William Collins, 83
Owned Company; Wrote Book on Film Sound and Scoring
William H. Collins, 83, of Conyngham, Pa., died on Thursday, March 16, 2000 in Hazelton, Pa.
Born in Westfield, the son of Edna and Roi Collins, he had lived there for 60 years before moving to Conyngham in 1978.
Mr. Collins had been employed as General Manager of the Sony speaker manufacturing facility in Delano, Pa. before retiring in 1982.
He began his career with Western Electric during World War II and subsequently founded Collins Audio Products, a Mountainside-based business selling build-it-yourself, high fidelity FM/ AM radio kits by mail.
He later developed background music broadcast systems for retail stores.
Mr. Collins wrote a book entitled “The Amateur Filmmaker’s Handbook of Sound Sync & Scoring, ” which was published in 1974.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Christine Collins, in January of 1964.
Surviving are his wife, Ursula Meinhold Collins, whom he married in 1937; a son, Peter Collins of Darien, Conn., and two grandchildren.
A committal service will be held on Saturday, May 13, at 11 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
Arrangements were handled by the Mark S. Harman Funeral Home in Conyngham.
Memorial contributions may be made to organizations supporting Alzheimer’s Disease research.

Muriel T. Wolff, 76
Muriel T. Wolff, 76, of Scotch Plains died on Monday, April 24, 2000 in the Hospital Center at Orange.
Born in Brooklyn, she resided in Scotch Plains since 1977.
Mrs. Wolff was employed as a receptionist with the Westfield Center, Genesis ElderCare Network in Westfield for 21 years.
Surviving are a daughter, Nancy Rager; a son, Donald E. Wolff, 2nd, and two grandchildren.
Services were held on Thursday, April 27, in Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church in Westfield, following the funeral from the Rossi Funeral Home in Scotch Plains.

Joseph Ginder, 80
Joseph Ginder, 80, of Fanwood died on Tuesday, May 2, 2000 in Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield.
Born in Elizabeth, he moved to Fanwood many years ago.
Mr. Ginder had been an automobile technician for 40 years before retiring in 1985, having worked for Bell Motors in Rahway and later for the Woodbridge Ford Company.
He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a member of American Legion Post No. 209 in Scotch Plains.
Surviving are a daughter, Kathleen G. Paczosa; two sisters, Jean Cerulli and Mary Olsen, and three grandchildren.
A Mass was offered on Saturday, May 6, in St. Bartholomew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Scotch Plains, following the funeral from the Rossi Funeral Home in Scotch Plains.

Anna Drotar Ivano, 83
Anna Drotar Ivano, 83, died on Thursday, May 4, 2000 at the Delaire Nursing Home in Linden.
Born in Perth Amboy, she had lived in Carteret for 50 years before entering the nursing home four years ago.
Mrs. Ivano formerly co-owned Paul’s Tavern in Carteret for 30 years.
She was a parishioner of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church in Carteret and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of St. Elias Catholic War Veterans Post No. 797 in Carteret.
She was predeceased by her husband, Paul Ivano, in 1964, and also by a brother, Michael Drotar.
Surviving are a daughter, Eleanore Mullan of Westfield; a sister, Mary of Czechoslovakia; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 6, at the Synowiecki Funeral Home in Carteret, followed by a Mass at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Interment took place at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery in Colonia.

Franklyn Terry, 76
Had Been Owner Of Terry Lou Zoo in Scotch Plains
Franklyn Tuttle Terry, 76, of Avon Park, Fla., the owner of the former Terry Lou Zoo in Scotch Plains, died on Monday, April 10, 2000 in Wauchula, Fla.
Born in Plainfield, he had lived in Scotch Plains for many years before relocating to Avon Park in 1993.
Mr. Terry and his wife, the late Louise Terry, operated the Terry Lou Zoo on a six-acre spread Terrill Road for more than 40 years before selling it in 1993 and relocating to Florida.
Having begun as a petting zoo, the facility evolved over the years into a habitat for a myriad of species large and small, ranging from chimpanzees to lions, tigers and giraffes.
After it was sold to a new owner, the zoo was plagued by problems for several years before finally closing in 1997.
Mr. Terry had served as a tail gunner in a B17 Bomber in the United States Air Force during World War II.
He was predeceased by his wife in August of 1998.
Surviving are a son, Franklyn A. Terry of Greensboro, N.C.; a brother, Irving Terry of Vero Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were handled by the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home of Avon Park, Fla.
Memorial donations may be made to the 8th Air Force Heritage Museum, P. O. Box 1992, Savannah, Ga., 31402.

Maria Amicucci, 72
Maria Amicucci, 72, of Garwood died on Saturday, May 6, 2000 at home.
Born in Westfield, she moved to Garwood in 1958.
Mrs. Amicucci was a waitress at Marisa’s Restaurant in Cranford for many years.
She was a member of the Garwood Senior Citizens Club, the Sons of Italy in Garwood and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Monsignor John M. Walsh Knights of Columbus Council No. 5437 in Garwood.
Surviving are a daughter, Vallorie Cambell, and two grandchildren.
A Mass was offered on Tuesday, May 9, in St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church in Garwood.
Arrangements were handled by the Dooley Funeral Home, 218 North Avenue in Cranford.

Anthony J. Grausso, 87
Was Consultant; Had Owned Scotch Plains Getty Station
Anthony J. Grausso, 87, of Cranford died on Monday, November 23, 1998 at Cranford Health and Extended Care Center.
Born in Plainfield, he had moved to Fanwood in 1959 and relocated to Cranford in 1994.
Mr. Grausso had been a consultant for the New Jersey Gasoline Retailer Association in Springfield, where he worked for 20 years before retiring in 1988.
He had previously owned Grausso Getty in Scotch Plains. Mr. Grausso was a member of the Scotch Plains Lions and the Protective and Benevolent Order of Elks in Elizabeth.
He was predeceased by his wife, Josephine Grausso, in 1992.
Surviving are a son, Louis A. Grausso of Highland Mills, New York, and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 28, at the Rossi Funeral Home in Scotch Plains.

Gilbert A. Guarino, 80
Gilbert A. Guarino, 80, of Scotch Plains died on Wednesday, November 25, 1998 at home.
Born and raised in The Bronx, he lived in Scotch Plains since 1957.
Mr. Guarino had been a hospital administrator with the Veterans Administration Hospital in East Orange before retiring in 1984 after 42 years of service.
He received his undergraduate degree from Columbia University in New York City, and his master’s degree from the same school in 1940.
Mr. Guarino served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army in Europe during World War II.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Helen Chashin Guarino.
Surviving are his wife, Joan Eisenbeil Guarino; a son, Gilbert B. Guarino; two daughters, Roberta Guarino and Patricia Burdulia; a brother, Christopher Guarino, and four grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, November 28, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church in Scotch Plains.
Interment took place at Woodlawn Cemetery in The Bronx.
Arrangements were handled by the Dooley Funeral Home, 218 North Avenue in Cranford.
Memorial donations may be made to the Center for Hope Hospice, 176 Hussa Street in Linden, 07036, or to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Box E, 1275 York Avenue, New York, 10021.
