Edward Rutkowski
January 3, 1997

Edward S. "Rudy" Rutkowski, 77, of Jay Street, Amsterdam, died Friday at his home. 

Born April 14, 1919, in Amsterdam, he was the son of Tomasz and Stephania Mackiewicz Rutkowski. Mr. Rutkowski was a lifelong area resident.

He attended St. Stanislaus School and was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. He was employed by Lou's Market in the meat department, until retiring.

Mr. Rutkowski was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Church.

He was married to Elaine Burke Rutkowski. She died April 10, 1990.

Survivors include a son, William Rutkowski of Amsterdam; a daughter, Liana Zyskowski of Fort Johnson; two sisters, Sister Mary Paula, CSSF, of Enfield, Conn., and Sister Mary Agatha, CSSF of Hartford; two granddaughters; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Amsterdam Funeral Chapel, 13 Belmont Place, followed at 11 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Stanislaus Church. 

Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.

Calling hours are 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Greater Amsterdam Volunteer Ambulance Corps, P.O. Box 11, Amsterdam.
 

Isabel Hartley
January 2, 1997

Isabel Little Hartley, 86, of the Water Wheel Apartments, Montgomery, a former resident of Fort Hunter, died Thursday morning at the Horton Medical Center in Middletown after a short illness.

She was born Feb. 6, 1910, in Amsterdam, the daughter of David and Cora Enos Little. She lived in Fort Hunter for most of her life, moving to Montgomery 15 years ago.

Mrs. Hartley was a homemaker and was of the Methodist faith.

She married Kenneth T. Hartley April 18, 1941. He died Aug. 29, 1977.

She is survived by three daughters, Cynthia Lonigan of Montgomery, Deborah Kervin of Pavilion and Rebecca Ilfeld of Bedford, N.H.; six grandchildren; a great-grandson; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral is noon Sunday at the Betz Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, with the Rev. Calvin Briggs-Harris officiating.

Interment will be in Chuctanunda Cemetery, Minaville, in the spring.

Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Tammy Smith
January 3, 1997

Tammy M. Smith, 31, of 110 Division St. Gloversville, died Friday at Nathan Littauer Hospital after a long illness.

She was born Aug. 26, 1965, in New York City, the daughter of James H. and Mary E. King Smith. She lived most of her life in New York City and moved to Gloversville in August. She was educated in New York City schools.

She was a counselor with several youth agencies in New York City and was a member of the People's A.M.E. Zion Church in Gloversville.

Survivors include her mother, Mary E. King of Gloversville; two sisters, Marian F. King of New York City and Michelle King of Gloversville; a niece, two nephews and two aunts.

Calling hours are today from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Walrath & Bushouer Funeral Home Inc., 51 Fremont St., Gloversville.

The funeral is Monday at 1 p.m. at the People's A.M.E. Zion Church.

Burial will be in Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown.

Adelbert Maxon
January 3, 1997

Adelbert Warren Maxon, 86, of Hales Mills Road Ext., Johnstown, died Friday at Nathan Littauer Hospital after a long illness.

He was born Dec. 30, 1910, in Schenectady, the son of William and Grace Dodge Maxon. He lived most of his life in the Town of Johnstown and was a graduate of the State University of New York at Cobleskill, where he was president of his class.

He was first employed at the Shawbacker Farm in Johnstown and later owned and operated the Maxon farm in Johnstown from 1948 until retiring in 1975.

Mr. Maxon was a member of the North Main Street United Methodist Church in Gloversville, the former Fulton County Farm Bureau, and was a milk tester for the Dairy Herd Improvement Association.

He married Doris Schoolcraft June 23, 1938.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a brother, Arthur Maxon of Gloversville; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours are 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Walrath & Bushouer Funeral Home Inc., 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where funeral services are scheduled at 1 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Steven Clunn, pastor of the North Main Street United Methodist Church, officiating.

Spring burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.

Marguerite Quant
January 3, 1997

Marguerite N. "Peggy" Quant, 56, of 114 Camp Road, Gloversville, died Friday at Albany Medical Center after being stricken suddenly on Thursday.

Born Dec. 3, 1940, in Gloversville, she was the daughter of Joseph M. and Marguerite Fagan Ambrosino. She was a 1959 graduate of Mayfield Central School and served in the Army from 1959 to 1961.

With her husband, she co-owned and operated Dick's Coffee Service for 22 years until her death.

