IANNONE, ALPHONSE

Alphonse Iannone, 76, of Salisbury, VT died Friday July 11, 2008 at his home following a brief illness. Born March 17, 1932 in Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Alphonso Iannone and Angela L. (Cerbone) Iannone. Alphonse was a graduate of Irvington High School and Pennsylvania Military College. He was a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army (where he served proudly) and he served from 1953 through 1955. He was a banker employed by Citi Bank and Barclay Bank P.L.C. in New York City. Following his retirement ten years ago he moved from Tarrytown to Salisbury, VT to live out his dream. He was a member of Transfiguration Church of Tarrytown, a director of Asbury Terrace, a member of the Exchange Club, the founder of T.V.A.C., past president of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers of New York, founder and president of the Mortgage Bankers Association of New York Scholarship Foundation and committee member of the Tarrytown and Greenburgh Republican Party. Family members include his mother, Angela Iannone of Salisbury, VT, one daughter, Diane E. Pearlstein and her husband Max of Southbury, CT; one son, Mark A. Iannone of Greenwich, CT; two grandchildren, Parker A. Pearlstein and Ashley R. Pearlstein both of Southbury, CT; and five cousins; Dominick, Robert, William and Ralph Cerbone and Paula Hartman. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7-9 PM at COFFEY FUNERAL HOME. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM Wednesday at the Transfiguration Church with died suddenly on July 12, 2008 in Beach Haven, NJ. He was 58. Born on July 11, 1950 in New York to the late George and Elvira D'Antonio Jusino. Vincent graduated from Haverstraw High School in 1968. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy as a Yoman stationed in San Diego CA. After his discharge he was reservist in the United States Navy until 1974. Vincent was an Active Duty Sergeant for the Rockland County Sheriffs Correction Division. He was a member of the Haverstraw Elks Club and the Superior Office Council of the Rockland County Sheriff. Survivors include his loving sisters Lenore Rodriguez of Bloomingburg, Elvira and her husband Louis Ferrer of Puerto Rico, and Joanne and her husband John Culligan of Hamden, NY, and numerous nieces and nephews, His children Anthony Vincent, Nicholas Vincent and Amy Elizabeth Jusino. He was predeceased by his parents and his Sister Delores Rucano, and his brother George J. Jusino Jr. Friends may call on Tuesday and Wednesday July 15 & 16th 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at T.J McGowan Sons Funeral Home GARNERVILLE. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday July 17, 2008 at 10:30am at the Funeral Home. Internment to follow with full military honors in F.W Loescher Veterans Cemetery. T.J. MCGOWAN SONS, 71 N. KIERNAN, KATHLEEN THERESA

Kathleen Theresa Kiernan (formerly, Newman, Maffeo) of Congers, NY, passed into God's hands on Friday, July 11, 2008, after a courageous 18-month battle with cancer. Born in Santa Monica, CA, on June 21, 1948, Kathleen was a daughter of the late Alice Packard Kiernan and Edward J. Kiernan. Raised in Albany NY, she was a 1965 graduate of Mercy High School. Kathleen was the original owner of B&K; Jewelers in Valley Cottage. In addition, she worked in the fine jewelry department of Macy's in Nanuet. A longtime employee of the County of Rockland's Personnel Department and Town of Clarkstown Assessor's Office, Kathleen also worked part-time for the Valley Cottage medical offices of Dr. Richard W. King and Dr. Domenic A. Monaco. She was a member of St. Paul's Church in Congers, New York. Soft spoken and gentle, she also had a playful sense of humor. She adored playing with her grandchildren, and her beautiful smile was a gift to whomever it landed on. Kathleen is survived by four children, Bryan Newman and daughter-in-law Joyce Newman of Suffern; Marc Newman of Nyack; Scott Maffeo of Congers; and Christina Maffeo, also of Congers. Two grandchildren, Holly and Tanner Newman of Suffern, also survive her. Also surviving are sisters and brothers, Carol and brother-in-law Anton Klecar of New City; Karen Muller of Belle Mead, NJ; John O'Brien of Ft. Washington, NY; Tim O'Brien and sister-in-law Robin of West Haverstraw; Kevin Kiernan and sister-in-law Melissa of Waldwick, NJ; Keith Kiernan and sister-in-law Mandy of Lancaster, MA; and Edward Kiernan, Jr. and sister-in-law Nancy of Stuyvesant, NY. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Paul and Gina, Kristin, Anton Jr., Sally, Katie, Grace, Zachary, Emma and Carly. She was great-aunt to Antonia and John. She is predeceased by her nephew John J. Muller. Arrangements are being handled by MICHAEL J. HIGGINS FUNERAL SERVICE, 113 Lake Road East, Congers, NY 10920, (845) 634-6110. Family will receive friends on Monday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday 10 AM at St. Paul's Church in Congers. Burial will follow at Gethsemane R.C. Pearl G. Hopkins

