Charles J. Kolbe Jr., 10, of County Route 110, Broadalbin, died Wednesday evening at home.

Born Aug. 2, 1986 in Amsterdam, he was the son of Charles "Bud" and Carla Ciotto Kolbe.

C.J. was a fifth-grade student at Broadalbin-Perth Intermediate School.

He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Amsterdam.

C.J. was a participant of the Amsterdam Little Giants Football League, and Amsterdam C.Y.O. Basketball League, and also a member of the Iditarod Trail Committee.

In addition to his parents, survivors include two brothers, Kyle and Keegan Kolbe of Broadalbin; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kolbe of Amsterdam, his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Ciotto of Amsterdam; and Mr. and Mrs. Dan Williams of Virginia Beach, Va., aunts, uncles and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will be concelebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Church in Amsterdam. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson.

Calling hours are from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Riley Mortuary Inc., 110 Division St., Amsterdam.

Alexander Andrzejewski
February 6, 1997

Alexander Andrzejewski, 72, of Van Derveer Street, Amsterdam, died Thursday afternoon at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, after being stricken at home.

Born March 21, 1924 in Amsterdam, he was the son of Wadislaw and Jadwiga Celmer Andrzejewski, and was a lifelong city resident. He was a 1942 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam.

During World War II he served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in the Chini-Burma-India Theatre, where he was a crew chief on a military transport.

Mr. Andrzejewski was employed for more than 20 years by W.D. Redding Inc., where he was both a driver and bottler. He later was employed as a school bus driver with the Greater Amsterdam School District, and a security guard with Coleco Industries. He retired in 1990.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Andrzejewski Graham, on March 1, 1996.

He married the former Margaret Brennan on June 13, 1945.

In addition to his wife, survivors include three sons, Thomas Andrzejewski of Amsterdam, Wayne Andrzejewski of Broadalbin, and Patrick Andrzejewski of Perth; two daughters, Eileen Andrzejewski of Amsterdam, and Vitalia McEckron of North Granville; a sister, Sadie Cetnar of Scotia; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews andcousins.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the Betz Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, with the Rev. Conrad Somerville officiating. Interment will be in Maple Avenue Cemetery, Fultonville. 

Calling hours are from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Lorna Jeans
February 5, 1997

Lorna A. Jeans, 49, of Grand Street, Amsterdam, died Wednesday evening at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

Born Sept. 17, 1947 in Gloversville, she was the daughter of Ralph B. and Cora Mead Jeans and resided in Broadalbin as a child. She graduated from Gloversville High School in 1966. She had lived in the Gloversville Johnstown area most of her life, moving to Amsterdam three years ago.

Miss Jeans was employed as a home health aide in Fulton County until retiring due to disability in 1988.

She was a member of the Calvary Assemply of God in Amsterdam and its Womens Ministries.

Survivors include a son, Mark VanAlstyne of Virginia Beach, Va., a daughter Kelly Tran of Johnstown, a sister, Linda Dence of Johnstown; three grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews andcousins.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 38 W. Main St., Broadalbin, with the Rev. Raymond Barnett officiating. Spring interment will take place at the Broadalbin Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. 
 

Myra Landers
February 4, 1997

Mrs. Myra D. Landers, 83, formerly of Johnstown died Tuesday in South Holland, Ill.

She was born and educated in Rural Grove and was a homemaker.

She was married to James C. Landers, who died in 1994.

Mrs. Landers was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of South Holland, Ill.

Survivors include two dauthers, Myrna Henshilwood of Munster, Ind., Marilyn Karasoff of Dolton, Ill.; a son, Charles Landers of Florence, Ore.; two sisters, Betsy A. Slavic of Florida and Berth Dopp of New York; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Calling hours are from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the Drumm Funeral Home, 1200 F. 162nd St., South Holland, Ill.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St., Fultonville. Burial will be in Maple Avenue Cemetery.

Craig Wright
February 6, 1997

Craig C. Wright, 80, of Lower Sodom Road, Schoharie, died Thursday at Bassett Hospital of Schoharie County, Cobleskill, after a short illness.

Mr. Wright was born in Berne and attended a one-room schoolhouse there.

