OLIMPIO, MARY V.

Mary Olimpio, 73, of Yonkers and Eastchester passed away peacefully on August 30th at Westchester Medical Center. She was born in Yonkers on April 21, 1935 to Esterina and John Consilvio. Mary attended Yonkers schools. Upon graduation from Commerce High School, Mary took a job as a secretary with General Motors. She met and later married Anthony Olimpio on April 8, 1956 at St. Ann's Church in Yonkers. After her children were in school Mary was involved with the PTA and then began a career as an aide in PS# 3. She spent over 35 years in the Yonkers Public School System, retiring from Emerson where she was the Principal's Clerk. Mary loved her work and enjoyed baking and her time at the ocean. Most of all she cherished the time she spent cheering on her grandsons at their football and basketball games. She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-laws; Bill and JoAnn of Yonkers, and John and Celia of Pawling, her 4 grandchildren; Daniel, Kenneth, Bionca and Antonia, her sister Millie Minnella of Thornwood, numerous nephews and many dear friends. She was well loved and will be sadly missed by those who knew her. She will rest in peace with her predeceased beloved husband Anthony. Family will receive friends Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Westchester Funeral Home, 190 Main Street, Eastchester. Mass of Christian Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Yonkers.

ROSSI, CARMINE M.

Carmine Mario Rossi, a resident of Mt. Vernon, NY, died on August 30, 2008 at the age of 86. He was born on July 16, 1922 to the late Louise, nee De Paolo and Joseph Rossi. Carmine was a graduate of A.B. Davis High School in Mt. Vernon. Carmine's first business was a men's clothing store in Mt. Vernon. He also worked for the Penn Insurance Company and later owned and managed the Town Tavern in Yonkers and the Circle Lounge in Mt. Vernon. Carmine retired in 1962. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Victory Church in Mt. Vernon and was a past president of the Holy Name Society. Carmine was a people person and everybody loved him. Carmine married Anastasia Maciejewska on October 6, 1946 at St. Casimir's Church in Yonkers. Anastasia passed away earlier this year. Carmine was the brother of the late Philip, Alfred, Carl and Thomas Rossi. He is survived by his devoted brother Joseph T. Rossi of Rye, NY, and many loving nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday morning at Our Lady of Victory Church, Mt. Vernon. AKE, VICTORIA E. SMITHIES

Victoria E. Smithies Ake, of Norwalk, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 in her home, after a courageous one-year battle with lung cancer and metastasis. She was 60 years old. Born in Yonkers, NY on October 2, 1947, she was the daughter of Thelma R.N. Smithies and the late Allan C. Smithies. She moved to Fairfield County, CT in November of 1947 with her family. Raised in Norwalk, CT, she graduated from Norwalk High School in 1965. Vicki worked for IBM of Armonk, NY for the past twenty-five years as a commission analyst for IBM Global Financing Americas, retiring this year, due to her illness. There, she received an unprecedented number of awards for her many achievements. Prior to her career with IBM, Vicki was the Assistant Manager at Ox Ridge Hunt Club in Darien, and a member of the New Canaan Mounted Troup. Horseback riding was a special part of her life since she was three years old. She was a member of the Rombout Hunt Club of NY and an avid supporter of various animal causes. Vicki also enjoyed gardening, sailing, skiing, reading and needlepoint. But most importantly, she loved being with her family and friends. She leaves behind her mother, Thelma R.N. Smithies of Norwalk; her brother, David A. and his wife, Deirdre A. Smithies of Yorktown, NY; her sister, Leslie M.S. Sweet of Wilton, CT; nieces April Harvey of Trumbull, CT, Tara Barrow of Bloomfield, NJ, Erin Baker of Ossining, NY; nephew Kevin Smithies of Manhattan; a grandniece and three grandnephews. Her spirit and memory will live on forever in the hearts of her family and friends. A Memorial Service for Vicki will be held on Thursday September 4, 2008 at 11 AM at St. Paul's Church on the Green, 60 East Avenue, Norwalk. (www.stpaulsnorwalk.org for directions) The Reverend Donna Downs will officiate. Interment will be private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to either The Whittingham Cancer Center at Norwalk Hospital, 24 Stevens Street, Norwalk, Connecticut 06856 or St. Paul's Church on the Green, 60 East Avenue, Norwalk, CT. The family has chosen Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street to assist them in the arrangements.

ALFANO, ALLYSON A.

ALFANO, ALLYSON A., of White Plains, sadly on November 7, 2008 at age 59. Born March 21, 1949 to Joseph & Catherine (Pericone) Fava. Allyson worked in Customer Service for the Telephone Company and also as an assistant for the White Plains Schools. She is the beloved wife of Salvatore Alfano. Cherished mother of Charles Alfano (wife Joann), Salvatore Alfano and Allyson Alfano. Dear sister of Pamela Horvath (husband Edward) and the late Stephanie Fava. AUGONE, MARIE, a Yonkers resident, passed away January 7, 2008 at age 90. Born September 8, 1917 to Salvatore & Angelina Scarlata. Marie worked as a dress maker for E.D. Winter & Co. She was a member of the Bronx Senior Center at St. Benedict’s and also the Johnson Senior Center in Hollywood, Fl. Marie is the beloved wife of Louis Augone. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Louis Augone Jr. (Corine), Charles Augone (Barbara), MaryLou Merola (Anthony), Laura DeLuca Wani, Rosemary Saposnick, Joyce Covelli (Eddie) and Charlene DeAndrea. Also survived by 17 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Marie was the last of six siblings. Visitation Thursday January 10, 2008, 2-4 & 7-9.Funeral Mass Friday 10am St. Gregory the Great RC Church followed by interment at Greenwood Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to Friends of Karen Inc., PO Box 190, Purdys, NY 10578-0190.

BOCHICCHIO, CELESTE, of Mamaroneck, died November 7, 2008 at age 87. Born in New Rochelle on August 5, 1921, to Ralph & Kate Maria Michelle Cordore. Celeste graduated from New Rochelle High School in 1939. For many years she worked as a banker in New Rochelle. On February 17, 1946 she married Daniel J. Bochicchio. He passed away in 1992. Celeste is survived by her devoted son, Daniel Bochicchio of Mamaroneck, many loving cousins and friends including, Jack Farrell & Jean Gray. She is predeceased by her brother, Gerald Cordore. Visitation Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 at COXE & GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME, 767 E. Boston Post Rd, Mamaroneck. 914-698-5968. Funeral Mass Monday 10am at Most Holy Trinity R.C. Church followed by interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
