At Rest Jul. 16, 2010 and resided in Amsterdam, NY.

Mary C. Wells

Mary C. Wells, 82, of Locust Avenue, passed away peacefully Friday morning at her home with family by her side.
Born in Amsterdam on December 28, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Alexander Carnevale and Mary Cristina DiChiro Carnevale Rigatti. Educated locally, she lived here her entire life. After raising her family, Mary was employed as a secretary for the former Bishop Scully High School for a number of years. A dedicated staff member, she became friends through her years at Scully with many students and their families. These friendships endured and she kept in touch with them until the end of her life. Mary's family was most important to her. She attended their many sporting events and lovingly cared for her mother for many years.
She was a parishioner of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church.
On Feb. 19, 1950, she was united in marriage to Casper "Punky" Wells. He predeceased her on May 25, 1998.
She was also predeceased by sisters, Victoria Jevitt and Rose Stangle, and her daughter in law Nancy Wells.
She leaves her children, Michael K. Wells of Amsterdam, Linda J. Wells of Rotterdam Jct., Rosemary Turton of Colonie, Casper C. (Daiva) Wells of Schenectady, and Jeffrey J. Wells of Amsterdam;
Grandchildren, Erika L. Volo, Michael, Darren, Casper III, Lauren, Paige, Livija and Andre Wells; great grandchildren, Dillan and Miles Volo; nieces, nephews and friends also survive.

A Funeral Mass will be con-celebrated Tuesday at 9:15 am at St. Mary's Church, East Main Street. Fr. John Medwid and Fr. Joseph Grasso, celebrants. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Monday from 4-7 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. Interment is in the family plot in St. Michael's Cemetery. Contributions may be made in her name to St. Mary's Institute or the Community Hospice of Amsterdam both in care of the funeral home office.

Gertrude W. O'Neil
Born in Troy, NY on Feb. 22, 1917
At Rest Jul. 15, 2010 and resided in Hagaman, NY.

Mrs. Gertrude W. O'Neil, 93, of Dania Drive, Hagaman, NY died peacefully Thursday, July 15, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam following a brief illness.

The former Gertrude W. Hasslinger was born in Troy, NY on February 22, 1917 the daughter of the late Anthony and Caroline Pfeil Hasslinger. She was a graduate of Troy High School and went on to work for New York State in the Department of Tax and Finance until her retirement in 1979.

On April 15, 1943 she was united in marriage to Francis O'Neil. That union lasted 47 years until his passing on July 1, 1990. She was also predeceased by her siblings Anna Bowler, Frank Hasslinger, Edward Hasslinger, John Hasslinger, William Hasslinger and Marie Piche.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Margaret "Peggy" Leahy of Hagaman, NY; two wonderful grandchildren, Caitlin Walter and Kyleen Leahy; two great grandchildren; her sisters, Edna Sestito of Syracuse, NY and Helena Hasslinger of Troy, NY; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, July 19, 2010 at 9:30a.m. at St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church, Hagaman, NY with the Rev. Pascal Iannotti as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Troy, NY. There is no calling hours at Mrs. O'Neil's request. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to St. Stephen's Church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010.

Herman William Beddig
Born in Mineola Long Island, New York on Dec. 28, 1927
At Rest Jul. 20, 2010 and resided in Fultonville, NY.

Herman William Beddig, Jr. 82, of Argersinger Road, Fultonville passed away unexpectedly Tuesday evening at the River Ridge Living Center, LLC in Amsterdam.

Born December 28, 1927 in Mineola Long Island NY, he was the son of Herman and Marie Frey Beddig, Sr. Herman moved to this area in 1942 and was a US Army Veteran from 1946-1947 where he was stationed in Korea during the occupation duty.

Herman owned and operated a dairy farm in the Town of Glen most of his life retiring in 2005. He was a member of the Glen Grange.

He liked small motor boating, the outdoors, hunting, reading and bowling at Imperial Lanes in Amsterdam and Perry Lanes in Johnstown years ago.

