Albert V. Marchigiani

The Honorable Albert V. Marchigiani, a life long area resident of Bedford Hills, NY died at his home on October 10, 2008.

Mr. Marchigiani was born in Bedford Hills, NY on January 5, 1920, the son of Angelo Marchigiani and Frances Scerrati Marchigiani.

Mr. Marchigiani was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Force, European Theatre of Operations from 1942 – 1945. He entered active service on November 2, 1942 and participated in battles and campaigns in Ardennes; Central Europe; Northern France and Rhineland.

Albert Marchigiani received the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal and The World War II Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged as a Technician Fifth Grade, 862nd Engineer Aviation Battalion on December 4, 1945.

He received a Bachelor of Science degree in International and Labor relations from Cornell University and a Doctor of Law Degree from Cornell Law School in 1953.

Mr. Marchigiani served as Justice of the Peace for the Town of Bedford from 1960 – 1964.

He served three successful two year terms as Supervisor of the Town of Bedford from\974 – 1980.

Mr. Marchigiani was the Past Commander, Robert F. Crandall Post – No. 129 American Legion and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 9254, Bedford Hills.

He was also a member of the Westchester County Bar Association; New York State Bar Association and the N.Y.S. Association of Magistrates.

In addition to these accomplishments, Mr. Marchigiani was one of the founding attorneys of the Northern Westchester County Board of Legislators and a 50 year member of the Westchester County Bar Association. He was a co-founder of A-Home in 1985; an

organization that creates and maintains housing opportunities for Westchester’s more vulnerable citizens, writing their first by-laws and obtaining incorporation and tax exempt status.

Albert Marchigiani is survived by two sisters, Flora A. Marchigiani of Bedford Hills and Marie J. Murray of Schenectady, NY; he is also survived by several nieces, nephews and

cousins. He is predeceased by his wife, Jean Schumann Marchigiani, his brother, Alfred Marchigiani and sisters, Eleanor Shopiro and Edith Cooper.

The family will receive friends from 2 - 4 pm and 7 - 9 pm on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, New York.

The Memorial Mass will be on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at 10:30 am at St. Mary of the Assumption R.C. Church, Katonah, New York.

Interment will be at the Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia with Military Honors.

CARDONE, DOMINICK A.
Dominick A. Cardone of Congers, NY passed away suddenly on Sunday Sep. 14, 2008. He was born in on April 28, 1929 the Bronx, to Catherine and Joseph Cardone. Dominick married Concetta Di Falco in November 1950 at Mt. Carmel Church in the Bronx and in 1969 they moved to Rockland County. He worked for the New York Thruway Authority and retired in 1985. He enjoyed playing cards at the Stony Point Seniors. Dominick will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Concetta and daughter, Joanne Cardone. He is also survived by, a sister, Catherine Tjaden and brother-in-law Byron of Henderson, NV. Dominick was predeceased by four brothers and one sister. Friends may call Wednesday September 17, 2008 from 2 to 8 pm at the "Family Owned" Joseph W. Sorce F.H. Inc. Marion Cincotti, 85, of Harrison died September 15, 2008. She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Mass of the Resurrection 11 am Wednesday, Immaculate Conception Church, Irvington.

CORNACCHIA, EUGENE

Eugene Cornacchia, 91, of Scarsdale, died on September 16, 2008. He was born September 24, 1916 in Monteleone di Puglia, Italy to Leonarda and Leonardo Cornacchia. Beloved husband of the late Marie, devoted father of Leonard and his wife Monica and Eugene and his wife Annmarie, cherished grandfather of Elisabeth, Lauren and Katie and great-grandfather of Ava Yvonne. Dear brother of Angelo and Louis Cornacchia, Mary Lolis and Carmela Salamone and the late Incornada Maresco, Elvira Odell, Rocco Cornacchia, Ida Parella and Lucy Scampoli. Visiting at the Westchester Funeral Home, Inc., Eastchester, Thursday, September 18 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral Mass, Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Scarsdale, Friday, September 19 at 10 AM followed by Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

DIAZ, GILBERT J.

Gilbert J. Diaz, a longtime Cortlandt Manor resident, passed away on September 16, 2008. He was born in New York, NY on August 6, 1929, son of Pedro and Celina Vierra Diaz. Gilbert attended St. Peters School in Peekskill. On March 15, 1946, he married Ella Ann Bredel. He served in the US Air Force for 20 years. In 1967 he settled in Peekskill and worked for the Town of Cortlandt. Mr. Diaz is survived by his wife, Ella, five children, Rosemary (William) Frampton, Evelyn (Greg) Pfaff, Robert (Denise) Diaz, JoAnn (Mark) Carbone, Patricia (William) Schneider eleven grandchildren, Judy, Albert, Patrick, Stacy, Jason, Robbie, Eric, Bryan, Kimberly, Christine, Nicole, and six great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 19, 10 AM at Dorsey-Carlone Funeral Home, Peekskill, followed by interment at Hillside Cemetery, Cortlandt Manor. Visiting will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 7-9pm.

FERRIS, MARILYN A.

Marilyn A. Ferris, a life-long resident of White Plains, died at age 79, on September 15, 2008, after a heroic and lengthy battle with Cancer, at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx. Mrs. Ferris was born on August 23, 1929, in White Plains, New York, to Charles A. and Minnie Capone (Udice) of White Plains. She married her beloved husband, John R.Ferris, in 1949 who was also a lifelong resident of White Plains and retired from the White Plains Police in 1969. He died in August of 1997. She was the loving mother of two, John C. Ferris, of White Plains, NY, (Clare) and Robert J. Ferris, of St. Petersburg, Florida (Cindy). She had three siblings, her little sister, Charlotte Kirkwood, of Thornwood, New York, James Capone of Illinois, and Charles A. Capone, of Montauk, New York, who predeceased her in 1997 at age 62. She was the loving and devoted Grandmother of three, James M. Cohn-Ferris, 29, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, (Kathy) Jeremy C. Ferris, 17, of Woodbury, Long Island, New York, and Kimberly E. Ferris, 17, of St. Petersburg, Florida. Her grandchildren were the main focus of her life and she was adored by them. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was beloved by the Mothers of her grandchildren, Cindy Ferris, of St. Petersburg, Florida, Donna Rosen, of Woodbury, Long Island, New York, and Robyn Cohn of St. Petersburg, Florida. She had been employed as a Legal Secretary in White Plains-for approximately 35 years and retired in 1997. She was well known for her professionalism and attention to detail. She was an avid reader of mystery novels, and was devoted to her favorite hobby, gardening. She worked endlessly in her garden, and the amount of work she put into her garden was often noted by her neighbors. She was quite proud of her garden, and never hesitated to exhibit it to her visitors. She was totally devoted to her family, which was her life. She will be missed by all who knew her.
