Joan D. Ketcham, 78, of Westfield died on Saturday, April 10, 1999 in Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Born in Quebec, Canada, she had lived in Elizabeth before moving to Westfield in 1944.
Mrs. Ketcham graduated with a degree in French from the University of Michigan in 1942.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frank A. Ketcham, in 1990.
Surviving are two sons, Michael A. Ketcham of Gig Harbor, Washington and John D. Ketcham of Kinnelon; three daughters, Kathy E. Ketcham of Walla Walla, Washington, Billy K. Heath of Arlington, Washington and Debbie K. Goodeve of Redmond, Washington, and 14 grandchildren.
A private memorial service was held at the Ketcham Chapel at the Frost Valley YMCA.
Arrangements were handled by the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street in Westfield.
Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Children's Specialized Hospital in Mountainside or to The Westfield Foundation.

Fay Lasky, 80
Retired NYC Teacher; Member of Hadassah in Brooklyn
Fay Lasky, 80, of Englishtown died on Friday, April 9, 1999 at the Centrastate Medical Center in Freehold.
Born in New York City, she had resided in Brooklyn before moving to Englishtown 20 years ago.
Mrs. Lasky had been a teacher at PS 99 in New York City for 17 years prior to retiring 20 years ago.
She was a member of Hadassah of Brooklyn.
Surviving are her husband, Irving Lasky; a son, Michael Lasky of Manhattan Beach, California; a daughter, Laura Beller of Westfield, and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, April 11.
Arrangements were handled by the Menorah Chapels at Millburn in Union.

Elaine R. Toll, 63
Elaine R. Della Sala Toll, 63, of Westfield died on Friday, April 9, 1999 at Rahway Hospital.
Born and raised in Cranford, she had lived in Westfield for the last 30 years.
Mrs. Toll was a secretary for George Toll L.L.C. in Cranford for 10 years.
Surviving are her husband of 43 years, George Toll; two daughters, Donna Stone and Diana Verry; a brother, William Della Sala, and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 14, at the Dooley Funeral Home, 218 North Avenue in Cranford.
Interment was at Rosedale Cemetery in Linden.

Christine Bachert, 85
Den Mother; Worked for Westfield School System
Christine Bachert, 85, of Westfield died on Sunday, April 11, 1999 at the Ashbrook Nursing Home in Scotch Plains.
Born in Ozone Park, Queens, New York, she had lived in Westfield for over 51 years.
Mrs. Bachert was employed by the Westfield Board of Education in the Food Service Division for many years.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Westfield.
Mrs. Bachert also was active with the Washington Rock Council of The Girl Scouts of America.
She was a Den Mother for the Cub Pack sponsored by the McKinley Elementary School.
She was predeceased by her husband, Rudolph Bachert, in 1976.
Surviving are two daughters, Susan L. Gandy of Westfield and Judith W. Schmidt of Meyersville; one son, George Bachert of Highlands; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held on Wednesday, April 14, at the Greenfield Cemetery in Hempstead, Long Island.
Arrangements were handled by the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street in Westfield.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Gabrielle Stabenow, 64
Gabrielle Stabenow, 64, of Westfield died on Sunday, April 11, 1999 in the Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield.
Born in Czechoslovakia, she had lived in Scotch Plains before moving to Westfield 19 years ago.
Mrs. Stabenow was a member of the Deutscher Club of Clark.
Surviving are a son, Gerald Stabenow; five sisters; two brothers, and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, April 15, in the Walter Johnson Funeral Home, 803 Raritan Road in Clark.

Eva Kamerofsky, 72
Eva Kamerofsky, 72, of Westfield died on Monday, April 12, 1999 in Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Born in Roselle Park, she had moved to Westfield 48 years ago.
Mrs. Kamerofsky was a communicant of Holy Trinity Church, Westfield.
She was predeceased by her husband, William Kamerofsky, in 1980.
Surviving are a daughter, Kristine Wansaw of Westfield; three sons, Peter Duelks of Schenectady, New York, Ron Duelks of Stanhope and Gary Duelks of Keansburg; three brothers, Nick Matlaga of Westfield, Michael Matlaga of Florida and John Matlaga of Garwood; four sisters, Bessie Rung of Union, Anne Cihowski of Pennsylvania, Mary Taylor of Hackettstown and Helen Ciglia of Roselle Park; and three grandchildren.
A Funeral Liturgy will be held today, April 15, at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church.
Arrangements were handled by the Dooley Funeral Home, 556 Westfield Avenue, Westfield.

Richard Davis, 89
Longtime Deacon; Master Brick Mason Over 60 Years
Richard Davis, 89, of Fanwood died on Thursday, April 22, 1999 at home.
Born in Fort Gaines, Georgia, he had lived in Edison before moving to Fanwood 33 years ago.
Mr. Davis was a Deacon for over 60 years at the Mount Olive Baptist Church in Plainfield.
He also was a master brick mason with Bricklayers Union Local No. 18 in Elizabeth for 50 years.
He was predeceased by his wife, Era Louise Davis.
Surviving are a daughter, Vernita Williams of Florida; four sons, Richard C. Davis, Jr. of Greensboro, North Carolina; Raymond J. Davis of Orange; Hubert L. Davis of Fanwood and Robert E. Davis of Scotch Plains; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 27, in the Mount Olive
Baptist Church. Arrangements were handled by the Judkins Colonial Home in Plainfield.

Audrey Lindy
Audrey Lindy of Scotch Plains died on Wednesday, April 7, 1999 in Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield.
Born in Newark, she had lived in Elizabeth and West Orange before moving to Scotch Plains more than 13 years ago.
Surviving are her husband, Ronald Lindy; a daughter, Ellen Shapiro; a son, Jon Lindy; a brother, Allan Moscowitz; and three grandchildren.
Funeral Services were held on Friday, April 23, in the Menorah Chapels at Millburn in Union.
