BARBARA C. REUSS SCHEDLBAUER, 84, of Tinton Falls, died Aug. 11 at Blythe House, Tinton Falls. Born in Schenectady, N.Y., she previously lived in Red Bank and Fair Haven, and moved to Tinton Falls two years ago. She was a homemaker. She was a communicant of Church of the Nativity, Fair Haven. Her interests included spending time with her family, reading, exercise, bird watching and gardening. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles M. Schedlbauer, and three sisters, Marie, Betty, and Magdeline. She is survived by her son, Charles L. of Chatham; three daughters, Barbara A. Grimmer of Fair Haven, Melinda S. Johnson of Bayville, and Mary J. Anderson of Leawood, Kan.; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Church of the Nativity, followed by interment at Rosedale-Rosehill Cemetery Association, Linden. Memorial donations may be made to the Trinity Hospice, 111 Union Ave., Long Branch 07740.

SHEPARD L. ALEXANDER, 100, of Rumson died Sept. 12 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, after a short illness. He resided in both Rumson, and New York City. He was employed as a broker for Hamershlag, Kempner, Dodeles & Co. Inc., New York City, since 1930, continuing to serve until age 99. A graduate of Columbia College, New York City, he worked for its board of directors, was class chairman for the Columbia College Fund, and generously funded its Life Income Gifts Program. The 1991 recipient of the college’s John Jay Award for Distinguished Professional Achievement, he also created the Shepard L. Alexander Scholarship Fund. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Patricia Alexander of Rumson; his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Ann-Mari Alexander; his stepson, Paul Gayer; and a step-granddaughter. A memorial service was held at St. Paul’s Chapel of Columbia University, New York City.

KIAT HUAT YEO, 50, of Red Bank died Sept. 21 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He was born in Malaysia, and relocated to the United States to pursue medical studies. He was a pulmonologist at the Medical Health Center, Middletown, since 1995. He was also on staff at Riverview Medical Center; Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune; Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch; and Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. He was a member of both the American Medical Association and the American College of Chest Physicians. He was predeceased by his parents, Poh Tiang Yeo and Tuan Ching Lim. He is survived by his wife, Mei Zhang of Red Bank; his sister; and his niece. Memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross, September 11th Fund, c/o P.O. Box 4148, Middletown 07747.

ROBERT R. TALHAMI, 40, of Shrewsbury perished Sept. 11 in the World Trade Center tragedy. He was an equity derivatives broker for Cantor Fitzgerald on the 104th floor, One World Trade Center, New York City. He was born in Pakistan and moved to the United States when he was age 7. His family resided in Northbrook, Ill., and moved to Caracas, Venezuela in 1978. He graduated high school from Colegio Internacional de Caracas and attended Manhattanville College, Purchase, N.Y. He received his degree in economics from the University of Delaware, Newark. He worked on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange for two years and as an options broker for Tullett & Tokyo Forex in New York, Tokyo and London for 12 years. He and his family relocated from London in April. A wonderful husband and father, he taught his two sons with infinite patience and good humor, imparting on both family and friends how to enjoy life. He will be missed by his wife and two sons, Diana ("DeDe"), Noah and Jake Talhami; his mother, Blanca Talhami of Sarasota, Fla.; his brother and sister-in-law, George and Marybeth, and their children, Trevor, Carly and Griffin Talhami of Chicago, Ill.; his mother-in-law, Carol Dailey of Yarmouthport, Mass.; his sister-in-law, Lynne Dailey of Brookline, Mass.; two brothers-in-law, Mark and his son Andrew Dailey, and Jeffrey Dailey and his family; and several loving aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service was held at St. George’s-by-the-River, Rumson. Memorial donations may be made to the Robert R. Talhami Memorial Trust, c/o the Talhami Family, 1 Sunnybank Drive, Shrewsbury 07702.

C. WALTON "WALT" MOORE, 89, of Little Silver died Sept. 14 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was a lifelong Little Silver resident. He was employed by J.H. Kelly Co., Red Bank, for 33 years, retiring in 1982. An avid gardener, he was employed by Sickles Farm Market, Little Silver, during his teen-age years. He was named grand marshal of the Little Silver 75th Anniversary parade. He was predeceased by two sisters, Harriet Moore and Mildred Moore. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Moore of Little Silver; his son, Larry Moore of Little Silver; his brother-in-law, Warren Minton; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Interment was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to the Little Silver Public Library Renovation Fund, 484 Prospect Ave., Little Silver 07739.

