EILEEN DONOVAN CONNAIR, 81, of Red Bank died April 13 at home. Born in Bayonne, she lived there until moving to Monmouth County in 1954. She was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Colts Neck, where she was very active on its religious and social committees. She was a graduate of Holy Family Academy, Bayonne. She was predeceased by her husband, Norbert Connair in 1984; a son, Kevin Connair in 1993; and a grandchild, Jasie Connair. She is survived by three daughters, Susan Connair of Monmouth Beach, Joanne Sica of the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Mary Jane Dogherty of Fair Haven; three sons, Daniel Connair of Red Bank, Timothy Connair of Charlotte, N.C., and Sean Connair of Red Bank; three brothers, Raymond Donovan of Short Hills, James Donovan of Bridgewater, and Richard Donovan of Neptune City; three sisters, Joan O’Donnell of Wakefield, Mass., Maureen Donovan of Clearwater, Fla., and Helen Moran of Avon; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Resurrection was offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Colts Neck. Memorial donations may be made to the Social Concerns Committee of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Route 34 and Phalanx Road, Colts Neck 07722.

VICTORIA SEIDE MAZZUCCA, 27, of Long Branch died April 27 at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York. Born in New York City, she lived in Rumson prior to moving to Long Branch two years ago. She was employed in the human resources department at Martha Stewart, New York. She was a communicant of Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, Rumson. She received her bachelor of arts degree in education from Catholic University, Washington, D.C. She enjoyed traveling in Europe, the United States, and the Caribbean. She is survived by her husband, Michael R. Mazzucca of Long Branch; her parents, Harold and Susan McFeely Seide of Rumson; two sisters, Christina and Diane Seide, both of Rumson; her brother, David Seide of Rumson; her father-in-law, Anthony Mazzucca of Middletown; and her mother-in-law, Mary Mazzucca of Fair Haven. Visitation will be May 1 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered May 2 at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, Rumson. Interment will be at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, 1275 York Ave., Attn.: Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, New York, NY 10021.

NELLIE C. WEINGARTNER, 96, of Tinton Falls died April 13 at Blythe House, Tinton Falls. Born in Rio Grande du Sul, Brazil, she lived in Port Orange, Fla., prior to moving to Tinton Falls. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, as well as its Altar Guild and the Episcopal Church Women, all Port Orange. She was also a founding member of and member of the Altar Guild at St. Martin-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church, Grand Island, N.Y. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Carmichael, in 1994; her sister, Gladys Mears; and her brothers, Walter and Arthur Carmichael. She is survived by her daughter, Ann C. Weingartner of Little Silver; her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Carmichael of Kenmore, N.Y.; her brother-in-law, the Rev. John D. Mears of East Aurora, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Buffalo, N.Y. Memorial donations may be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church, 325 Little Silver Point Road, Little Silver, 07739; or Tinton Falls First Aid Squad, 46 Old Mill Road, Tinton Falls, 07724.

MARLENE F. BREEN JARRETT, 65, of Middletown died April 28 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she lived in Hazlet for 18 years before moving to Middletown 10 months ago. She was a salesperson for Kmart, Hazlet, for 10 years, retiring in 1998. She was predeceased by a daughter, Doreen Marino, in 1999. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Walter Lynch of Middletown; her son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Mary Jarrett of the Belford section of Middletown; two sisters, Margaret McCourt of Staten Island, N.Y., and Maureen Heron of Long Island, N.Y.; her brother, Thomas Breen of Staten Island; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and her companion, Peter Cain. A funeral gathering will be held May 1 at 8:45 a.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral liturgy will follow at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Entombment will be at Green Grove Cemetery, Keyport.

EVA SMITH, 75, of Manalapan died April 12 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Newark, she had lived in Marlboro before moving to Manalapan 27 years ago. She was a waitress at Pines Manor, Edison, for 24 years before her retirement in 1986. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church, Englishtown. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and a member of the Senior Citizens Center, both of Long Branch. She was predeceased by her husband, Cary, who died in 1984. She is survived by a son, Cary Jr., with whom she lived; three daughters, Maria Coulson of Jackson, Patricia Viola of Winthrop, Maine, and Florence Gill of Long Branch; two sisters, Rose Scannella of Florida and Helen Reid of New Jersey; and six grandchildren. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Church, followed by interment at Forest Green Park Cemetery, Marlboro.

VIRGINIA L. THOMSON, 74, of Howell, died April 4 in the Center for Hospice Care at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. She was born in Newark and had lived in Boonton, Oceanport and Bradley Beach before moving to Howell in 1997. She was a member and former president of the Oceanport PTA and a member and former president of the Port-au-Peck Ladies Auxiliary. She was an industrial security specialist at Fort Monmouth CECOM for 22 years, retiring in 1988. Surviving are her husband, William Thomson Sr. of Howell; two sons, William Thomson Jr. of West Hollywood, Calif., and Robert Thomson of North Borough, Mass.; two daughters, Deborah Gilligan of Howell, and Janet McConnell of Wall; two sisters, Florence Pallante of East Hanover, and Norma Bizzaro of Roselle Park; and five grandchildren. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Farmingdale. Memorial contributions may be made to the Farmingdale-Howell First Aid Squad, P.O. Box 591, Farmingdale 07727 or to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, P.O. Box 4028, Union 07083.

HAROLD A. GIBLIN JR., 72, of Red Bank died April 22 at St. Clare’s Medical Center, Denville. Born in Red Bank, he was a lifelong resident. He was a lieutenant in the Little Silver Police Department for 30 years, retiring in 1993. While on the force as a special officer, he received valor and meritorious service commendations after involvement in a gun battle. His ranks at the police department also included regular officer, sergeant and lieutenant. He also served as the department’s traffic safety officer. He was honorably discharged as a sergeant from the N.J. National Guard in 1957 after six years of service. He was a 50-year member and served as fire chief and president of the Little Silver Fire Department; a charter member, and served as a captain and president of the Little Silver First Aid Squad; and served five terms as the captain of the Little Silver Fire Police. He was a "Silver Life" member of PBA Local 359, and a life member of the New Jersey Firemen’s Relief Association. He is survived by his wife, Doris Giblin of East Windsor; three sons, Michael Giblin of Centreville, Va., Kelly Giblin of East Windsor, and Shannon Giblin of Red Bank; a daughter, Kathleen Goodman of Long Branch; and nine grandchildren.

MINA ELIZABETH POMPHREY, 74, of Rumson died April 16 at her daughter’s home in Oceanport. Born in Belmar, she was a resident of Rumson the past 58 years. She was a retired director of medical supplies at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, for 18 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Rumson. Her hobbies included gardening and spending time with her family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Edwin L. Pomphrey; her sister, E. Marie Pomphrey; and two brothers, Henry and Marvin Treiber. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Edwin "Ed" L. and Sarah Pomphrey of Rumson; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marie "Bootie" and Allen Gallagher of Rumson, and Sheri E. and Richard Runne of Oceanport; her brother, Russell Treiber of Shark River Hills section of Neptune Township; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Interment was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to the Oceanport Methodist Church, 50 Main St., Oceanport 07757.
