LUCKENBAUGH, CAROL
LUCKENBAUGH, CAROL, of Williamsburg, VA, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2000.
Carol was a wonderful wife, mom, grandmother and friend.
She is survived by her husband, Dwight; four sons and daughters-in-law and six adoring grandchildren: Dean, Robin, Rachel and Joshua of Richmond, VA, David, Ruth Anne, Megan and Noah of Clifton, VA, Scott, Pam, Justin, and Alex of Somerset, NJ, and Jason and Danielle of Odenton, MD; her mother, Viola Bair of Camp Hill, PA. She is also survived by her parents-in-law, Harold and Catherine Luckenbaugh of Harrisburg, PA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ken and Joyce George of Camp Hill, PA, Harold and Patty Luckenbaugh of Mechanicsburg, PA, and Sharon Wentling of Camp Hill, PA.
She was predeceased by her father, Horace, and sister Gloria.
She was active in the Williamsburg Women’s Club, Ford’s Colony Travel, Computer and Ladies Golf Association.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Carol Luckenbaugh Memorial Fund, c/ o Shady Grove YMCA Bright Beginnings, 11255 Nuckols Road, Glen Allen, VA 23059.

Charles Van Pelt, 86
Cost Accountant; Plant Buyer for DuPont for 40 Years
Charles H. Van Pelt, 86, of Scotch Plains died Wednesday, December 23, 1998 in Runnells Specialized Hospital in Berkeley Heights.
Born in Elizabeth, he had lived in Cranford before moving to Scotch Plains 47 years ago.
Mr. Van Pelt was a United States Navy World War II veteran.
He was a Cost Accountant and Plant Buyer for DuPont in Linden for 40 years before retiring in 1972.
Mr. Van Pelt was a member of the Willow Grove Presbyterian Church in Scotch Plains where he served as the Financial Secretary for 10 years.
He was also a member of Azure Lodge No. 129 of the Free and Accepted Masons in Cranford and was Master of the Lodge in 1956.
He was the Grand Master of New Jersey Masonic Lodges in 1982 and was a dual member and Secretary of the Hope Lodge No. 124.
Mr. Van Pelt was also a member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Northern New Jersey since March of 1952 and was Most Wise Master in 1965, Commander in Chief and a Trustee in 1971.
He became a Sovereign Grand Inspector General, 33rd degree, Honorary Member of the Supreme Council in Pittsburgh on September 27, 1967.
He was the first Treasurer and former Secretary of the Valley of North New Jersey in Two Bridges from 1972 to 1984.
Mr. Van Pelt was also a member of the Corinthian Chapter No. 57 Royal Arch Mason, the New Jersey Commandery No. 19 Knights Templar, the Ark of the Covenant Council No. 158, A.M.D. of the USA and a Fellow of the Grand College of rites of the USA.
In addition, he was a member of the Paumanock No. 4 Grand Council Knight Masons of the USA, the Ye Ancient Order of Corks of the USA, the Masonic Order of the Bath of the USA, and the Salaam Shrine Temple in Livingston.
He was also a member and Secretary of the Salaam Temple Ritual Team since 1970, and a member and former Chaplain of the Northern New Jersey Chapter No. 42, National Sojourners since May 24, 1976.
Surviving are his wife, Inez King Van Pelt; a daughter, Karen Salvatoriello of Norwalk, Connecticut; a son, C. Steven Van Pelt of Independence, and four grandchildren.
A Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, December 29, in the chapel at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge.
Arrangements were handled by the Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Avenue, Fanwood.

Warren Sutton, 76
Warren E. Sutton, 76, of Rochelle Park died Saturday, December 26, 1998 in Rahway Hospital.
Born in Park Ridge, Illinois he lived there for 30 years and in Westfield for 10 years, before moving to Rochelle Park.
Mr. Sutton was a youth bowling director for the Bowling Proprietor’s Association of America in Park Ridge.
He served in the Navy during World War II.
Surviving are two daughters, Jessica Morris and Lynn Sutton; a son, David Sutton; a sister, Carol Pickering; and two brothers, Allan Sutton and Ken Sutton.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 29, in Volk-Leber Funeral Home in Teaneck.

