Born in Johnstown, Miss Rupert attended local schools. She moved to the home in 1988.

She was a glove worker at the former Ireland and Cresendoe glove companies of Johnstown, retiring in 1962.

Miss Rupert was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Johnstown.

Survivors include two nieces, Patricia Abbott and Arlene Miller, both of Johnstown.

The service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, 215 E. Main St., Johnstown.

A calling hour will precede the service at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Fern Dale Cemetery, Johnstown.

Edward Gardenier
July 20, 1996

Dr. Edward Gardenier, 71, of Amsterdam, formerly of Montvale, N.J., died July 20 at home.

Born in Montvale, N.J., Dr. Gardenier attended Northampton, Mass., Preparatory School and later the Citadel. He was a cum laude graduate of the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in 1953. Subsequently, he interned at Brook Army Hospital in Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

During World War II, he served with the Navy and during the Korean War, he served with the Army.

Dr. Gardenier maintained a dental practice in Westwood, N.J., until retiring and moving to Amsterdam to become a tree farmer.

For nearly 20 years, he also was a firefighter in Montvale. He served as chief from 1973 to 1974 and again from 1978 to 1979.

Dr. Gardenier was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Woodcliff Lake, N.J.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Nimmo Gardenier; a daughter, Nancy Jean Gardenier of Amsterdam; and five grandchildren.

Services were held July 24 in New Jersey.

Burial was in Pascack Reformed Church Cemetery, Park Ridge, N.J.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Cranesville Reformed Church.

Visitation will follow the service at the Cranesville Fire Department.

Memorial contributions may be made to charity.

Alma Fudger
 A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Evergreen Cemetery in Fonda for Alma Fudger, who died Nov. 5, 1995 in Bisbee, Ariz.

Michael Hill
July 28, 1996

Michael Hill, 42, of East State Street in Gloversville, died Sunday at Nathan Littauer Hospital.

Born in Kings County, Mr. Hill attended Willowbrook State School before moving to Lexington Center in 1988.

He worked for the Lexington Day Treatment Center.

Survivors include two brothers, Ricky and Ronnie Hill, both of Kings County; and a sister, Didi Hill of Kings County.

A service will be held at noon today at the Hollenbeck Funeral Home, 4 Second Ave.

Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Calling hours will be 10 this morning to noon, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Sabina Myers
July 28, 1996

Sabina Irene Myers, 58, of Vanderwerken Road in Carlisle died Sunday at the Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown after a long illness.

Born in East Stroudsburg, Pa., Mrs. Myers was a 1957 graduate of Worcester High School.

Mrs. Myers was a nurse's aide at the former Community Hospital of Cobleskill for several years.

She was a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cobleskill.

Survivors include her husband, Donald A. Myers, whom she married May 27, 1961; two daughters, Jennifer and Lisa Myers, both of Carlisle; four sons, Donald Andrew Myers of Carlisle, Steven Myers of Richmondville, and Jason and Howard Myers, both of Carlisle; three sisters, Louise Smith of Clearwater, Fla., Irene Pomella of Sharon Springs and Clair Hennen of Schenectady; and two brothers, John Gerdes of Carlisle and Howard Gerdes of Cobleskill.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Washington Ave., Cobleskill.

There will be no calling hours.

Cremation was at the Leatherstocking Crematory, Cherry Valley.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Carlisle Volunteer Rescue Squad.

Mildred Tretiak
July 29, 1996

Mildred Osgood Tretiak, 63, of Bunn Street, died Monday afternoon at St. Mary's Hospital.

She was born on February 16, 1933 in Amsterdam, the daughter of Jesse and Gladys Bramer Osgood, and was a lifelong resident. She was a 1951 graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch High School.

Mrs. Tretiak was employed in the produce departments of the Chicago Market, Bag & Save, and Grand Union grocery stores, retiring in 1985.

An avid bowler, she served as president of the Nite Owls Bowling League for ten years. She also bowled in several other leagues.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas Tretiak, to whom she was married on February 16, 1952.

In addition to her husband she is survived by two sons, John Tretiak of Tampa, Florida and William Tretiak of Corinth, N.Y.; two daughters, Christine Montenaro and Susan Taber, both of Amsterdam, three grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock at the Betz Funeral Home, Inc., 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, with the Rev. James Gulley, officiating. The interment will be in Greenhill Cemetery. The calling hours will be on Tuesday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in her memory to the Greater Amsterdam Volunteer Ambulance Corps or St. Mary's Church.
 

Daniel Richardson
July 29, 1996

Daniel G. Richardson, age 46, of 23 S. Arlington Ave., Gloversville died Monday morning at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady following a long illness. 

He was born March 2, 1950 in Watertown and was the son of Gerald and Lucille Kenyon Richardson. He resided in Mayfield from 1958 until moving to Gloversville in 1981.

He was a graduate of Northville Central School.

Mr. Richardson worked at General Electric Co. in Schenectady for about ten years, and later was a self-employed roofer and house-painter until his illness in 1994.

He is survived by his wife, Dawn L. Mosher, whom he married August 15, 1970. He is also survived by one son, Jeffrey D. Richardson of Mayfield, one daughter, Candi Jo Richardson of Gloversville; his parents, Gerald & Lucille Kenyon Richardson of Mayfield; one brother, Bruce C. Richardson of San Antonio, Texas and two sisters, Deborah A. Richardson of Mayfield and Dorothy J. Zimmerman of Gloversville and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Walrather & Bushouer Funeral Home Inc., 51 Fremont St., Gloversville where services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. R.W. Williams officiating.