She married Richard K. Quant July 3, 1965.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Amy S. Quant of Gloversville; her mother, Marguerite Ambrosino of Gloversville; two sisters, Joyce Smith of Fonda and Susan Wilson of Johnstown; four brothers, Joseph L. Ambrosino of Boynton Beach, Fla., David A. Ambrosino, Robert J. Ambrosino and Terry L. Ambrosino, all of Gloversville; one granddaughter; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. today and 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Walrath & Bushouer Funeral Home Inc., 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where services will be conducted Monday at 10 a.m. 

Spring burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.

Homer Fusmer
January 2, 1997

Homer W. Fusmer, 98, of the Palatine Nursing Home, formerly of Moyer Street, Canajoharie, died Thursday at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville, after a brief illness. 

Born in Canajoharie July 16, 1898, he was the son of William Fusmer and Anna Flint. He was a graduate of Canajoharie High School. Mr. Fusmer was employed as a foreman at Beech-Nut Nutrition Corp. in the maintenance department for 30 years.

He was a lifelong area resident and lived at the nursing home since 1987.

Mr. Fusmer was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War I.

He was a member of Smith-Schultz American Legion Post 222, being the last World War I member from the post.

He married Mildred Putman in 1928 in Gloversville. She died April 25, 1987.

Mr. Fusmer is survived by a son, Robert Fusmer of Lyons; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are 7 p.m. Sunday at the Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home Inc., 20 Otsego St., Canajoharie.

The Rev. Kenneth Dingman will officiate.

Burial will be in Canajoharie Falls Cemetery, Canajoharie.

Calling hours are Sunday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Robert Liebing
January 2, 1997

Robert W. Liebing Sr., 75, of State Highway 80, Fort Plain, died Thursday at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown after a long illness.

Born in Utica Sept. 21, 1921, he was the son of Fred Liebing and Ester Zimins. He was educated in Utica.

Mr. Liebing was employed as a truck driver for the New York state Department of Transportation in Fultonville for 31 years, retiring in 1978 due to illness.

He lived in Fort Plain for 50 years. Mr. Liebing was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.

He was a member of VFW Post 3275 of Fort Plain.

He married Florence Kane Nov. 30, 1946, in Salt Springville.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Robert W. Liebing Jr. of Great Mills, Md., and Timothy R. Liebing of Fort Plain; a daughter, Linda Edick of California, Md.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three nephews and two nieces.

Services will be private at the Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 20 Otsego St., Canajoharie, at the convenience of the family.

The Rev. Kenneth Dingman will officiate.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.

The VFW will hold a service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mid-County Volunteer Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 126, Canajoharie, 13317; or to a charity of one's choice.
 

Grace Butler
January 1, 1997

Grace Emily Yager Butler, 54, of Fort Plain, died Wednesday at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown.

Mrs. Butler worked in factory production at Keyano Anadizing in Fonda for six years.

She is survived by her companion, Harold Mykel Sr.; a son, Roger Butler Jr. of Fort Plain; two daughters, Denise Bowler of Fort Plain and Bonnie Box of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two stepsons, Harold Mykel Jr. of Mayfield and Shawn Mykel of Pownal, Vt.; three stepdaughters, Jodi Mykel of Ovoca, Colleen Mykel and Delicia Ambrosino, both of Fort Plain; five sisters, Rose Pink of Cooperstown, Mrs. Dayle Chandler of Little Falls, Mrs. Frances Thayer of Illion, Mrs. Nancy Searles of Fort Plain and Virginia Fort of Cooperstown; two brothers, Steven Yager and Melvin Yager, both of Cooperstown; 25 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. 

Cremation took place at the Leatherstocking Crematory Inc., Cherry Valley, and burial will be in Freysbush Cemetery in the spring.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Freysbush United Methodist Church, Freysbush Road, Fort Plain 13339.

Funeral arrangements were by the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley.
 

Anna McGowan
January 3, 1997

Anna Neahr McGowan, 94, formerly of Route 29, Galway, died Friday evening at the Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility after a long illness.

She was born in Albany, June 12, 1902, the daughter of Edward and Felicia Stanton. She moved to Galway in 1934.

Her first husband, Howard David Neahr, died in 1967. She later married Floyd McGowan, who died in the mid-1970s.

Mrs. McGowan was a housekeeper for 25 years and belonged to the Broadalbin Senior Citizens, the Ladies Home Circle, the Providence Baptist Church, Golden Age Club, and was a charter member of the Galway Fish and Game Club.