DOLORES J. BARTON, 70, of Fair Haven died Sept. 20 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Northfield, Vt., she lived there, in the Panama Canal zone and in Germany prior to moving to Fair Haven 31 years ago. She worked for CECOM, Fort Monmouth, retiring in 1993. Prior to that, she worked for the Social Security Administration, Perth Amboy. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Northfield. Her affiliations included the Fort Monmouth Officers’ Wives’ Club and the Retired Officers Auxiliary, and she was a 19-year member of the Monmouth Civic Chorus. She is survived by her husband, retired Lt. Col. William E. Barton, Fair Haven; two sons, William E. Barton Jr. of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, and Robert H. Barton of Adelphia; and three grandchildren. A memorial service was held at Red Bank Methodist Church. Interment was at Brig. Gen. W.C. Doyle Veterans. Memorial Cemetery, Arnytown. Memorial donations may be made to the SPCA of Monmouth County, 260 Wall St., Eatontown 07724; or the Monmouth Civic Chorus, P.O. Box 16, Red Bank 07701.

JOHN J. McGAVIN, 60, of Middletown died Sept. 20 at home. Born in Hoboken, he moved to Middletown in 1964. He was a computer technology teacher for Thompson Middle School, Middletown, for 23 years. Prior to that, he taught and was a basketball coach at Bayshore Middle School, Middletown, for 12 years. He was a member of the New Jersey and National Education Associations. He was predeceased by his brother, Patrick McGavin, in 1964. He is survived by his wife of eight years, Carol Henry McGavin of Middletown; two sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick and Tracy McGavin of Highlands, and Scott and Teddy McGavin of Keyport; two daughters and one son-in-law, Kelly and Scott Klemroth of San Diego, Calif., and Megan Becker of Fort Monroe, Va.; his brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Betty McGavin of Denville; his sister and brother-in-law, Maureen and Richard Vensel of Scottsdale, Ariz.; one granddaughter; and his former wife, Sandra Connor McGavin of Rumson. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, East Keansburg section of Middletown. Burial was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross, 1540 W. Park Ave., Tinton Falls 07724.

ROBERT E. MURPHY SR., 88, of the Belford section of Middletown died Aug. 14 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in the Leonardo section of Middletown, he was a lifelong Belford resident. He operated Murphy Towing, Belford. Prior to that, he operated several area gas stations and owned and operated the Flying A gas station. He was employed at Fort Monmouth for 14 years. He served with the U.S. Navy Seabees in the Pacific Theater during World War II. His memberships included the Masonic Lodge No. 172, Middletown Kiwanis Club, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2179, Port Monmouth section of Middletown. He served as past commander of the Disabled American Veterans and past president of the Middletown Chamber of Commerce, for which he was honored and commended by the N.J. Senate and General Assembly at his retirement dinner. He also served as a special officer, supervisor of the church crossing guards, constable and municipal court officer. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Pauline Clay Murphy of Belford; his son and daughter-in-law, Robert E. and Eileen Murphy Jr. of Middletown; his daughter, Paulette Raub of Tinton Falls; his brother, Raymond Murphy of Hazlet; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

KENNETH C. SMITH, 92, of Keansburg died Aug. 18 in Holmdel. Born in Newark, he lived in Whiting and East Orange before moving to Middletown 24 years ago. He was an electrician for IBEW Local 52, Newark, for 35 years, retiring in 1974. He was a member of the Old Guard of both Red Bank and Whiting, as well as the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Vince Lombardi Council, Middletown. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Mary D. Smith of Keansburg; his son, Kenneth E. Smith of Jacksonville, Fla.; his daughter, Kathy Logan of Holmdel; and two grandsons. Entombment was at Holmdel Cemetery.

JOSEPH J. "JOE" McFADDEN, 91, of Red Bank died July 10 at home. Born in Jersey City, he resided in Red Bank since 1955. He was employed by Bond Buyer, N.Y., and retired in 1981. Prior to that, he was acting postmaster in Red Bank for four years, and worked for M.W. Kellogg Co., Jersey City, for 23 years. He was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. He was a member and past president of the Red Bank Democratic Club, as well as the Kiwanis Club of Red Bank. His hobbies included woodworking and gardening. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Frances R. Burns McFadden of Red Bank; his son and daughter-in-law, Brian J. and Molly McFadden of Midland, Mich.; four daughters and one son-in-law, Ellen McFadden of Monrovia, Calif., Regina McFadden of Red Bank, and Sheila Mulligan of Sierra Madre, Calif., and Mary and Marcelo McFadden-Rossetto of Toluca Lake, Calif.; six grandchildren; four great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Memorial donations may be made to Meridian Hospice, Bldg. 4, Second Floor, 615 Hope Road, Eatontown, N.J. 07724.