He was a resident of Schoharie since 1969.

Mr. Wright was a parts manager in the Guilderland and Rotterdam Industrial Parks for 15 years. Prior to that, he was a security officer for the Montgomery Ward Co., formerly of Menands, for several years. Many years ago, Mr. Wright was a security officer in New York City. He was a member of the state Trappers Association and the National Rifle Association.

Survivors include his companion, Ardella Diamond of Schoharie; three sons, Richard C., Charles C., and Gary A. Wright, all of East Berne; a daughter, Ginger Pugliese of East Berne; four sisters, Marjorie Wood of Huntersland, Doris Warner of West Berne, Willma Fountain of Broadalbin and Loretta Crewell of Berne; three stepsons, Victor "Mike" and Leland Diamond, both of Schoharie and Rodney Diamond of Gallupville; two stepdaughters, Alice Self of Schoharie and Loraine Loucks of Schoharie, and several grandchldren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Langan Funeral Home, 227 Main St., where calling hours will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Thomson's Lake Cemetery in East Berne.

Helen Lee
February 6, 1997

Helen B. Lee, 76 of Fish House Road, Broadalbin, died Thursday evening at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

Born June 13, 1920 in Broadalbin, she was the daughter of George and Charlotte Olmstead Buell Sr., and was a graduate of Broadalbin High School. In 1940 she graduated from what is now the State University College at Oneonta. She was an elementary school teacher in Hudson. Subsequently she became treasurer of Arleigh Lee & Co. of Broadalbin, a firm which invented and sold equipment to the cheese industry.

The Lees lived in Adams, and then Canton, before moving back to Broadalbin in 1971.

Mrs. Lee was secretary/treasuer of the Northampton Cemetery Association, a member of the Canton chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. 

She was a member of the Northampton United Methodist Church at Fish House, where she was winter organist, editor of the church newsletter, a member of the church's administrative board and was administrator of the flower fund and the placement of flowers on the altar for Sunday worship. She was predeceased by a son, Barry W. Lee, who died in 1971.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Arleigh Lee, whom she married Aug. 29, 1941; three sons, Bradford B. Lee of Concord, Calif., Brian J. Lee of Canton and Mark A. Lee of Essex Junction, Vt; a brother, George Buell Jr. of Broadalbin; two granddaughters, several nieces, nephews and a cousin.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Northampton United Methodist Church, South Shore Road in Fish House with the Rev. Robert Jeffers, pastor, officiating. Spring burial will be in Broadalbin Cemetery.

Calling hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 38 West Main St., Broadalbin.

Mary Iannotti
February 7, 1997

Mrs. Mary M. Iannotti, 82, of Grieme Avenue, Amsterdam, died Friday morning at the Brigham & Womens Hospital in Boston following heart surgery.

Born in Amsterdam on May 24, 1914, she was the daughter of Nicholas and Antonia Vidulich Pereicich. Mrs. Iannotti was a lifelong resident and attended local schools. 

She was employed by White Stag & Briers and lastly by Mohawk Sportswear before retiring in 1980.

Mrs. Iannotti was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ralph S. Iannotti; one son, Ralph Iannotti of Pittsburgh; two daughters, Mary Pikul of Hagaman, and Flora Iannotti of Amsterdam; three brothers, Joseph Pereicich of Amsterdam, John Pereicich of Amsterdam, and Edward Pereicich of Schenectady; three sisters, Anne Smith and Dolores Pereicich of Amsterdam, and Virginia VanAvery of Fort Plain; two grandsons; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours are Sunday, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Rossi Funeral Home, 11 Mohawk Place. 

Services will be conducted Monday at 12:45 p.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Church, 156 E. Main St.

Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson.

Lillian Schrell
February 6, 1997

Lillian Grace Race Schrell, 86, of Douglas Street, Fort Plain, died Thursday at Little Falls Hospital after a short illness.

Born in Fort Plain on Dec. 17, 1910, she was the daughter of Alvin Race and Grace Freehold. Mrs. Schrell was educated in Fort Plain schools and was a homemaker.

She was a lifelong Fort Plain resident.

Mrs. Schrell was a member of the Fort Plain United Methodist Church. She attended the Fort Plain Senior Center and was a member of the Fort Plain-Nelliston Senior Citizens Group.