Survivors include a daughter, Louise Sherman of Gloversville; three sons, H. Richard Neahr, Homer E. Neahr and Carl E. Neahr, all of Galway; 17 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral is Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Richard J. Ryan Funeral Home, Sacandaga Road, Galway. 

Burial will be in Barkersville Cemetery, Town of Providence.

Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.
 

Milagros Nunez
January 4, 1997

Milagros Nunez, 45, of Division Street, Amsterdam, died Saturday morning at St. Mary's Hospital after a long illness.

She was born in Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico, Aug. 14, 1951, a daughter of Carlos Balay and Maria Maldonado. She was educated there and moved to Amsterdam in 1982.

She was employed by Liberty Enterprises until ill health forced her retirement.

Mrs. Nunez was a member of the Alpha & Omega Church of God.

Survivors include her husband, Pedro Nunez of Amsterdam; her father, Carlos Balay of Seabrook, N.J.; two sons, Humberto Rivera of Amsterdam and Hector Rivera of Puerto Rico; a daughter, Yalimizet Rivera of Puerto Rico; three brothers, Domingo Maldonado of Puerto Rico and Nativio and Efraim Maldonado, both of Hollywood, Fla.; eight grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Alpha & Omega Church of God, 231 E. Main St., Amsterdam, with the Rev. Pedro J. Torres officiating.

Interment is in Fairview Cemetery.

Edward Karp
January 4, 1997

Edward A. Karp, 81, of Lefferts Street, Amsterdam, died Saturday evening at St. Mary's Hospital.

He was born March 30, 1915, in Amsterdam, the son of Albert and Eva Karp. He was educated locally and was a lifelong area resident.

Mr. Karp served in the Army Air Force during World War II.

For several years he worked for the Bigelow-Sanford Carpet Co. He later worked for the City of Amsterdam Parks and Recreation Department before retiring in 1978.

He was a member of St. Stanislaus Church and St. Michael the Archangel Society of the church.

He married Regina Parcinski Jan. 25, 1942.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Richard Karp of Rotterdam Junction and Peter Karp of Amsterdam; a daughter, Judith Bennett of Amsterdam; two grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services are 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, 200 Church St., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church.

Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.

Calling hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Ruth Kelly
January 5, 1997

Mrs. Ruth "Virginia" House Kelly, 86, formerly of the Stratton Apartments, Amsterdam, and a resident of Vincent, Alabama, died Sunday morning at the St. Clare Regional Hospital, Pell City, Alabama.

She was born on March 6, 1910 in Amsterdam, the daughter of Charles and Mattie Holmes House. She resided in Amsterdam for most of her life, moving to Alabama four years ago. 

Mrs. Kelly was a graduate of the Amsterdam High School Class of 1929. She was at one time employed as an office clerk at the Montgomery County Welfare Office in Amsterdam, and by the City of Amsterdam. She was later employed by the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance in Albany, retiring in 1975.

Mrs. Kelly was a member of the Fort Johnson Seniors. She was a communicant of St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Amsterdam.

She was preceded in death by two sons, R. Edwin Kelly in 1984, and Joseph Kelly Jr., in 1991, and a grandson, Edwin Kelly in 1994.

She was married on Feb. 8, 1930, to Joseph T. Kelly. He died in 1964.

Mrs. Kelly is survived by her son, Thomas L. Kelly of Vincent, Alabama; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and several cousins.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Betz Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, with the Rev. Robert Doxey, officiating. The interment will be in Greenhill Cemetery in the spring. Calling hours are Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church, in care of the funeral home.

Anna Neahr McGowan, 94, formerly of Route 29, Galway, died Friday at the Wilkinson Residential Center in Amsterdam after a long illness.

Born in Albany, Mrs. McGowan lived in Galway since 1934 and was employed as a housekeeper for 25 years.

A service is set for 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Richard J. Ryan Funeral Home, Sacandaga Road, Galway Village. Burial will be in Barkersville Cemetery.

Doris Monk
January 3, 1997

Doris Holman Monk, 93, of 1096 79th St., St. Petersburg, Fla., died Friday, Jan. 3, at home after a long illness.

Born Sept. 16, 1903 in England, she was the daughter of Archibald W. and Lily Palmer Holman. She resided in Gloversville since the age of 1 for 68 years, in St. Petersburg, Fla. the past 28 years.