Pearl G. Hopkins of 2 Congress Street, Trumansburg passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, January 25, 2003 at the age of 103.
She was born Gladys Pearl Adams in Rio, Illinois on October 11, 1899, the daughter of Edward and Eva (Mount) Adams. A year later she moved with her family to Liberty, Nebraska, then in 1918 to Trumansburg, NY.
A true pioneer whose life spanned three centuries, Pearl embraced each day with enthusiasm. Her devotion to family was unwavering and each member will hold a special place in their hearts remembering sound advice, wonderful home-cooked meals and mouth-watering ginger cookies.
Pearl was the oldest member of the Trumansburg United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her three sisters, Blanche and Florence Adams and Velma Oxley; a brother, Cleo Adams; and her husband, George E. "Ted" Hopkins who died in 1987. Pearl is survived by two daughers, Evelyn (who devoted the past four years to her mother's care at home) (Douglas) Carey of Trumansburg and Carol (Philip) Farnham of New York City; a son, George Robert (Patricia) Hopkins of Angelica, NY; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, Bonnie (Brian) Ouellette of Endicott, NY & Matthew and Holly Price of Port Crane, NY; Ted (Therese) Carey & Christopher of Lisle, NY; Amy Carey (Bob Buford) of Austin, TX; Kristi (Andrew) Thompson & Sawyer and Nolan of Oakland, CA; Anne (Clay) Taylor & Ellie and Hannah of Berkeley, CA; James R. (Tammy) Hopkins of Angelica, NY; Julie (Mark) Neuman & Madison and Jonathan of Monroe, NC; Paul Carey of Charlotte, NC.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Trumansburg United Methodist Church on Sunday, February 9, 2003 at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Deborah Pritts officiating. The family will receive their friends, in the church hall, immediately following the service.
Prayers of Committal at the Grove Cemetery will be scheduled at a later date.
In keeping with Pearl's wishes, no public calling hours have been scheduled.
If desired, expressions of sympathy in Pearl's memory may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Eunice W. Wellin

Eunice W. Wellin of 2960 Darling Road, Interlaken passed away at the Reconstruction Home in Ithaca on Sunday, March 16, 2003 at the age of 85.
Born on November 14, 1917 in the Town of Hector, Eunice was the daughter of Charles and Agnes Kelly Wright. She was a graduate of Trumansburg High School and was a devoted wife to Donald Arthur Wellin until his death on December 18, 1979.
An active member of her community, Eunice held memberships in the Trumansburg United Methodist Church and the Trumansburg Senior Citizens. She also served as a spotter for the Civil Air Defense during WW II.
Eunice could often be found working on a craft project, looking for hummingbirds while tending her garden or watching sports on TV. She also kept busy with scrabble, crossword puzzles and never passed up an opportunity to play cards but all activities stopped if someone produced a scratch-off lottery card, especially "Cash Word", her favorite.
In addition to her husband, Eunice was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Marlene Wellin in 1997; a brother, Clarence Wright and 2 sisters, Marian Lowe and Helen Painter. She is survived by 2 sons, James Alan Wellin of Interlaken and Donald Richard Wellin of Punta Gorda, FL; a daughter, Joline Marie Hendrix of Interlaken; 9 grandchildren, Briana and Ashley Cooper, Stacy Hendrix, Chris and Lynne Preston, Kim Stari , Tanya Tuckerman, Steven Bell and Sean Bollinger and 12 great-grandchildren, Nathan, Hannah, Vicky and Noah Stari, Christy and Kelly Kirkland, Danielle Preston, Kiersten Hendrix, Jenna McDonald and Erica, Meghan and Joseph Tuckerman.
Services will be held at the Trumansburg United Methodist Church on Friday, March 21, 2003 at 1:00 pm with the Rev. Deborah Pritts officiating. Prayers of Committal at the Grove Cemetery will be scheduled at a later date.
The family will be present to receive their friends at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South St., Trumansburg on Thursday from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

Charles Hendry, Sr.

Charles Hendry, Sr. of 344 Halseyville Rd.(Crossroad Farms), Trumansburg passed away at the Cayuga Medical Center on Saturday, March 15, 2003 at the age of 94.
Born in Newtown, New York on May 10, 1908, Charles was the son of Charles and Lillian (Buse) Hendry. Following graduation from the Newtown High School he attended Pratt Institute in New York City. As a result of his architectural expertise, Charles had served as an analyst for the U.S. Navy in Washington, DC. for a short time.
While employed by the Wolfe & Hahn Architects in Allentown, PA he helped build many schools and roads in North-East Pennsylvania. After moving to Trumansburg Charles served as "Clerk-of-the-Works" for the architectural firm of Tallman & Tallman in Ithaca.
Horses were an important part of his life as was evidenced by his membership in the Palomino Breeders Assn., recognized as a Horse Show Judge for the AHSA, was one of the founders of the 4-H Horse & Pony Club in Monroe County, PA and was the founder of the N.E. Pennsylvania Horse Show Assn. A true humanitarian, Charles was always eager to assist anyone in need. He especially enjoyed working with children and animals.
Charles was also a member of the Mitpah Lodge #738 F & AM.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Alice McCann in 1968, a brother, Malcolm in 1977 and his devoted wife of 53 years, Esther on February 25, 2000. Charles is survived by a son, Charles Hendry, Jr. (Susan Wheeler) of Trumansburg; a daughter, Heather I. (Robert) Lang of Stanton, NJ; 4 grandchildren, Charles Joseph, Shelly, Randall and Bryce; 2 great-grandchildren, Stephanie and Alex and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held at Crossroad Farms, 344 Halseyville Rd., Trumansburg on Tuesday, March 18, 2003 at 6:30 pm.
