training Commission, Representative of Catholic Charities Distribution Agency, and of M.C.E.O.C. Distribution Agency, Firearms Instructor of NJ Training Commission, Commissioner of Perth Amboy Parking Authority as well as Honorary Member Post Honor Guard VFW Post 2314.
Peter was predeceased by his wife, Frances Palisi Catelli in 1961.
Survived by: Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Peter F. Jr. and Susan Catelli, his daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Donald Bachman, his grandson, Donald Bachman, Jr. and his wife, Stephanie, his granddaughter, Linda Cubelo and her husband Richard, and his great-grandchildren, Braden, Giavanna, Brant, Brianna and Alyssa.
Visitation: Wednesday, August 31, 2005 7:00-9:00 p.m.; Thursday, September 1, 2005 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m.
Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ
Funeral Service: Friday, September 2, 2005 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Rosary RC Church in Perth Amboy.
Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Fords.
Pallbearers and Honor Guard duties will be performed by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Perth Amboy Police Department.
Final graveside ceremonies will also include the United States Navy.

Joseph Cuccia
Life Dates: March 23, 1917 - August 1, 2005
Joseph Cuccia, age 88, died on Monday at his home in Edison. He was born in New York City and resided in Dongan Hills section of Staten Island before moving to Edison 25 years ago.
Mr. Cuccia was an auto mechanic for 25 years with Wilson Service Station in the Bronx retiring in 1962. He was a member of the Edison Stelton Senior Club.
His wife, Vita Pontrandolfo Cuccia who died in 2003 predeceased him.
Survived by: Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Cesare and Mary Cuccia of Staten Island, his daughter and son-in-law, Ann and John Liquori of Edison, his grandchildren, Toni-Ann, Christopher and John, his great-granddaughter, Rebecca and his sister, Mary Cuccia of New York City.
Visitation: Thursday, August 4, 2005 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m.

Myron S. Diaczyszyn
Life Dates: June 6, 1940 – August 16, 2005
Myron S. Diaczyszyn, age 65 died on Friday at his home in Sayreville. He was born in Perth Amboy and had resided in Sayreville for the past 27 years.
Mr. Diaczyszyn was a Production Manager at Heraeus Inc. in Newark for 15 years. He was a member and past Exalted Ruler at B.P.O. Elks Lodge 2487 in Edison. He was also and avid fisherman.
Survived by: Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Sigrid Kartelias Diaczyszyn, his daughters, Katherine A. Neggers of Cape Coral, FL, Diane L. Douglas of Jackson, and Lori M. Diaczyszyn of Sayreville, his sister, Beverly Poloka of Perth Amboy, his brother, John Diaczyszyn of Bricktown and his grandsons, Mitchell and Jacob.
Visitation: Sunday, August 21, 2005 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m.

John J. Calabro
Life Dates: June 22, 1918 – August 25, 2005
John J. Calabro, age 87 in Hopelawn, died on Thursday at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was born in Perth Amboy and graduated from Perth Amboy High School, Class of 1936.
Mr. Calabro was Supervisor of Accounting at US Metals in Carteret for 45 years, retiring in 1982. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during WWII and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a life member of the Hopelawn Memorial Post 1352 VFW and the Disabled American Veterans Post 52 of Edison, and was Past President of Hopelawn Seniors’ Club. He also served as a member of the Mayor’s Senior Advisory Committee in Woodbridge from 1986-1994 and volunteered as a tax aid for AARP.
He was predeceased by his parents Vincent and Margaret Calabro, his sister Mary Krilla and his brother, Francis.
Survived by: Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Josephine Mickus Calabro and his daughters and sons-in-law, Eileen Calabro of Sicklersville, Linda and Richard Laustsen of Bridgewater, Joanne and Stephen Schulte of Lawrenceville and Patricia and Fred Schmauk of Langhorne, PA. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Jessica, Eric and Matthew Schmauk and Douglas Laustsen, his sisters-in-law, Annie, Helen and Mary, his brother-in-law, Edward and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Sunday, August 28, 2005 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m.

D. Emily Brose
Life Dates: May 9, 1917 - August 30, 2005
D. Emily Brose, age 88, died on Tuesday at her home in Fords. She was born in Perth Amboy and resided in Edison, Freehold and Piscataway before moving to Fords 58 years ago.
Mrs. Brose was a homemaker and also worked as a Secretary in the Human Resources Department of E I Dupont in Parlin for 8 years. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fords and also the Danish Sisterhood in Edison.
Survived by: Surviving are her husband of 57 years, William Brose, her son and daughter-in-law, William J. and Sherry Brose of Bensalem, PA, her daughters, Barbara Brose of Maplewood and Lois La Manna of Fords, her grandchildren, Jason, Brose, Stacy and Thomas, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Friday, September 2, 2005 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m.