Grace C. Mirabella, 62
Office Manager; Was Employed 43 Years With Legal Firm
Grace C. Mirabella, 62, a lifelong resident of Westfield, died on Friday, December 25, 1998 at home.
Miss Mirabella graduated from Westfield High School in 1954 and later from the Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School.
She worked at the law firm of Sachar, Sachar and Bernstein and its successors for 43 years.
Miss Mirabella was most recently employed as an office manager, bookkeeper and paralegal at the law firm of Bernstein and Hoffman.
She was a communicant of the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Westfield.
She was predeceased by her parents, August and Jennie Mirabella.
Surviving are a brother, August Mirabella, and a nephew, Michael August Mirabella, both of North Wales, Pennsylvania.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Tuesday, December 29, at the Holy Trinity Church.
Interment took place at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
Arrangements were handled by the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street in Westfield.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, 315 First Street, Westfield, 07090.

Claire M. Lahue, 74
Claire Margaret Lahue, 74, of Wilmington, North Carolina, formerly of Westfield, died on Sunday, December 27, 1998 in Cape Fear Memorial Hospital.
Born in East Landsdowne, Pennsylvania on February 2, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Archibald and Margaret Doughtery MacMinn.
Mrs. Lahue was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wilmington.
Surviving are her husband, Robert Henry Lahue, Sr.; three sons, Robert Lahue, Jr. of Wilmington, North Carolina, Michael Lahue of Essex Fells and Brian Lahue of Hillside; two daughters, Mary Anne Wood of Linden and Kathleen Courtney of Manahawkin, and eight grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered yesterday, Wednesday, December 30, in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Interment followed in Oleander Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements were under the direction of Andrews Mortuary in Wilmington.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Building Fund, 6650 Carolina Beach Road, Wilmington, North Carolina, 28412.

Catherine Houts, 82
Catherine Houts, 82, of Seminole, Florida, died on Friday, December 18, 1998 at the Freedom Square Nursing Center there.
Born in Westfield, she moved to Seminole in 1979 from Wisconsin.
She was a homemaker. Mrs. Houts was a Girl Scout leader, a volunteer for the American Red Cross and Meals on Wheels, and a member of King’s Daughters, all in Neenah, Wisconsin.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Kenneth Houts; three daughters, Nancy Hughes of East Aurora, New York, Susan Arnold of Portland, Maine, and Sandra Maynard of England; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
North American Cremation Society in Deerfield Beach, Florida, was in charge of the arrangements.

John Boulden, 86
World War II Veteran; Employed by NJ Dept. of Transportation
John F. Boulden, 86, of Scotch Plains died on Sunday, December 27, 1998 at Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Born in Trenton, he had lived there before moving to Scotch Plains in 1962.
He was a United States Army Air Corp veteran of World War II.
Mr. Boulden had begun working for the New Jersey Department of Transportation in 1929, and retired as the foreman of the Newark Garage in 1973.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 5635 in Lackawaxen, Pennsylvania.
He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Scotch Plains.
Surviving are his wife, Arabel Ziesel Boulden; a daughter, Betty Ann Bagan of Scotch Plains; a sister, Gladys Ertle of Scranton, Pennsylvania; a brother, Frederick R. Boulden of Ovieda, Florida, and a grandson.
Funeral services were held yesterday, Wednesday, December 30, at the Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Avenue in Fanwood. Interment was private.
Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Scotch Plains Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 325, Scotch Plains, 07076.

Emil J. Verdoni, 76
Emil “Kenny” J. Verdoni, 76, of Elberon, died Tuesday, December 22, 1998 at the home of his son, Dr. Richard Verdoni, in West Orange.
Born in Jersey City, he lived in Westfield before moving to Elberon in 1958.
Mr. Verdoni was a member of Local 19 Wine and Liquor Union of New Jersey in Union for 53 years.
He served as president of the union from 1985 to 1997.
Surviving are two sons, Dr. Richard Verdoni of West Orange and Kenneth Verdoni; a daughter, Joanne Green; a brother, Gabriel Verdoni; and a grandchild.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home in Livingston.
