Anthony Santo Salvo, Jr., 91
Had Been Roll Operator for Union Carbide Corp.
Anthony R. Santo Salvo, Jr., 91, a lifelong resident of Scotch Plains, died on Monday, October 23, 2000 at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Scotch Plains.
Mr. Santo Salvo had been employed as a roll operator for the Union Carbide Corporation in Bound Brook for 33 years before retiring in 1974.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marion McDede Santo Salvo, in 1985, and by his son, James R. Santo Salvo, in 1994.
Surviving are a daughter, Annetta M. Santo Salvo of Scotch Plains; a brother, Wilbur Santo Salvo of Scotch Plains; four sisters, Gloria Geschwidner and Eugenia Serina of Warren, Marie Haller of Middlesex and Victoria Caruso of Neptune.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, October 27, at the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Westfield.
Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
Arrangements are being handled by the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street in Westfield.

John S. Neesan, 75
John “Jack” S. Neesan, 75, of South Plainfield died on Tuesday, October 24, 2000 at Saint Peter’s Regional Medical Center in New Brunswick.
Born and raised in Elizabeth, he relocated to South Plainfield 46 years ago.
Mr. Neesan had been a salesman for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in Plainfield for 20 years.
He later was the lounge manager for the former King George Inn in Warren for 15 years before retiring in 1990.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in South Plainfield.
Surviving are his wife, Sally Tufano Neesan; a son, John A. Neesan of South Plainfield; two daughters, Alice Bach of South Plainfield and Jacqueline Mosca of Dunellen; two sisters, Alice Bongiovanni of New Canaan, Conn. and Marion Mazza of Scotch Plains, and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will take place at 8 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, October 27, from the James W. Conroy Funeral Home in South Plainfield, followed by a 9 a.m. Mass at St. John’s Roman Catholic Church in Dunellen.
Burial will take place at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery in South Plainfield.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. today, Thursday, October 26, at the funeral home.

Edith Haines, 93
Edith Haines, 93, of Wellfleet, Mass., died on Tuesday, October 10, 2000 in the Pleasant Bay Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brewster, Mass.
Born in Oxford, Pa. on January 18, 1907, she had lived in Westfield from 1942 to 1956 and in Delaware Township in Hunterdon County from 1956 to 1991, when she relocated to Wellfleet.
Mrs. Haines was a volunteer in garden therapy for many years at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Lyons.
She also served as Commissioner of the Westfield Girl Scout Council and was a senior leader for the Girl Scouts.
She was a member of the Community Garden Club of Flemington; the Mountainside Garden Club; the Lyons Garden Club and the Hunterdon County Nature Club.
Mrs. Haines was also a member of the Friends Meeting in Quakertown.
She graduated from Oxford High School in Pennsylvania and from Goucher College in Towson, Md., with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Botany.
She was predeceased by her husband, Paul L. Haines, in 1995, and by a son, William P. Haines, in 1998.
Surviving are a daughter, Baily C. Ruckert of Wellfleet; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Private services and interment at the Penn Hill Cemetery in Peach Bottom, Pa., were arranged by the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home in Flemington.

LONG, CAROL ANN
LONG, CAROL ANN, age 57, of Canton died Saturday, October 14, 2000 in her home.
Survived by daughter, Cathy Stockall, and grandson, Shane Stockall, both of the home; sisters and brothers-in-law Judy & Roger Higgins of Jackson Township, and Nancy and Fred Kimble of Clinton, NJ; niece, Victoria and Brian Baxter of North Canton; nephew, Mike and Abby Kimble of VA, and loving companion, Harry Aslanes.
Friends may call Tuesday, at Karlo & Sons Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 325 Third St., SE, Massillon, OH 44646.