On September 8, 1963, he married the former Lucille Loretta Regina Lewandowski who passed away March 12, 2008.

Survivors include two daughters Darlene Beddig of Fultonville and Melissa Furman and her husband Dale of Fultonville. A son William Beddig and his wife Audra of Fultonville. Five grandchildren Richard J. Furman, William P. Furman, Hailey Q. Beddig, Chloee M. Beddig and McKenna S. Beddig all of Fultonville and several aunts, uncle, nieces cousins.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 12noon at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville with the Rev. R. W. Williams officiating. Burial will take place in Maple Avenue Cemetery in Fultonville. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4 to 7pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Town of Glen Fire Dept. P.O. Box 586, Fultonville, NY 12072.

Norina R. Jones
Born in Canajoharie, NY on Jul. 28, 1928

Mrs. Norina R. Jones, 81, of Smith Street, Canajoharie, NY was welcomed into Heaven by the angels of the Lord on Wednesday, July 15, 2010 at home following a long illness. Born on July 28, 1928 on Mohawk Street in Canajoharie, she was the youngest of 13 children to Angelo and Vittoria Perolli Yacobucci.

A lifelong village resident, Norina was a 1948 graduate of Canajoharie High School. She was an accomplished artist and mother who was known for her cooking, especially her homemade spaghetti. She was a member of the former St. Peter's & Paul's Roman Catholic Church and its Rosary Society. She enjoyed being a Cub Scout Leader for pack #81 for many years and just being a Mom. She will be sadly missed.

Her family includes her husband of 60 years, Cecil C. Jones, Jr. ; Her daughters, Vittoria Catone and her husband Mark of South Glens Falls, NY, and Cece Ottomanelli and her husband Frank of Rotterdam, NY; two sons, Jeffery Jones and his wife Tammy of Fort Plain, NY and C.J. Jones of Canajoharie, NY; seven beloved grandchildren, Jeffery Jones, Sarah Jones, Cara Catone, Jessica Catone, Mikali Catone, Lucia Ottomanelli and Onofrio Ottomanelli; one cherished great grandson, Dylan Studnicky; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, July 19, 2010 at 2 o'clock at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, 115 Reid Street, Fort Plain, NY with the Rev. James E. Clark as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Peter's & Paul's Cemetery, Canajoharie, NY. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Sunday, July 18, 2010 from 2 until 5p.m. at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home; where a Legacy Candle Ceremony will be celebrated at 4:45p.m. to honor Norina's life.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to St. Peter's & Paul's Cemetery Fund in care of the funeral home office.

Eugene A. Davis
Born in New York City on Sep. 2, 1929

Mr. Eugene A. "Gene" Davis, 80, formerly of Flat Creek, NY died peacefully Wednesday, July 14, 2010 in Savannah, GA. Born in New York City on September 2, 1929 he was the son of the late Roy and Helen Pilch Davis.

Gene served proudly with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict for five years. It was during that time that he met the love of his life, the former Vitta Damico. Together for 57 years, they were married on October 18, 1952 and were inseparable until her passing on December 29, 2009. He was also predeceased by his sisters Louise Jennings and Josephine Gerry.

Employed for 32 years, Gene worked as a fork life operator for Beech- Nut. He was also a member of the VFW Post 3275 in Fort Plain, NY, the Canajoharie Moose Lodge and was a communicant of the former St. Peter's & Paul's Roman Catholic Church. Since January Gene has resided in Richmond Hill, GA truly enjoying retirement and being near his only grandson. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his daughter, Helen Durkin of Olympia, WA; his grandson, Nicholas Durkin and his wife Trisha of Richmond Hill, GA; his siblings Victor Davis, Dorothy Mathas and Mildred Knowls; a sister in law, Marion Vianese of Amsterdam, NY; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, July 19, 2010 at 10 o'clock at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, 115 Reid Street, Fort Plain, NY with the Rev. James E. Clark as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Peter's & Paul's Cemetery where Gene will once again join Vitta for eternity. There is no calling hours at Gene's request. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317.
