Martha Miller
TROY — Martha Donahue Miller, 92, of Gurley Avenue, died Saturday, December 6, 2008, at Samaritan Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Lansingburgh, she was daughter of the late Martin and Maude (Harden) Donahue and wife of Henry V. Miller for 69 years.
She was raised and educated in Lansingburgh where she resided until 1939, later living in Brunswick.
Martha was a self employed private duty home health aide for many years. She enjoyed playing the piano and teaching piano.
She was a very active member of Memorial United Methodist Church (now Hope United Methodist Church), serving on the staff parish committee. Martha was past President of United Methodist Women for 10 years. She also was a member Christian Women, the Ilium Literary Club and Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary where she volunteered for 1,425 hours. She was also a member of the West Sand Lake Grange and Brunswick Elks Auxiliary.
In addition to husband, survivors include four daughters, Carolyn (Alfred) Chenot of Loudonville, Nancy (Joseph) Couch of Cohoes, Judith (James) Koblenzer of Lansingburgh, and Jean (Kenneth) Purcell of Troy; two sisters, Edna Darmetko of Clifton Park and Pearl DePoalo of Colonie; eight grandchildren, April VonBorstel of Maryland, Joann (Paul) Lionarons of West Sand Lake, Darren (Kate) Purcell of Ballston Spa, Debra Walker of New York City, Sharon (John) Korzelius of Oakfield, NY, Eric (Jude) Koblenzer of Troy, Keith Purcell of Lansingburgh, and Marcy (Matt) Fiet of East Greenbush; 17 great grandchildren; a nephew, Martin DePoalo; and a niece, Marie Woodworth, both of Albany; and several additional nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m at Hope United Methodist Church 566 Brunswick Road Eagle Mills with Rev. David Martin, pastor, officiating.
Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc., 276 Pawling Ave., Troy on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. Interment will be in Elmwood Hill Cemetery in Troy.

Ann Oswald
BERLIN — Ann K. Oswald, 78 of Greene’s Brook Road, died on Saturday. Survivors include her children, Leonard F. (Amy) Nicpon, Katheryn N. (Garry) Burdick and Timothy D. (Tina) Oswald all of Berlin; grandchildren Shellie, Courtney, Nicholas, Katie, Jonathon; great-grandson Aiden Carr and niece Sandra (William) King of Green Island. Following Ann’s wishes, there will be no services or calling hours. Private burial in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Troy. Contributions to Berlin Rescue Squad. Cynthia Taylor
TROY — Cynthia L. Taylor, 60, of Sixth Avenue, died on Monday, December 8, 2008, at the Samaritan Hospital in Troy. Funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home Inc. (corner of 115th Street and Fourth Avenue), Lansingburgh. A calling hour will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Friday in the funeral home. Interment will be in Elmwood Hill Cemetery, Troy.

George Wesley Daniels, 85
Troy - George Wesley Daniels, 85, of Lincoln Avenue, died Wednesday at Samaritan Hospital Troy.
Born in Grafton, he was son of the late J Maxwell and Nellie Snyder Daniels and for 61 years was husband of Minnie Miller Daniels who died in April of 2002. He had resided in Troy for the past 50 years.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Daniels worked for 8 years at Security Supply and in the dairy industry for 33 years at Diamond Rock Creamery, Dairylea and Normanskill.
He was a charter member of the Sullivan Jones VFW Post 7466 Poestenkill; a longtime member of the Poestenkill Evangelical Lutheran Church and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include four sons, Gerald Daniels (Eleanor) of Troy, David Daniels (Beverly) of Waterford, Erle Daniels of Troy and Timothy Daniels of Clifton Park; a daughter, Nancy Wittemer (James) of Troy; two brothers, Lloyd Daniels (Adelaide) of Santa Maria, CA and Robert Daniels of Cropseyville; a sister-in-law, Irene Wheeler of Poestenkill; 15 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Harold Daniels and a brother Raymond Daniels.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 3:00pm at the Poestenkill Evangelical Lutheran Church, NY Route 351 Poestenkill with Rev. Stephen L. Cordes, Pastor, officiating. There will be no calling hours. Interment in Center Brunswick Cemetery.

