OCALA, Fla. - Jean Portman Kobrin, 92, died Saturday (Jan. 28, 2000) in the Harborside Nursing Home in Ocala.Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Mathews Funeral Home, 104 W. Main St., Ripley.

Miles H. Berthold
ASHVILLE - Miles H. Berthold, 89, of 4850 College St., died at 12:30 a.m. Sunday (Jan. 30, 2000) in his home. An area resident since coming from Pittsburgh, Pa., 53 years ago, he was born Jan. 30, 1911, in Braddock, Pa., the son of Daniel J. and Anna Adessa Esler Berthold.
He was a retired employee of Chautauqua Hardware and previously was employed by the former Green Brothers Lumber.
He was a member of Ashville United Methodist Church and was past master of Fort Pitt Masonic Lodge 635 in Pittsburgh.He enjoyed building model ships.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy F. Nevins Berthold whom he married July 22, 1939; a daughter, Susanne Lawrence of Richfield Springs, N.Y.; a son, Bruce Berthold of Gilbert, Ariz.; seven grandchildren: Angela Eakan and Bruce M. Berthold Jr., both of Florida; Sean Cox of Richfield Springs, Sally Zahniser of Utica, N.Y., Nicole Smith, Christina and Michael Berthold, all of Gilbert; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers: Crawford, Esler, Gomer and Earl Berthold.The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. LeRoy Tracey, pastor of Ashville United Methodist Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Ashville.Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.Memorials may be made to Hospice of Chautauqua County or the Ashville United Methodist Church.

Beverly J. Hebner-Blood
OTTO - Beverly J. Hebner-Blood, 58, of Cattaraugus-Otto Road, died Sunday (Nov. 7, 1999) in her home.
She was born Oct. 7, 1941, in Gowanda, the daughter of Gladys Hill Hebner of Cattaraugus and the late Emmett J. Hebner.
She was employed as a bookkeeper for Rainbow Lake Resort and was a member of the Moose Club in Gowanda.
Surviving besides her mother are two daughters: Kasey Stockman and Shannon L. Harvey, both of Cattaraugus; six grandchildren: Brianna and Ashlee Harvey, Matthew and Danni Jo Elliott, Eric and Taylor Stockman; and a brother, Ronald Hebner of Cattaraugus. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Mentley Funeral Home, 411 Rock City St., Little Valley. The Rev. William Kay will officiate.
Burial will be in Liberty Park Cemetery, Cattaraugus. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Otto Fire Department or Comstock Hospice.

Beatrice Dann
WARREN - Beatrice M. Dann, 81, of 118 N. Irvine St., died Sunday (Nov. 7, 1999) in her home. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Mark S. Patterson Funeral Home.

M. Gerald Quinn Jr.
M. Gerald Quinn Jr., 56, of 228 Route 394, Kennedy, died Monday (Nov. 8, 1999) in WCA Hospital. He had been employed by Loranger Manufacturing Corp. in Warren. Arrangements will be announced by the Lind Funeral Home.

Clarence H. Young
WATERTOWN, N.Y. - Clarence H. Young, 99, of 24701 Route 74, formerly of 12121 W. Main St., Randolph, died Monday (Nov. 8, 1999) in Samaritan Keep Nursing Home.
He was the widower of Florence B. Brace Young, who died Feb. 14, 1995. Arrangements will be announced by the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph.

Genevieve Brader
WARREN - Genevieve M. Brader, 77, of 203 West St., died at 1:12 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 6, 1999) in Saint Vincent Health Center, Erie. A lifelong Warren area resident, she was born Nov. 17, 1921, in Warren, the daughter of Frank and Emily Lagerblad.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Surviving are a son, Dennis W. Brader of Vero Beach, Fla.; two daughters: Cindy Slater and Barb Gross of Warren; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Stanley Danielson of Warren and Chester Anderson of New Port Richey, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Brader, whom she married May 1, 1942, in Warren, ; two brothers: Kenneth Anderson and Floyd Danielson; and a sister, Beatrice Whiteshot. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today in St. Paul Lutheran Church. The Rev. Gary Risher, pastor, will officiate.
Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service today in the church. Memorials may be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Memorial Fund. Arrangements are by the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home.