She was educated in GloversvilleHigh School. Mrs. Monk was employed as en executive secretary with the Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation for many years, retiring in 1965.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, 59 S. Main St., Gloversville.

She was married to Merrill Edward Monk who died June 4, 1963.

Survivors include two cousins, Sheila Murphy of Fairfield, Ohio; and Edna Gray of Boole, Dorsett, England.

Calling hours are from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Walrath & Bushouer Inc., 51 Fremont St., Gloversville where services will be conducted Wednesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Gary Siegfried, pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating. Spring burial will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 59 S. Edgar Arsenault
January 3, 1997

Edgar J. Arsenault, 91, of County Route 113, died Friday at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville after a short illness.

Born in New Brunswick, Canada, Mr. Arsenault attended schools in Canada and had lived in Northville since 1922. He was a self-employed contractor for many years.

His wife, Catherine Conkling Arsenault, died in 1984.

Survivors include a son, John Arsenault of Northville; two daughters, Dale Dunham of Greensboro, N.C., and Dawn Davis of Italy, Texas; a brother, Henry Arsenault of New Brunswick; a sister, Amelda Arsenault of Ottawa; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Northville Funeral Home, 401 Bridge St.

Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 today at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the spring in Edinburg Cemetery.

Thomas "Rip" Ripepi
January 5, 1997

Thomas D. "Rip" Ripepi, 73, of Florida Avenue, Amsterdam, died Sunday morning at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady after a brief illness.

Born in Amsterdam on March 12, 1923, he was a son of Joseph and Concetta Matorazzo Ripepi. He was a lifelong resident and attended local schools. Mr. Ripepi was employed for a time as a manager at the Muny Golf Course Concession. For the past 10 years, he was the proprietor of Rip's Coffee Shop on Florida Avenue.

During World War II he was stationed in Europe with the U.S. Army Air Corps and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.

He was a member of the Southside Veterans Association, the Southside Bocce Club and the Columbian Social Club.

Mr. Ripepi was a communicant of St. Michael The Archangel Roman Catholic Church.

Survivors include his companion, Margaret Bernard of Albany; one son, Joseph A. Ripepi of Menands; three brothers, Armand Ripepi of Ballston Spa, Ernest and Francis Ripepi, both of Amsterdam; two sisters, Angelina Martuscello and Josephine Megna both of Amsterdam; two grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 8:15 a.m. at the Rossi Funeral Home, 11 Mohawk Place, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15 at St. Michael's Church. Interment is in St. Michael's Cemetery.

Calling hours are Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
 

Elizabeth "Belle" Rogers
January 3, 1997

Mrs. Elizabeth Rogers, 83, of Division Street, Northville, died Friday at the Palatine Nursing Home in Palatine Bridge after a long illness.

Born in Northville, Mrs. Rogers was a lifelong area resident and a graduate of Northville Central School. She attended nursing school at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.

Mrs. Rogers was employed for more than 20 years at Hellaren's Market and also worked at P&C in Gloversville for 15 years, retiring in 1975.

Survivors include two sons, Henry Rogers of Lake Pleasant and John Rogers of Northville; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Northville Funeral Home, 401 Bridge St. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery in the spring.

Frances Famiano
January 5, 1997

Mrs. Frances C. Famiano, 55, of Glenville Street, Rotterdam, died Sunday at home after a short illness.

Mrs. Famiano was born in Amsterdam and was the daughter of Albert and Frances Litwa. She was a 1960 graduate of Amsterdam High School and had lived in this area since 1961.

She was a school crossing guard in Rotterdam for 19 years.

Mrs. Famiano was a communicant of Our Lady of Assumption Church.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph Famiano, whom she married Jan. 27, 1961; two daughters, Tina L. McWhinnie of Edinburg and Jill A. Murray of Rotterdam; and two granddaughters.

Services will be held at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., and at 9 a.m. at the Church of Our Lady of Assumption.

Burial will be in Schenectady Memorial Park.

John VanDyke
January 5, 1997

John G. VanDyke, 88, of the Northway Mobile Home Park, Perth, died Sunday after a long illness.

Born Jan. 11, 1908 in Rotterdam, he was the son of Vedder and Nellie Gerding VanDyke. He graduated from the Schonowee School in Rotterdam. He resided in the community all of his life.

Mr. VanDyke worked for General Electric Company as a superintendent in Building No. 97 for 42 years. He retired in 1970. He was a member of the G.E. Quarter Century Club.

