Doreene S. McCleane Aschettino

Ms. Aschettino, 61, of Eatontown, died March 27 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Newark, she resided in Middletown and Shrewsbury before moving to Eatontown more than 30 years ago. Ms. Aschettino was employed at the Red Bank Regional School District for the past 40 years. She was a parishioner of St. Dorothea’s Roman Catholic Church, Eatontown, and was active in several clubs and organizations. She is survived by three sisters, Elizabeth M. Van Wagner of Neptune, Gloria G. Moro of Manalapan and Mary Morley of Netherton, England; four nephews; two nieces; and several grandnieces and grandnephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated April 1 at 9 a.m. at St. Dorothea’s Church. Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. The Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch, is in charge of arrangements. Rose Marie Scotti

Mrs. Scotti, 91, of Los Angeles and formerly Red Bank, died March 18 in Santa Monica, Calif. Born in New York City, she resided in Rumson and Red Bank, prior to moving to Los Angeles three years ago. She was the co-owner and operator of Neil Scotti’s Market, Red Bank, for 40 years. She was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. She was past president of the St. James PTA, and the Middletown Women’s Club. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Neil A. Scotti in 1994. She is survived by a son, Neil Anthony Scotti of Beverly Hills, Calif. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. James Church. Interment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank.

Anna Conk

Mrs. Conk, 87, of Middletown, died March 18 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Rumson, she resided in Fair Haven for many years before moving to Middletown. Mrs. Conk was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Conk, in 1967. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Debbie Conk of Middletown, Joseph and Virginia Conk of Florida, and Walter and Betty Conk of Hutchinson Island, Fla.; a sister, Millie Ziegler; a sister-in-law, Edie Conk of Oceanport; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson. The John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, was in charge of arrangements.

Olga Dougherty

Mrs. Dougherty, 77, of Red Bank, died March 17 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. She was born in Jersey City. She was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her husband, John. She is survived by two sons, Wayne of Aberdeen, and Martin of Newark; and two grandchildren. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.

John William “Jack” Honchar Jr.

Mr. Honchar Jr., 68, of Rumson, died March 8 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Passaic, he resided in Garfield prior to moving to Rumson in 1970. He was a private label sales manager at White Cap Inc., Houston. He served with the U.S. Navy. He was a member of All Saints Memorial Episcopalian Church, Middletown. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Patricia Ruane Honchar in 2002. He is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Stephen John and Amy Honchar of Stockton, and Julian R. Honchar of Long Branch; a sister, Adwina M. Arends Honchar of Tinton Falls; and one grandchild. A memorial service was held at All Saints Church. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 801 Broad St., Shrewsbury 07702.

Cecilia T. Hollywood

Mrs. Hollywood, 94, of Red Bank, died March 14 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she had been a resident of Red Bank since 1948. Mrs. Hollywood was a homemaker. Prior to that, she was a secretary in New York City. She was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank, where she was a member of the Rosary Altar Society and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She was a past president of the St. James School PTA. Mrs. Hollywood was predeceased by her husband, George A. Hollywood, in 1983; a son, Andrew J. Hollywood; three sisters, Sister M. Martina, S.S.J., Catherine Chamberlin and Ann Young; and a brother, John Cogavin. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Maryalice Hollywood of Little Silver; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and William Oakerson of Middletown; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. James Church. Interment was at Presbyterian Church cemetery at Shrewsbury. The John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank, was in charge of arrangements.

George A Deitz

Mr. Deitz, 73, of Hobe Sound, Fla., died March 16 at Manors Nursing Home, Hobe Sound. He resided in Matawan before moving to Hobe Sound, 16 years ago. Before his retirement, Mr. Deitz had been a teacher, coach and athletic director at Matawan High School, where he compiled an outstanding winning record in baseball in Monmouth County’s Shore Conference. He served in the Korean War and received two Purple Hearts. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; four sons, Dr. Michael Deitz of Forked River, George Deitz Jr. of Tinton Falls, Terrence Deitz of Simsbury, Conn., and Thomas Deitz of San Diego; a daughter, Margaret Shea of Rockville, Conn.; two brothers, William Deitz of Hobe Sound and Hal Deitz of Owassa, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A memorial Mass will be celebrated April 2 at 11 a.m. at St. Christopher’s Church, Hobe Sound.

Robert John Cremeans

Mr. Cremeans, 84, of Eatontown, died March 13 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Philadelphia, he resided in Little Silver for 35 years, prior to moving to Eatontown a few months ago. He was the owner and operator of The Mermaid Diner, Atlantic Highlands, for 30 years. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II, and received a Purple Heart. He was predeceased by a son, John Cremeans; and two grandchildren, Amber and Joseph. He is survived by his wife of 60 yeas, Thelma Bartell Cremeans of Red Bank; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and James McNamara of Freehold; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Patty Cremeans of Florida; a daughter-in-law, Gina Cremeans of Middletown; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A memorial Mass will be March 16 at 10:230 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Arrangements are by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.

C. Raymond Petersen

Mr. Petersen, 94, of Rumson, died March 12 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He was born in New York City. He was the former president of Worcester (Mass.) Brush Company. He was an avid golfer, played in tournaments in England, Scotland and the United States, and won championships at several golf clubs in New York and New Jersey. He is survived by his wife, Marie Van Dugteren Petersen; two sons, Eric C. Petersen of Standfordville, N.Y., and John R. Petersen of Concord, N.H.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. Interment will be held at a later date at Tower Hill Botanic Gardens, West Boylston, Mass. Memorial donations may be made to Riverview Medical Center, 1 Riverview Plaza, Red Bank 07701.

Helen Elizabeth De Lisle Marzillier

Mrs. Marzillier, 87, of Matawan, died March 2 at home. Born in Newark, she resided in the Colonia section of Woodbridge and in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Rahway before moving to Matawan. Mrs. Marzillier was a librarian at Merck and Co., Woodbridge, where she was employed several years before retiring. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry Marzillier. She is survived by two brothers, Harold W. De Lisle of Colorado and Robert J. De Lisle of Red Bank; two sisters, Hazel De Lisle Weston of Red Bank and Carol De Lisle Meyers of East Brunswick; two nieces; and one nephew. Burial was at Rahway Cemetery, The Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick, was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Dougherty, 77, of Red Bank, died March 17 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. She was born in Jersey City. She was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her husband, John. She is survived by two sons, Wayne of Aberdeen, and Martin of Newark; and two grandchildren. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.

Natalie B. Thorpe

Mrs. Thorpe, 89, of Rumson, died March 18 at home. Born in Meriden, Conn., she resided in New York City and Red Bank prior to moving to Rumson. She was a retired charge nurse at the children’s department at New York Postgraduate Hospital, New York City, from 1941-42. Following that, she was active in nursing with volunteer work at St. James Grammar School and Red Bank Catholic High School, both Red Bank, and Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. She served with the U.S. Army Nurse Corps during World War II, serving under Gen. Douglas MacArthur, and was honorable discharged in 1945. She was active in the Women’s Club of Red Bank, and Monmouth Museum, Lincroft section of Middletown. She enjoyed gardening and music, and conducted caroling during the holidays in her neighborhood. She is survived by her husband, three daughters, one son, two grandsons, and one granddaughter. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, Rumson. Interment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater New Jersey Chapter, 400 Morris Ave., Suite 251, Denville 07834-1365.