She married Arthur E. Schrell on Jan. 24, 1931. He died July 1, 1973.

Survivors include two daughters, Janet I. Louman of Canajoharie, and Iona R. Smith of Fort Plain; four sons, Bradley L. Schrell and Walter D. Schrell, both of Nelliston; Arthur A. Schrell of Fort Plain, and Rodney G. Schrell of Stone Arabia; 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousin.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. at the Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center St., Fort Plain. The Rev. Alan Baumback will officiate.

Spring burial will be in Fort Plain Cemetery.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

The Fort Plain-Nelliston Senior Citizens Group will conduct a service at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Donald Way
February 6, 1997

Donald Edger Way, 72, of Route 334 Fonda, died Thursday at home after a long illness.

Born in Gloversville March 4, 1924, he was the son of Steven and Cathryn Buyce Way. He was educated in Gloversville schools.

Mr. Way was a saw operator at N.A. Taylor in Gloversville for 31 years, retiring in 1988.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp. in World War II. He served with the 433rd Fighter Squadron as an aircraft mechanic.

Mr. Way was a former member of the North Main Street United Methodist Church, Gloversville, and a former member of the VFW Post 942 in Fonda. He was a member of the Hole in One Club, Highland Meadows Golf Course.

Survivors include his wife Nora-Anne Andrews Way, whom he married June 10, 1947; a son, Donald Earl Way of Fonda; a daughter, Sue-Anne Loveless of Johnstown; a brother, Earl Way of Gloversville; seven grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by a daughter Stephanie Penny Way, and a brother, Bruce Way.

Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St., Fultonville.

Services will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery Fonda.

Michael Kosineski
February 6, 1997

Michael T. Kosineski, 52, a former resident of Amsterdam, a resident of Washington, D.C., died Thursday morning at the Gilchrist Center in Baltimore, Md.

Born Sept. 8, 1944 in Amsterdam, he was the son of George J. and Virginia P. Masto Kosineski. Mr. Kosineski graduated from St. Mary's Institute in 1962. He has lived most of his life in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Kosineski worked in retail management for 14 years.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served from1967 to 1968 and was the recipient of the Bronze Star. He later re-enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served until 1972 at the rank of Sergeant E-5.

Mr. Kosineski was a former member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church.

Survivors include his mother, Virginia Masto Kosineski Brach and his stepfather, Eugene Brach of New Market, Md.; his maternal grandmother, Laura Masto of Clifton Park; two brothers, a twin, Dennis V. Kosineski of Damascus, Md., and Robert J. Kosineski Sr. of Amsterdam; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Betz Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam.

Services will be conducted at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, followed at 10 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson with full military honors.

Beverly Van Alstine
February 7, 1997

Beverly E. Van Alstine, 64, of 163 County Route 157, Gloversville, died Friday at home where she suddenly was stricken.

Born Oct. 9, 1932 in Jamestown, she was the daughter of Alvin A. and Violet V. Bergsten Johnson. She had lived in Gloversville since 1960.

She was a graduate of Brockton Central School and Buffalo General Hospital School of Nursing.

Mrs. Van Alstine was employed as a nurse at the former Johnstown Hospital. She also worked at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, and the Fulton County Infirmary. At the time of her death, she worked for the BOCES Nursing Sub Service of Johnstown.

She was a member of the Ida McGinness Senior Citizens Club. She also was a member of the North Main Street United Methodist Church where she was a past chairperson of the Mission Team and a member of the United Methodist Women.

Her husband, Kenneth B. Van Alstine Sr., whom she married Dec. 20, 1952, survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Kenneth B. Van Alstine Jr. of Broadalbin, and Richard A. Van Alstine of Gloversville; two daughters, Valerie E. Kevlin of Perth and Judith L. Antonucci of Gloversville; 12 grandchildren; a niece; a nephew; a grand-nephew; and a cousin.

Mrs. Van Alstine was predeceased by a sister, Alice Sharp.

Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Walrath & Bushouer, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, and 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the North Main Street United Methodist Church, where services will follow at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Steven Clunn officiating.

Burial will be in Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown.