He was married to Harriet Parker VanDyke. She died July 23, 1996.

Survivors include one son, Roy VanDyke of Mechanicville; a sister, Helen Ellers of Mariaville; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. from Light's Funeral Home Inc., 1428 State St. Calling hours are Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will take place in Park Cemetery, Scotia.
 

Libbie Androws
January 4, 1997

Mrs. Libbie Little Androws, 85, of Close Street, Schenectady, died Saturday at Ellis Hospital after a long illness.

Born in Amsterdam, Mrs. Androws lived most of her life in Schenectady.

She was employed as a waitress at the Auchenbaugh Restaurant in Glenville for 23 years, retiring in 1966.

Her husband, Charles B. Androws, died in 1965.

Survivors include two daughters, Thelma DeGraff of Freeport, Fla., and Vivian Androws of Schenectady; a sister,Ketey Deay of Galway; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park, Colonie.

Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 today at the funeral home.

Maurice "Moe" Arndt, 70, formerly of Lampman Road, Broadalbin, died Saturday evening at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility, where he had been a resident for the past two years.

Born March 23, 1926 in Amsterdam, he was the son of Albert and Bridie Crandall Arndt. He resided in Amsterdam for most of his life, moving to Broadalbin in 1984.

He was employed as a technician in the Textile Lab of the Research and Development Department of Mohasco Industries for 41 years. He was later employed at the Mohawk Furniture Company in Broadalbin retiring in 1988.

Mr. Arndt served in the United States Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater of Operations.

He was a communicant of St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church of Hagaman.

He is survived by two sons, Mark S. Arndt of McMurray, Penn.., and Thomas Arndt of Broadalbin; two daughters, Linda Ritchie of Broadalbin and Maureen Schmidtmann of Perth; four sisters, Marguerite Schedlbauer of Hagaman, Eileen Arndt and Levina Markes, both of Amsterdam, and June Simpson of Perth; five grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Betz Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Stephen's Church, Hagaman. The interment will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery in the spring. Calling hours are today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the American Parkinson Disease Association in care of the funeral home.
 

Beatrice Gross
January 5, 1997

Mrs. Beatrice Dittman Gross, 92, of Sprout Brook, died Sunday at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital.

Born June 13, 1904 in Palatine Bridge, she was the daughter of William and Elsie (Hess) Dittman. She was a 1921 graduate of Palatine Bridge High School. 

She married Arthur J. Gross on June 18, 1924. He died Aug. 28, 1980.

Mrs. Gross was employed by the Glen Telephone Co. in Canajoharie. She was a member of Ames-Sprout Brook Methodist Church, a charter member of Brookside Crafters, and a 60 plus member of the Eastern Star, lately in Otsego-Hartwick Chapter 201 OES, Cooperstown.

Mrs. Gross wrote for the Courier-Standard-Enterprise newspaper for 60 years, and for the Cobleskill Times Union.

She is survived by a son, Dr. Arthur G. Gross of New Providence N.J., two daughters, Elinor Douglass of Marshville and Jeanne Ripple of Goldsboro, N.C., eight grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a niece, Audrey Flint of Amsterdam, and a nephew.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley, with the Rev. Carter Adriance, pastor of the Ames-Sprout Brook United Methodist Church, officiating. Spring burial will be in the Fort Plain Cemetery.

Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with an Eastern Star Service at 8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cherry Valley Emergency Squad or the Ames-Sprout United Methodist Church.

Arlene Quiri
January 4, 1997

Arlene V. Quiri, 64, of Queen Anne Street, Fort Hunter, died Saturday at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

Born April 10, 1932 in Nelliston, she was the daughter of Everson and Katherine Kilmartin Smith.

She was a graduate of the Fort Plain school system and was a lifelong area resident.

Mrs. Quiri was a homemaker and of the Protestant faith. She was a member of the Fort Hunter United Methodist Church.

She married George E. Quiri on March 24, 1954. He died Dec. 10, 1990.

Survivors include two sons, Michael Quiri and Mark Quiri of Fort Hunter; a daughter, Karen Nichols of Fort Hunter, a brother, Ronald Smith of Tribes Hill; seven grandchildren and two nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the DeStefano Funeral Home, Route 5S, Amsterdam, with Pastor Christopher Hamm officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery

Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fort Hunter Volunteer Fire Department.
