Shirley Kuhne

Shirley E. Kuhne, 65, of Gloversville, died Friday at Nathan Littauer Hospital.
She was born in Amsterdam and graduated from Johnstown High School.
She was employed at the former People's Bank, State Bank and Norstar Bank, and retired in 1990 from Fleet Bank. After retiring, she worked at the former Teri's Juniorama in Johnstown. At the time of her death, she was employed by Ed's True Value.
Mrs. Kuhne was a member of St. Patrick's Church of Johnstown and its Rosary Society.
She was past president of the Johnstown Business and Professional Women, which elected her as woman of the year. She was also a bowler with several area leagues.
She married Fred Kuhne June 30, 1956.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a sister, Betty Green of Johnstown; and a brother, Ronald Shults of Arlington, Texas.
A memorial mass will be scheduled at St. Patrick's Church at a time to be announced. Burial is in Fern Dale Cemetery, Johnstown.
There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
Arrangements are by the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, 215 E. Main St., Johnstown.

Dorothy McHale
May 7, 2000
Dorothy L. McHale, 67, of Elm Street, Schenectady, died at home Sunday after a short illness.
She was born in Schenectady and attended city schools and the former Nott Terrace High School. She was a lifelong area resident.
She retired from the housekeeping department of the Heritage Home for Women and also worked in the food services division of Northeast Parent & Child Society and the former Carl Co.
She married Martin M. McHale Sr. May 7, 1966
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Richard J. LaBelle of Washington, D.C., and Martin M. McHale Jr. of Schenectady; two daughters, Deborah Parker of Galway and Brenda Lee Wheeler of Schenectady; two sisters, DeAnna C. Young of Pattersonville and Barbara Mattice of Detroit; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 10 a.m. Wednesday at Light's Funeral Home, 1428 State St.
Burial is in Park View Cemetery.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union St., Schenectady 12308.

Richard Tyler

Richard E. Tyler, 88, of Division Street, Amsterdam, died Saturday evening at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam.
He was born March 12, 1912, in Amsterdam, the son of Emory and Cora Besaw Tyler. He attended local schools and was a lifelong area resident.
During World War II he served with the United States Army Air Corps.
He was employed by Mohasco Industries in Amsterdam for more than 30 years, then worked for the Thruway Authority, retiring in 1977.
He was a member of Welcome Lodge 829 Free and Accepted Masons and a member of the Scottish Rite of the Valley of Schenectady.
Mr. Tyler was a communicant of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Amsterdam.
He married Hazel Mahl June 18, 1938.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral is 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam.
Burial is in Fairview Cemetery, Amsterdam.
Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where the Faithful Followers will meet at 7 p.m. and the Masons will meet at 7:15 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Church.

Madeline Porto
May 11, 2000
Madeline Porto, 83, of Schenectady, formerly of Duanesburg, died Thursday at the Glendale Home in Glenville after a long illness.
She was born Dec. 10, 1916, in Amsterdam, the daughter of Anthony and Mary Raiano Iannotti. She was educated locally.
She was employed by General Electric Co. in Schenectady for 10 years before retiring in 1955. She moved to Duanesburg 20 years ago.
Mrs. Porto was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam and Schenectady.
She married Emanuel M. Porto Feb. 4, 1941.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Peter E. Porto of Glenville; three brothers, Anthony Iannotti of Schenectady, and Andrew Iannotti and John Iannotti, both of Amsterdam; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, with the Rev. Pascal Iannotti officiating.
Interment is in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
A calling hour will precede the service at 10 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Glendale Home.

Lanita Germain
May 9, 2000
Lanita M. Germain, 101, of the Ferncliff Nursing Home, Rhinebeck, Dutchess County, formerly of Washington and Rensselaer counties, died Tuesday at the residence.
She was born in Saratoga Springs. For many years she lived in Fort Miller. She also lived in Rensselaer County for a number of years before moving to Washington County, then to Connecticut for 10 years. She had lived in Rhinebeck since 1987.
Mrs. Germain was a member of the Cambridge Historical Society and was a former member of the local and state granges in Washington County.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd Germain, in 1967.
Survivors include two sons, Robert L. Germain of Greenwich and Donald H. Germain of Winchester, Va.; a daughter, Pauline Mackas of Weathersfield, Conn.; a sister, Laura Evangelista of Gloversville; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday at the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady.
A graveside service will follow at 1 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Miller.
There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Carmelite Sisters in care of Ferncliff Nursing Home, River Road, Rhinebeck 12572.