William Wilson, 75
Honored by Local 'Y'; Active in Church, Scouting, Other Groups
William Patrick Wilson, 75, of Westfield died on Sunday, March 28, 1999 at Rahway Hospital in Rahway.
Born in Kansas City, Missouri, he lived in Westfield since 1965.
Mr. Wilson had been in the fire and casualty insurance business for 47 years before retiring in 1994 from Adlerman & Click in Princeton, where he was employed for 25 years.
Mr. Wilson served in the United States Merchant Marine as a communications officer in the Mediterranean during World War II.
He graduated from Kansas City Junior College and from the United States Maritime Academy in Kingsport, New York.
He was a member and former officer of the "Y" Men's Club in Westfield, which honored him by submitting his name in 1989 for entry in the Golden Book of Y'sdom in Geneva. He was a volunteer with the club's Christmas tree lot for 30 years.
He additionally served on the Board of Directors for Camp Spears/Eljabar, the YMCA Camp in the Poconos, for many years.
He received the Golden Man Award from the Westfield "Y" in 1993.
Mr. Wilson was a Deacon of The Presbyterian Church in Westfield, and served on the Board of the Revolutionary Church Cemetery during its restoration.
He was a Trustee of the Westfield Historical Society and of the Miller-Cory House Museum in Westfield, and was a board member of the Neighborhood Council in Westfield and of the Westfield Community Center.
He was also a volunteer with Westfield Little League, and with Boy Scout Troop No. 172 in Westfield and the Boy Scout Camp in Glen Gardner. With his wife, he had been a member of the Westfield Community Players for 20 years.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Lucy Wilson; a son, John Wilson of Scotch Plains; a daughter, Jeanmarie Keenan of Fanwood, and two grandsons.
A memorial service was held yesterday, Wednesday, March 31, at The Presbyterian Church in Westfield.
Arrangements were handled by the Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Avenue in Fanwood.
Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Westfield "Y" or to the Westfield Rescue Squad.

Anita Swallow, 75
Anita Swallow, 75, died on Thursday, December 10, 1999 in Lakewood.
Born in Bayonne on October 29, 1923, she had lived in Westfield before moving to Lakewood.
Mrs. Swallow was an interior and graphic designer and an artist.
She was a member of the Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church in Lakewood, and a volunteer at Gemini House Youth Hostel, as well as a prayer chain coordinator.
She graduated from Westfield High School in 1941.
Surviving are her husband, George Swallow, who she married on September 15, 1944 in Westfield; two sons, Stephen Swallow of West Newbury, Massachusetts and George Swallow, Jr. of Concord, Massachusetts; three daughters, Nancy Cox of Richmond, Virginia, Betsy Herrera of Greeley, Colorado, and Peg McMillen of Golden, Colorado, and 12 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Monday, December 14, at the Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church.

Marie A. D'Addario, 87
Retired Teacher; Formerly Lived in Westfield for 84 Years
Marie Ann Mannino D'Addario, 87, of Fanwood died on Friday, March 26, 1999 in Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Born in New York City, she had lived in Westfield for 84 years before moving to Fanwood two years ago.
Mrs. D'Addario had been employed by the Clark Board of Education for 32 years, mainly as a first grade teacher.
She had worked at Abraham Clark School, Charles Brewer School and for many years at Hehnly School, all in Clark, before retiring in 1979.
Mrs. D'Addario graduated from the Newark Normal School in 1933 with a teaching certificate, and earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from Columbia University in New York City in 1941.
She was a member of the New Jersey Education Association, and a communicant of the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Westfield.
Her husband, Tullio D'Addario, died in 1966.
Surviving are three daughters, Mildred D'Addario of Pennsauken, Sally Ann D'Addario of North Plainfield and Kathleen Sheehan of Middletown; a sister, Angelina Pellegrino of Bridgewater; three brothers, Rosario Mannino of Hackensack, Alfred Mannino of Scottsdale, Arizona and Joseph Mannino of South Carolina, and five grandchildren.
A Funeral Liturgy was held on Tuesday, March 30, in the Holy Trinity Church. Interment took place at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery in South Plainfield.
Arrangements were handled by the Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Avenue in Westfield.
Memorial donations may be made to the Town of Westfield, Public Library, Children's Department, 550 East Broad Street, Westfield, 07090.

Joseph A. Nigito, 64,
Joseph A. Nigito, 64, of Lakehurst died on Friday, March 26, 1999 in the Community Medical Center in Toms River.
Born in Elizabeth, he had lived in Westfield for 30 years before moving to Lakehurst six months ago.
Mr. Nigito had been a quality control engineer for Breeze Eastern Corporation in Union for 20 years before retiring.
He was also an entertainer and an instructor of country music for 18 years in Westfield.
He was the founder of the New Jersey Country Music Association, and was a member of the United Country Western Bands Association of New Jersey.
Mr. Nigito was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 3310 in Elizabeth.
Surviving are his wife, Wilma Nigito; a daughter, Susan Georgio; a son, Frank Nigito; a sister, Rose Fieretto; a brother, Peter Nigito, and three grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass was offered on Tuesday, March 30, in St. Helen's Roman Catholic Church in Westfield.
Arrangements were handled by the Krowicki Gorny Memorial Home in Clark.
