POLLARO, RALPH J.

Ralph J. Pollaro passed away peacefully on August 9, 2010.

QUARLES, BARBARA LOUISE

Barbara Louise Quarles passed from death into eternal life on Tuesday, July 13th, 2010 at the Hospice House of Spokane, Washington. Barbara was born on March 8th, 1930, to Isaac Jeremiah Webb and Alberta Webb in New Rochelle, New York. Barbara Louise Quarles is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years, George R. Quarles and her two daughters, Naima Quarles-Burnley (Larry) and Nia Caron Quarles. She has one living grandson, Thulani Rashad Burnley and another who awaits her in glory, Rashad Lateef Burnley. She also leaves behind a Godson, who was the son she never had, John Mark Ahinful, a native of Ghana, West Africa. Barbara L. Quarles' extended family who remain are her beloved cousin, Andrew Green, his daughter Andrea T. Scarborough, her children, Aaron and Kimberly Scarborough and their children. A Memorial Service will be held on August 13, 2010 at St. Catherine AME Zion Church, 19 Lincoln Avenue, New Rochelle, NY; family visitation at 5 P.M. and the service at 6 P.M.

ROMANI-MANSFIELD, FRANCES

Frances Romani Mansfield, 86, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 11, 2010, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Mansfield was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, William Mansfield, Jr. She was a native of Norristown, PA, but she lived in Mamaroneck for many years and graduated from F. E. Bellows High in 1942. She has resided in Hampton, VA since 1965. She was a World War II veteran who proudly joined the WAVES (USNR) in 1944 and maintained membership in WAVES National. As a civil service retiree of 30 years, Mrs. Mansfield loved to talk about her days in uniform and reminisce about the past. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and a member of the American Legion, Post 31 of Hampton. She is survived by 6 children, 14 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. Other survivors include her brother Mark Romani of Mamaroneck, NY; and her sister Joanne Ryan of Palm Desert, CA. Funeral services by R. Hayden Smith Funeral home will be held in Hampton, VA.

SERAFIN, IRENE MARY

Irene Mary Serafin, a retired employee of the Yonkers Board of Education, passed away August 11, 2010 in Albany, NY at age 91. Born to Ignatius and Rose Kapusta in the Bronx. Irene resided in Yonkers for more than 60 years. She worked for the Yonkers Public Schools from 1968 until her retirement in 1988. Irene married the love of her life, Stanley in St Casimir's Church in 1946. Stanley predeceased her in 1998. Irene took great joy in caring for her grandchildren and great grandchild, also maintaining an active involvement as a parishioner at St. Denis and Christ the King Churches. Irene is survived by two sons Stanley Jr. and Robert (Tricia), two daughters Rosemary Seestadt and Jane Strobel (Dan), daughter-in -law Connie Serafin, eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild. A son John predeceased her in 2005. TONI, ROSE J.

Rose J. Toni a long time resident of Pelham died August 11, 2010 at age 92. She is survived by her step-son, Robert Toni, four grandchildren, Barbara (Roland) Ciofrone, Mary Ellen (Charlie) Pepi, Steven (Cindy) Toni and Karen (Mark) Lacerra, five great grandchildren and her sister, Esther Porco. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Guido, daughter-in-law, Eleanor Toni, brothers, Ralph, Anthony and Frank Masiello, her sister, Richetta Montera and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held at the Pelham Funeral Home on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral Mass will be at St. Catharine's Church on Saturday at 10 AM. Interment Beechwoods Cemetery. TRIZINSKY, GEORGE

April 23, 1915 - August 10, 2010. At 95 years of age and a life-long Ossining, NY resident, George P. Trizinsky died on August 10, 2010 at Cedar Manor Nursing Home, Ossining. He is survived by his children, Barbara, her husband Paul, grandchildren Molly and Nicholas of San Jose, CA. and son, Robert of Woodstock, VT., as well as many nieces and nephews. George is the last of 10 children raised by Mary and John Trizinsky. He is predeceased by his parents, brothers and sisters and his wife, Mary Gatz Trizinsky. He was born in Ossining Hospital and was raised in Ossining where he enjoyed life along the Hudson River with his twin brother Ray and older brother Joe. He graduated with honors from Ossining High School and received a degree in Latin from Fordham University. He was a life-long parishioner of St. Augustine's Church, Ossining. Based in Lake Pontchartrain, Louisiana, he was a proud veteran of WWII. He worked for many years in Ossining and retired from Ballassone Bros. Home Heating in 1975. We are all grateful for sharing a week this past April with Dad and brother Ray's girls, Melinda and Denise, also from California. We pray he finds peace in the arms of his family. Joyce Winterbourne died on August 2, 2010 after a brief illness. She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Joanne and Peter Winterbourne, Jeanne and Paul Meore, Christine and Lance Winter, and seven grandchildren. A Service will be held Saturday, August 14th at 9:45am in St. Paul's Church, Congers, NY.

ALLEN SR., WILLIAM

William Allen, Sr., born December 13, 1944 in Nyack, New York, completed his earthly journey on July 16, 2010 at Cornell Weill Hospital in Manhattan, New York after a brief and courageous battle with leukemia. William was educated in the Nyack public Schools and retired from Rockland Psychiatric Center in Orangeburg, New York where he was employed for 33 years. Those left to cherish his fond memories are his wife of 31 years: Sabrina H. Allen; a loving daughter: Myra Shirelle Allen of Haverstraw, NY; two devoted sons: William Allen, Jr. of Nyack, NY, and Jason Allen of the home: his one and only granddaughter; Amaya Toussaint; his mother-in-law: Alberta Clarke of Spring Valley, NY; two sisters: Virginia (Frank) Jones of Nyack, NY, and Rose (Elder James) Irvin of Nanuet NY; one brother: Lee (Jean) Allen of Haverstraw, NY; six brothers-in-law and six sisters-in law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday at the Hannemann Funeral Home, Inc. in Nyack from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A homegoing service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 10 AM.