Ruth Ives Daley,77
Poestenkill - Ruth Ives Daley,77, of Main Street, died Sunday at her residence after a brief illness.
Born in Troy she was daughter of the late Alson H. and Gladys Cottrell Ives and wife of the late Howard A. Daley. She had resided in Poestenkill for the past 40 years and was educated at Troy High School, class of 1943 and attended Troy Business College.
Mrs. Daley was Executive Director of the Campfire Girls for many years. Prior to that she worked for Manufacturers National Bank and Sim & Company in Troy.
She was a Campfire Girl leader, a member of the board of the Troy Area Council of Campfire Girls Inc. and a director of Camp Kiwanis. She was active in the Troy Christian Church and was secretary, taught Sunday school, was President of the Mission Circle and was organist and choir director. She was also organist of the Eagle Mills Methodist Church, taught piano many years ago and was a member of the Poestenkill Historical Society and the Brunswick Church. She loved sewing, crafts, gardening and music.
Survivors include two daughters Carol D. Daniel (William E.) of Moreland Hills, OH and Barbara D. Cummings (Charles R. Jr.) of Poestenkill; a son Thomas H. Daley (Kate) of Center Brunswick; two sisters Dorothy McChesney of Moriah, NY and Marjorie Wagar (Merritt) of Grafton; six grandchildren Petar and Marc Daniel, Kristin and Justin Cummings and Tracey and Christopher Daley; 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00am at Brunswick Church, White Church Road with Rev. Harry J. Heintz and Rev. Kate Kotfila co-pastors, officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the church Wednesday from 10-11am prior to the service. Interment Elmwood Hill Cemetery in Troy.

Mary Farrell Cipperly, 88
Troy - Mary Farrell Cipperly, 88, of Tibbits Avenue and formerly of Route 43 West Sand Lake, died Thursday at Heritage House Nursing Center Troy, after a long illness.
Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late John and Catherine Stack Farrell and wife of the late Ervin G. Cipperly. She had resided in Lansingburgh and then in South Troy until 1938 when she moved to West Sand Lake. She was a graduate of St. Mary's School in Troy.
Mrs. Cipperly was a shirt presser for Cluett Peabody & Company in Troy for 50 years retiring in 1982.
She was a member of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers Union.
Survivors include a daughter, Jeanne A. Brown of Albany; a sister, Margaret Hennessey of Troy; a grandson Brian Jennings of Atlanta, GA and a granddaughter Jennifer Pioggia of West Sand Lake.
Funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00am from the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 4392 Route 150 West Sand Lake with Rev. James E. Clark, Pastor of St. Jude the Apostle Church in Wynantskill, officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 4-7pm. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery in Troy.

Lorraine S. Keneston Daus, 75
North Greenbush, NY - Lorraine S. Keneston Daus, 75, of Hampton Place, died Thursday, October 24, 2002, at Samaritan Hospital Troy, after a long illness.
Born in Scranton, PA she was daughter of the late Raymond Keneston and Elsie Beckett Keneston Mabbett and wife of the late John Daus. She had resided in Pleasantdale and the Troy area all her life and was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School.
Mrs. Daus was an executive secretary for the Chairman of the Board of Albany Savings Bank, Gil Roberts, for 10 years retiring in 1992. Prior to that she was a legal secretary in the Albany area.
She was a member of St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary, Business and Professional Women and a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Judith L. Daus of Meriden, CT; four sons, Gerald R. Daus of Ijamsville, MD, Thomas F. Daus of Hudson, Steven M. Daus of North Carolina and Jeffrey J. Daus of Latham; a brother, Gordon Keneston of Arizona and 10 grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be held Monday at 11:00am from St. Michael the Archangel Church Williams Road North Greenbush. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. corner of Pawling at Maple Avenues in Troy on Sunday from 1-5pm.
