William E. Dority, 71
William E. Dority, 71, of Greensboro, N.C. died on Friday, November 5, 1999 in the Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Center in Durham, N.C.
Born in Toledo, Ohio, he had lived in Westfield for 30 years before moving to Greensboro in 1998.
Mr. Dority had been the Vice President of Decor Inc. in Englewood, where he worked for many years before retiring.
He was a graduate of Toledo University in Toledo, Ohio.
Mr. Dority served in the United States Air Force in the early 1950s and was a member of the Atlas Grand Lodge Free and Accepted Masons in New Jersey.
Surviving are a daughter, Melinda Spencer Housh; a son, William Bradley; a sister, Evelyn D. Stoll, and two grandchildren.
Arrangements were handled by the Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home in Greensboro.

Mitchell Krauss, 68
Business Owner; Won Distinguished Service Award
Mitchell Krauss, 68, of Westfield died on Thursday, November 4, 1999 in Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Born in Morristown, he had lived in Florham Park before moving to Westfield 37 years ago.
Mr. Krauss was co-owner of J.M. Kesslinger & Associates of Union for 44 years.
He was a 38-year member of the New Jersey Chapter of the Business Marketing Association and received the organization’s Distinguished Service Award in 1981.
He served on the Board of Trustees of the New Jersey Ad Club of Kearny, the League of Advertising Agencies in New York City and was on the Board of Directors of the New Jersey Group of Small Chemical Businesses in Summit.
Mr. Krauss also served on the Board of Trustees of the Inventors Hall of Fame at the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark.
He was a 1952 graduate of Drew University and did his post-graduate work in history at Columbia University and American University in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Krauss studied industrial public relations at the Bernard Baruch School of Business in New York City.
He served in the United States Army during peace time.
Surviving are his wife, Joy Krauss; two daughters, Susan Krauss and Caroline Bogart; a son, Bill Krauss; a brother, Harold Krauss, and two sisters, Hannah Walitsky and Sylvia Friedman.
Services were held on Sunday, November 7, at Temple Emanu-El in Westfield.
Arrangements were handled by the Menorah Chapels at Millburn in Union.

Mary J. Jenkins, 79
Mary Jane Jenkins, 79, of North Beach died on Sunday, November 7, 1999 at home.
Born in Midland, Pa., she had lived in Scotch Plains and Valhalla, N.Y. before moving to North Beach 15 years ago.
Mrs. Jenkins served with the United States NAVY Waves during World War II and was a member of the Navy League.
She was a secular Franciscan and a Eucharistic minister at St. Francis of Assisi Church.
Surviving are her husband, Sheldon Jenkins; a son, Kenneth C. Jenkins, and three grandchildren.
A Mass was offered yesterday, Wednesday, November 10, following the funeral from the Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home of Manahawkin.

Mildred Magnolia, 91
Mildred Magnolia, 91, of Linden died on Saturday, October 30, 1999 at the John E. Runnells Specialized Hospital in Berkeley Heights.
Born in Elizabeth, she lived in Linden for over 50 years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frank J. Magnolia, Sr., in 1972.
Surviving are two sons, Frank J. Magnolia, Jr. of Mountainside and Charles Magnolia of Port Saint Lucie, Fla.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services were held Thursday, November 4, at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
Arrangements were handled by the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street in Westfield.

Dorothy Andrews, 70
Dorothy L. Andrews, 70, of Westfield died on Friday, August 6, 1999 at Genesis ElderCare Center in Westfield.
She was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her husband, Nicholas Andrews, in 1988.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 20, at St. Joseph’s Shrine, 1050 Long Hill Road in Stirling.
Arrangements are being handled by the Valley Memorial Funeral Home in Gillette.

Jonathan Katz, 35
Jonathan Katz, 35, of Mountainside died on Sunday, November 7, 1999.
Born in Newark, he had lived in Hillside before moving to Mountainside 25 years ago.
Mr. Katz worked for Forgione Trucking in Plainfield.
Surviving are his parents, Edward and Muriel Katz; a daughter, Amanda Wachsberg, and a sister, Linda Verduo.
Services were held on Tuesday, November 9, in B’nai Abraham Memorial Park in Union.
Arrangements were handled by the Menorah Chapels at Millburn in Union.

James F. Spencer, 68
Was Rotarian, Mason and Member of Pilots’ Group
James Fordyce Spencer, 68, of St. James Plantation, Southport, N.C. died on Friday, November 5, 1999 at the New Hanover Regional Medical Center Hospital.
Born on February 7, 1931, in Salamanca, N.Y., the son of the late James O. Spencer and Glendine Gates Spencer, he was a former resident of Westfield.
He was formerly a member of the Echo Lake Country Club of Westfield, the Rotary Club and the American Chamber of Commerce, both in the Philippines; the Masonic Lodge in New York and the Private Pilots Association and was a member of the North Carolina Senior Golf Association.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Carmencita Spencer; two daughters, Victoria S. Evans of Scotch Plains and Dawn M. Spencer of Westfield; two sisters, Suzanne Marquardt of Charlotte, N.C. and Christy Schwartzott of Glastonbury, Conn., and two grandchildren.
A Memorial service was held on Monday, November 8, in the St. James Chapel in St. James Plantation.

Dr. Frank F. Kaiser, Jr.
Was Air Force Veteran; General Surgeon in Westfield
Dr. Frank F. Kaiser, Jr. of Westfield died on Sunday, September 26, 1999 at Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Born in Peekskill, N. Y., he lived in Westfield since 1959.
Dr. Kaiser had been a general surgeon for the Westfield Medical Group for 25 years before retiring in 1985.
He graduated from the New York University School of Medicine in 1948.
He served in the United States Air Force Medical Corps from 1951 until being honorably discharged in 1953 with the rank of Captain.
Dr. Kaiser was a member of the Echo Lake Country Club in Westfield.
Surviving is his wife of 49 years, Margaret C. Kaiser; a son, Frank F. Kaiser, 3rd of Fanwood; two daughters, Margaret E. Kaiser of Westfield and Susan C.K. McBride of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a sister, Claire Kennedy of New City, N.Y. and two grandchildren.
A funeral service was held yesterday, Wednesday, September 29, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Westfield.
Interment was at Fairview Cemetery, also in Westfield.
Memorial donations may be made to the Westfield Volunteer Rescue Squad, 335 Watterson Street, Westfield, 07090.
Arrangements were handled by the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street in Westfield.

Margaret Bryson Finn, 83
Margaret Bryson Finn, 83, of Berkeley Heights died Wednesday, September 22, 1999 at Runnells Specialized Hospital in Berkeley Heights.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, she had lived in Westfield for many years before moving to Berkeley Heights.
Mrs. Finn was a member of the Westfield Senior Citizens.
She was predeceased by her husband, James Finn, in 1969.
Surviving are two sons, James Finn of Morristown and Leslie Finn of South Carolina; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 25, in the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street, Westfield.