Interment will take place at Mayfield Cemetery.
 

Robert Scoggins
July 30, 1996

Robert Scoggins, 41, of West Clinton Street, died Tuesday at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, after a long illness.

Born in Augusta, Ga., Mr. Scoggins was educated in New York City and moved to the Johnstown area at age 17.

He was a graduate of Fulton-Montgomery Community College with an associate's degree in computer science.

Mr. Scoggins was a computer operator in the accounting department of R.H. Crown Co. until the onset of his illness in 1993.

He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church.

Survivors include a brother, John Scoggins of Merrick; a sister, Llynn Newman-Schwoerer of Glen Head; and his fiance, Mary M. Marcais of Johnstown.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Church.

Burial will be in Mayfield Cemetery.

Calling hours will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, Main and Melcher streets.

Shanell Mecca
July 22, 1996

Shanell Mecca, 16, of Knox, Ind., formerly of Upper Van Dyke Avenue in Amsterdam, died July 22, at Children's Cancer Hospital in Indianapolis, Ind.

Miss Mecca was born in Bethesda, Md. She resided and attended schools in Germany, Amsterdam and Indiana.

Survivors include her parents, Sgt. Frank Mecca, stationed in Vilseck, Germany and Carol Suder of Knox, Ind.; a sister Julie Mecca of Knox, Ind.; a brother, Anthony Mecca of Knox, Ind.; paternal grandparents, Joseph and Ursula Mecca of Amsterdam, several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial service will be conducted at 9 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 40 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam.

Estella Rost
Aug. 1, 1996

Mrs. Estella Luella Rost, 76, of 128-1/2 West St., Gloversville died Thursday afternoon at the home of her son in Westfield, Mass., after a long illness.

Born Jan. 20, 1920, in Ephratah, she was the daughter of Lester W. and Luella Bellows Bellinger. She resided in Gloversville most of her life.

She was employed in the Marine Division at N.A. Taylor Co., in Gloversville for many years.

She is survived by a son, Darrel Denton Rost of Westfield, Mass.; a sister, Florence Frank of Mayfield, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A private service will take place at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Interment will take place at Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown.

John Ralbovsky

John Ralbovsky, 80, formerly of 8 Orchard St., Gloversville died Wednesday evening at Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home in Gloversville, where he was a resident for four years.

Born April 1, 1916, in Bellaire, Ohio, he was the son of Joseph and Anna Hladik Ralbovsky. He resided in Gloversville most of his life.

He was educated in Johnstown schools and was a Navy veteran of World War II, where he served from April 13, 1945 until May 9, 1945.

He was employed at General Electric Co. in Schenectady for several years, and later worked at several leather tanneries in the area. He was a trimmer for 15 years at the Risedorph Tannery in Gloversville, retiring in 1978.

He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Johnstown. 

He married Virginia Brumaghim ion 1938. She died Sept. 5, 1992.

He is survived by two sons, John "Michael" Ralbovsky of Gloversville, and Anthony J. Ralbovsky of Wetumpka, Ala.; a sister, Elizabeth A. Empey of Gloversville, a brother, Albert M. Velicky of Canajoharie; a granddaughter, Jill, several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

A prayer service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Walrath & Bushouer Funeral Home Inc., 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, with the Rev. Francis Dunbar, pastor of St. Anthony's Church, Johnstown, officiating. 

There will be no calling hours. Interment will take place at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Johnstown.

Pauline Bonfey
Aug. 2, 1996

Mrs. Pauline C. Bonfey, 88, of 68 Helwig St., Gloversville, died Friday morning at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville following a long illness.

Born June 26, 1908, in Gloversville, she was the daughter of Thomas and Nellie Cook Noble. She was a lifelong Gloversville resident and was educated in local schools.

Mrs. Bonfey was employed at Robison-Smith Launderers in Gloversville in the 1920s.

She was a member of the North Main Street United Methodist Church in Gloversville for more than 75 years, and was also a member of the church's Women's Society.

She married Nelson C. Bonfey Dec. 31, 1927. He died Nov. 7, 1979.

Survivors include four sons, Charles F., Thomas N., and Robert W. Bonfey of Gloversville and Donald W. Bonfey of Mayfield; a daughter, Nancy P. Dickinson of Gloversville; 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services are 1 p.m. Monday at the Walrath & Bushouer Funeral Home Inc., 51 Fremont St., Gloversville. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Calling hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Lottie Coalter
Aug. 2, 1996

Lottie Coalter, 92, of 252 Vrooman Ave., Amsterdam, died Friday afternoon at St. Mary's Hospital following a brief illness.

She was born in Amsterdam March 29, 1904, the daughter of Frank and Apolonia Kowalski. She was a lifelong area resident.

She was employed as a finisher for 36 years at the Bigelow Sanford Carpet Co., until her retirement. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Church.

Mrs. Coalter married Henry Coalter July 1, 1944. He died Sept. 15, 1974.

She is survived by four grandsons, Michael, David and Tim Skotarczak of Amsterdam; and Marty Skotarczak of Tribes Hill; two granddaughters, Patricia Kot and Debbie LaBate, both of Amsterdam; and several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons, William (Butch) Skotarczak and Frank Skotarczak, both of Amsterdam.

Funeral services are 8:30 a.m. Monday at the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, 200 Church St., Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church.

Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.

Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
