Helen E. Miller

Mrs. Helen E. Miller, 71, of Johnstown, died Saturday (February 5, 2000) at Wells Nursing Home, Johnstown after a long illness. She was born on Oct. 3, 1928 in Ephratah, the daughter of Benjamin E. and Myrtle Spoar Anderson. Mrs. Miller attended Rome School for the Hearing Impaired. She was a home glove maker and owned a farm in the Ephratah area until 1966, when she retired. Mrs. Miller was a member of Perth Bible Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert S. Miller, who died Oct. 26, 1993. Survivors include four sons, Leonard Miller of Gloversville, Roy Miller of Lee, Fla., Kevin Miller of Madison, Fla. and Brian Miller of Johnstown; three daughters, Judy Wendt of Crossville, Ind., Freda Brothers of Dolgeville and Anna Bentley of Johnstown; three sisters, Lila Mosher of Little Falls, Alberta Foley of Herkimer and Vivian Hill of Ephratah; two brothers, Richard Anderson of Valois, Schuyer County, and Gerald Anderson of Little Falls; 21 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by one son, Robert H. Miller, who died Jan. 13, 1967. Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, 1 N. Melcher St., Johnstown. A service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Robert Calhoun, pastor of Perth Bible Church, will officiate. Spring burial will be in Ephratah Cemetery.

John W. Miller

Mr. John W. Miller, 49, of Gloversville, died Wednesday (February 9, 2000) at Nathan Littauer Hospital after being stricken nine days earlier. He was born on May 30, 1950 in Binghamton, Broome County, and resided in the Gloversville area for 20 years. He was formerly employed at Hawkins Fabrics and for 14 years was supervisor at Somerset Industries, where he worked at the time of his death. Survivors include his wife, the former Janice M. Macrina, whom he married on April 16, 1983; two sons, Jeremy J. Miller of South Carolina and James D. Beach of Mayfield; one daughter, Mindy S. Beach of Gloversville; his mother, Gertrude Miller of Norwich, Chenango County; 16 brothers and sisters; eight grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday at Gloversville Wesleyan Church, 68 Grand St. The Rev. Patrick D. Veltri, pastor, will officiate. Cremation will take place at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. Arrangements are by Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, Gloversville.

Louis J. Morini

Mr. Louis J. Morini, 82, of Amsterdam, died Saturday (February 19, 2000) at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, after a short illness. Born in Amsterdam, Mr. Morini was a graduate of St. Mary's Institute, Amsterdam, and Albany Business College. He was employed by several area freight transportation companies, including Amsterdam Dispatch and Volmers. He later was a sales representative for 25 years with Red Star Express Co., Albany, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the Amsterdam Fish and Game Club, and Knights of Columbus Council 209. Mr. Morini was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, Amsterdam, and served on its Parish Council. He was an eucharistic minister, a lector, an acolyte, and a member of the St. Anthony and Holy Name societies of the church. He also was a member of the Mount Carmel Bocci League. Survivors include his wife, the former Lena Del Santo, whom he married on July 6, 1941; two daughters, Faith Stark and Grace Perfetti of Amsterdam; two brothers, Dr. Alfred J. Morini Sr. and Salvatore Morini of Amsterdam; one sister, Rena Cotugno of Amsterdam; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at DeStefano Funeral Home, Route 5S, Amsterdam. A service will be conducted at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. At 9:15 a.m., a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Burial will take place in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Amsterdam.

Robert L. Moses

Mr. Robert L. Moses, 56, of Schenectady, the brother of a Mayfield resident, died Wednesday (February 23, 2000) at home. He was born in Troy. Mr. Moses was a 1962 graduate of the former Linton High School, Schenectady, and resided in that city most of his life. He was employed at the former Wallace Co. until it closed. He worked for 21 years as a baker for the New York State Office of General Services, retiring in 1995. Mr. Moses was a communicant of Church of St. John the Baptist, Schenectady. Survivors include four sisters, Joyce Canton of Mayfield, Anne Larrabee of Scotia, Christine Rogowicz of Ballston Lake and Dr. Johanna Moses of Norwich, Chenango County. Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. today at Kazyaka Funeral Home, 819 Eastern Ave., Schenectady. A service will be conducted at 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. At 9:30 a.m., a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Church of St. John the Baptist, 427 Franklin St., Schenectady. Burial will take place in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.

Mabel Mullins

Mrs. Mabel Mullins, 78, formerly of Gloversville, died today (February 2, 2000) at Nathan Littauer Nursing Home. She was born on March 8, 1921 in Syracuse, where she attended schools. Mrs. Mullins later moved to the Gloversville area. She was employed for several years at the former Decca Records, Gloversville, and later worked for 19 years as a house attendant at Tryon Correctional Facility, Johnstown. She retired in 1986. Mrs. Mullins was a member of St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Gloversville, and the American Association of Retired Persons. On Feb. 26, 1955, she married John Mullins, who died on March 20, 1988. Survivors include three sons, Thomas Mullins of Johnstown, John Mullins of Rochester and Richard Mullins of Gloversville; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Hollenbeck Funeral Home, 4 Second Ave., Gloversville. A service will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. Donald Czelusniak, pastor, will officiate. Spring burial will take place in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.

John A. Nalepa

Mr. John A. Nalepa, 87, of Zephyrhills, Fla., a former resident of Johnstown, died Tuesday (February 8, 2000) at Westbrook Manor, Zephyrhills. He was born in Jamaica, Queens County. Mr. Nalepa previously lived in Johnstown and had resided in Florida 20 years. He was a retired water treatment operator and was employed for 15 years at the Canajoharie Water Department. Mr. Nalepa was a charter member of the Ephratah Volunteer Fire Department. Survivors include his wife, Ethel Nalepa; two daughters, Barbara Whinnery of Northville and Joanne Reynolds of Schenectady; one son, Robert Woyton of Rogers, Ark. two brothers, Stanley Nalepa of Centereach, Suffolk County, and William Nalepa of Hicksville, Nassau County; two sisters, Mary Cassidy of Belleview, Fla. and Sophie Harrigan of Texas; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Oakley Funeral Home, 11441 Route 301, Dade City, Fla.

Gregory A. Orr

Gregory A. Orr, the son of Keith D. and Tracy Becker Orr of Gloversville, died stillborn Wednesday (February 23, 2000) at Nathan Littauer Hospital. Survivors besides his parents include one brother, Christopher Orr of Gloversville; one sister, Cassandra Orr of Gloversville; maternal grandmother, Penny Cammarere of Gloversville; maternal grandfather, Jerry Becker of Tennessee; maternal great-grandmothers, Shirley Becker of Mayfield and Jean Buseck of Gloversville; maternal great-great-grandmother, Eva LaMont of Gloversville; paternal grandparents, Doug and Jean Matter of Pennsylvania; paternal great-grandmother, Edna Mikesell of Pennsylvania; several nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be no calling hours. A private service will be conducted Friday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, Gloversville, at the convenience of the family. The Rev. John Brunetto, pastor of Faith Tabernacle Church, Johnstown, will officiate. Cremation will take place at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady.