John M. Hausherr
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - John M. Hausherr, 62, of Hilton Head Island and Maple Springs, N.Y., died Sunday (Nov. 7, 1999) in the Hilton Head Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 10, 1937, in Newark, N.J., the son of the late John V. and Barbara Milliken Hausherr. He a veteran of the U.S. Army and a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University of Rutherford, N.J.
He was employed by AT&T for 30 years, active with the Pioneers and past president of Western Electric/Bell Telephone Lab Council.
He was a member of the American Legion, War Vets and Ingjald Lodge 65 Independent Order of Vikings all of Jamestown and the Hilton Head Island Ski Club.
Surviving are his wife, Gayle Willits Hausherr; a son, Jim Hausherr of Santa Monica, Calif; two daughters: Barbara Young of Wilmington, N.C., and Kathryn Hausherr of Hilton Head Island; a granddaughter, Kristin Elizabeth Young; and a sister, Janet Schaumberg of Greenville, R.I. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, 1999, in the chapel of the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Maple Springs Volunteer Fire Department, Maple Springs, N.Y., 14756. Arrangements are by The Island Funeral Home, 4 Cardinal Road, Hilton Head Island, S.C., 29926.

Betty Pflugradt Visker
RANDOLPH - Betty Pflugradt Visker, 71, of Avon Park, Fla. and Fredricka, Iowa, formerly of Randolph, died Nov. 5, 1999, in Vienna, Ga.
She was born May 4, 1928, in Randolph, the daughter of Fred and Louise Ross Pflugradt.
She was a 1946 graduate of Randolph Central School and a 1950 graduate of Gowanda State Hospital Nursing School.
Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Richard Visker whom she married in 1947; a daughter, Virginia Visker of Iowa City, Iowa; a son, Scott R. Visker of Iowa City and a granddaughter, Jaime Visker of Iowa City. There will be no funeral service. Visitation will not be observed. Memorials may be made to charity of ones choice. Arrangements are by the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph.

Evelyn P. Sternburg
PAWLEY’S ISLAND, S.C. - Evelyn P. Sternburg of 38 Lakes At Litchfield, formerly of 255 W. Summit Ave., Lakewood, died on Monday (Jan. 31, 2000) in her home.
She was born in Jamestown, the daughter of John and Alma Brandina Peterson.
She was the wife of Bertrand W. "Bert" Sternburg, whom she married Feb. 24, 1943.She earned her bachelor’s at State College of Fredonia and her master’s degree at Syracuse University in 1965.
She was a fifth grade teacher at Lakewood Elementary School and retired in 1977 from Southwestern Middle School where she taught sixth grade for 17 years.
She was a 1929 confirmand of Zion Covenant Church, a member of Southwestern Central School Retired Teachers Association and a member of the Lakewood Women’s Club.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters: Andrea S. McLean of Webster, N.Y., and Terry S. Senior of Murrell’s Inlet, S.C.; two grandchildren: Courtney McLean of Buffalo and Arthur McLean III of Durham, N.C.
She was preceded in death by three brothers: Arthur, Everett and Melvin Peterson.A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home, 805 W. Third St., Jamestown. The Rev. James Swan will officiate.
Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.Memorials may be made to the Jason’s House, c/o Surfside United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 14386, Surfside Beach, N.C., 29587.

Margaret L. Meyer
GOWANDA - Margaret L. Meyer, 80, of 32 Orchard Place, died Saturday (Jan. 29, 2000) in Buffalo General Hospital.
She was born Jan. 25, 1920, in the town of Otto, the daughter of Walter and Lydia Scheulss Meyer.
She was employed by the former Empire Insurance of Jamestown and retired from the Gowanda Psychiatric Center after 20 years as a medical records clerk.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Otto.
Surviving are many cousins.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m Thursday in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Otto. The Rev. Robert Azinger will officiate. Interment will be in Otto Lutheran Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Mentley Funeral Home, 105 E. Main St., Gowanda.
Memorials may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church or a charity of choice.