William McQuade
May 12, 2000
William G. McQuade, 87, of Millers Corners Road, Amsterdam, died Friday at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam.
He was born Oct. 27, 1912, in Amsterdam, the son of John and Liticia Freeman McQuade. He was a lifelong area resident.
He was employed by Mohasco Industries for 37 years, retiring in 1975.
He married Stacia O. Alukonis Sept. 15, 1934.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons, William McQuade of Fort Wayne, Ind., Robert McQuade of Little Rock, Ark., and Thomas McQuade of Galway; three daughters, Elizabeth Smith of Phoenix, Ariz., Theresa Kilough of Glendale, Ariz, and Kathleen Lombke of Amsterdam; 12 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be private at the convenience of the family at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam.
Cremation will be at Vale Crematorium, Schenectady.
There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Casimir's Memorial Fund, 260 E. Main St., Amsterdam.

William J. Tarnowski, 88, formerly of Roosevelt Road, Amsterdam, died Thursday Evening at the Park Hill Adult Home, Amsterdam.
Arrangements by the Amsterdam Funeral Chapel, 13 Belmont Place, Amsterdam, are incomplete and will be announced.

Anna M. Hladik Bubniak, 90, of Highland Avenue, Fort Johnson, died Thursday evening at St. Mary's Hospital after a brief illness.
Arrangements by the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, are incomplete and will be announced.

James Reddick

A graveside service for James W. Reddick, who died Feb. 21 will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Greenhill Cemetery in Amsterdam.
Arrangements are by the Riley Mortuary Inc., 110 Division St., Amsterdam.

Thomas Martin
May 10, 2000
Thomas M. Martin, 57, of Lafayette Street, New York City, formerly of Amsterdam, died Wednesday at Staten Island University Hospital after a long illness.
He was born Feb. 24, 1943, in Amsterdam, the son of Stanley and Veronica Kallfelz Martin. He was educated in Amsterdam and was a graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo. He received a master's degree in fine arts from Syracuse University.
Mr. Martin was a professor at the New York Institute of Technology's Fine Arts Department. A professional artist, his work was exhibited at many New York galleries, including the collection of the Gugenheim Museum, the Chase Manhattan Collection and many private collections.
He was listed in Who's Who in the East and Who's Who in American Art. He was also the subject of a special report for CBS News, "Artist with Multiple Sclerosis: Project Rembrandt."
Mr. Martin was s communicant of St. Joseph's Church in New York City.
He married Susan Krause July 29, 1972.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Jerome K. Martin of New York City; a daughter, Josephine K. Martin of New York City; a brother, Stanley Martin of Hammondsport; a sister, Marlene Martin of New Haven, Conn.; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Monday at the Riley Mortuary Inc., 110 Division St., Amsterdam, followed at 11:30 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of St. John the Baptist, 44 VanDerveer St., Amsterdam.
Burial is in St. John's Cemetery.
Calling hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.
A memorial service is scheduled at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 20, at the NYU Holy Trinity Chapel, Washington Square South at Thompson Street, New York City.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 733 Third Ave., 6th Floor, New York 10017.

Kathleen Knorowski

Kathleen Rose Knorowski, 57, of Stony Brook Drive, Rexford, a summer resident of Schroon Lake, died Thursday at home after a long illness.
She was born in Cobleskill and was a graduate of Mariaville High School.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Knorowski was a past member of the Vischer Ferry Fire Department.
She was a member of St. George's Episcopal Church in Clifton Park.
She married Victor J. Knorowski Sept. 22, 1990.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Mark Joseph Buchalski and Robert John Buchalski Sr., both of Schenectady; a daughter, Marcia Ann David of Gloversville; two step-daughters, Lisa A. Querrey of Raleigh, N.C., and Laura C. Knorowski of Ballston Spa; three sisters, Bridget A. Guarino of Greenville, S.C., Christine A. Battaglino of Schenectady, and Phyllis M. Gras of Amsterdam; seven grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.
The funeral is 9:15 a.m. Monday at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Route 9, Clifton Park, followed at 10 a.m. at St. George's Episcopal Church.
Burial is in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union St., Schenectady 12308.
