SARAH M. HIGGINS, 93, of the Belford section of Middletown died Feb. 14 at her niece’s home in Belford. Born in Harrison, she lived there and in Belleville prior to moving to Belford five years ago. She was the trust department supervisor for Howard Savings and Loan, Newark, for 25 years, retiring in 1967. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown; and a former communicant of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Belleville. Following retirement, she volunteered at Covenant House, N. Y.; and was a nurse’s aide at St. Michael’s Hospital, Newark, for several years. She was predeceased by her twin brother, Thomas Higgins in 1998; two brothers, Charles Higgins in 1984, and Philip Higgins in 1994; and her sister, Margaret Fetherston in 1978. She is survived by eight nieces, Helen Yahara, Dorothy Helbig, and Mary Hohenstein, all of Belford, Maureen Kerr of Hamilton, Ann Summerton and Regina Zackman, both of Florida, Mary Schwarz of Oceanport, and Frances Sperling of Arizona; and one nephew, Thomas Higgins of East Brunswick. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth. Burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.

CHASE THOMAS NELSON died Feb. 6 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune, where he was born Oct. 13. He is survived by his mother, Heather Nelson of Ocean Township; his grandmother, Jeanne "Oma" Nelson of Ocean Township; his grandfather, Thomas Nelson of Middletown; his great-grandmothers, Lillian Mueller of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Jean Nelson of Red Bank; and his aunt. Burial was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.

CARMINE J. AMBROSINO, 82, of Little Silver died Feb. 7 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Hoboken, he lived in Holmdel prior to moving to Little Silver 36 years ago. He was co-owner of the family business, formerly Twin Boro Motors, and now Buhler Dodge, Shrewsbury. He was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. His memberships included past member of the Knights of Columbus Council, Red Bank; past member of the Red Bank Kiwanis Club and the Holmdel Board of Education; and past president of the New Jersey Dealers Association. He was predeceased by a brother, Anthony Ambrosino. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Caroline M. Suppa Ambrosino of Little Silver; his son and daughter-in-law, Frank C. and Candy Ambrosino of Tinton Falls; his daughter and son-in-law, Jo Ann and John Angelucci of Oceanport; two brothers, Joseph Ambrosino of Florida, and Samuel J. Ambrosino of Tinton Falls; two sisters, Marge Genovese of Little Silver, and Florence Capriglione of Tinton Falls; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Interment was at Fair View Cemetery Mausoleum, Middletown.

The Honorable EMMA BAXTER POETER, 96, of Phoenix, Ariz., and formerly of Rumson, died Jan. 31 at Sun View Care Center, Youngtown, Ariz. She was born and educated in New York City, and lived in Rumson and Vermont prior to moving to Phoenix. She owned and operated the N.J. Equipment Co. Very active politically, she began as ward chairman and a member of the Essex County Republican Committee, and was the youngest candidate to run for the state Legislature. She was also a member of the U.S. Republican Senatorial Committee and U.S. Republican Congressional Committee. Upon moving to Vermont, she served in the Legislature, and served as Legislative Committee Chairman for the National Order of Women Legislators. She was a founder of the Center for International Security Studies of the American Security Council Education Foundation, an advisory board member of the American Security Council, and an active member of the National Tax Limitation Committee. She is survived by her daughter, Doris Baxter Jackson of Monmouth Beach; two sons, Robert Charles Baxter of Arlington Heights, Ill., and Richard Wells Baxter of Phoenix; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the First Church of Christ Scientist, 211 Broad St., Red Bank 07701.

RALPH CHESTER ANDERSEN, 82, of Red Bank died Feb. 17 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he lived in Staten Island, N.Y., prior to moving to Red Bank 12 years ago. He was a retired customer service representative for Ebasco Services, N.Y., for 30 years. He also worked for the B&O Railroad as an electrician’s assistant. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Staten Island. He was a Sea Scout Leader for the National Council of Boy Scouts of America. His memberships included the Electric Railroad Association, and he was a member and supporter of the Lieder Kranz Foundation, N.Y. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Carl W. and Elizabeth Andersen of New Port Richey, Fla.; his sister, Audrey C. Moodie of Middletown; two nieces, Sheila Ohnmacht and Nancy Pollinger, both of Middletown; and several other nieces and nephews.

JOSEPH G. LITTLE, 35, of Jersey City died Feb. 21 at St. Michael’s Medical Center, Newark. Born in Baltimore, Md., he lived in Towson, Md., and Eatontown prior to moving to Jersey City 10 years ago. He was a senior computer technician at Seton Hall University, South Orange. He was a communicant of St. Dorothea’s Roman Catholic Church, Eatontown. He had a love of music, and enjoyed playing clarinet. He was predeceased by his parents, Jacob H. and Gertrude Peck Little; and his brother, Harold Little. He is survived by his cousin and foster mother, Mary T. Purvis of Eatontown; and several other cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Dorothea’s Roman Catholic Church, Eatontown. Interment was at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia.

MARGARET DOBSON, 94, of Middletown died March 29 at her daughter’s home in Middletown. Born in New York City, she lived in Naples, Fla., for 25 years, and Atlantic Highlands prior to moving to Middletown four years ago. She was a secretary for Fort Monmouth, Eatontown, for 18 years, retiring in 1970. She was predeceased by her husband, Edwin J. Dobson in 1983; a daughter, Jane Woodward; and a son, Thomas Dobson. She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Horan of Middletown, and Robin Dobson of New York City; two sons and daughters-in-law, Edwin and Carol Dobson of Middletown, and Raymond and Joanne Dobson of East Orleans, Mass.; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.

LINDAL I. "BROWNIE" BROWN, 69, of Oceanport died March 31 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Summer Shade, Ky., he resided in Long Branch for the past 15 years. He was the owner and founder of Brown’s Heating & Cooling, Shrewsbury. He was an elder for 20 years at the Monmouth Church of Christ, Tinton Falls. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Walbert. He is survived by his wife, Joyce E. Adams Brown of Oceanport; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Larry E. and Jeanne M. Brown of West Long Branch, and Douglas Brown; two daughters, Linda Fay Brown of Oceanport and Carolyn Elaine Brown of Brick; five brothers, Charles Brown, Bill Brown, David Brown, Jerry Brown and B.J. Brown; two sisters, Suzie Layne and Carol Rector; and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Monmouth Church of Christ, followed by interment at Forest Green Park Cemetery, Morganville section of Marlboro. Memorial donations may be made to the National Jewish Center for Immunology and Respiratory Medicine for Pulmonary Fibrosis Research, 1400 Jackson St., Denver CO 80206.
