Eunice Larsen
Homemaker, 81

Eunice Larsen of Jeffersonville died Tuesday, August 5, 2003, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 81 years of age.
The daughter of the late James and Edna O'Hare McGee, she was born March 18, 1922, in North Bergen, N.J. She was the widow of Frederick B. Larsen.
Mrs. Larsen is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Patricia Larsen of Washington Township, N.J., and Richard and Betty Larsen of Great Meadows, N.J.; a brother, John "Bud" McGee of the state of Washington; and six grandchildren, Kathy, Robert, Michael, Andy, Brian and Donna.
Cremation was made at the Twin Tiers Crematory in Endicott.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville.

Barbara Thompson
Photographer, 49

Barbara B. Thompson of Swan Lake, a talented photographer and retailer of commercial arts, and an eight-year area resident, died Friday, August 1, 2003, at her home. She was 49 years of age.
The daughter of Odette Magrone Thompson and the late David Thompson, she was born May 28, 1954, in Pittsburgh, Pa.
She is survived by her mother; three sisters, Linda Thompson and Cynthia Thompson, both of New York City, and Miriam Thompson of Traverse City, Mich; and two aunts, Jeanne Felmly of New York City and Chiara Gerding of Michigan.
Services and burial were held in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Orange-Sullivan Hospice, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, N.Y. 12550.
Local arrangements were made by the Harris Funeral Home in Liberty.

Wayne D. Wells
Mech. Engr., 67

Wayne Douglas Wells of West End, N.C., died at his home on Saturday, August 2, 2003, after a long and courageous fight with cancer. He was 67 years of age.
The son of the late Earl and Ada Wells, he was born August 18, 1935, in Callicoon.
He completed the machinist apprentice course at General Electric in 1956. Mr. Wells received a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Union College in Schenectady in 1960 and was employed at General Electric for 10 years. He retired in 1991 from IBM, after 25 years of service during which time he was a manager in Research Triangle Park, N.C. Since his retirement, he enjoyed woodworking and landscaping.
Mr. Wells is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joan Ann Wells, at home; two daughters, Terry Wells Baker of Raleigh, N.C., and Diane Wells Pace of Cary, N.C.; two sisters, Norma Aaron of West End, N.C., and Berniece Haas of Eldred; a brother, George Wells of Cookeville, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Benjamin William Baker and Christine Nicole Baker, both of Raleigh, N.C., and Samantha Elise Pace, Brandon Scott Pace and Jenna Nicole Pace, all of Cary, N. C.; and many other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by a son, Glenn Douglas Wells, and a sister, Dorothy Wells.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Seven Lakes Chapel in the Pines with the Rev. Cecil Callis officiating

Gerald A. Chopko, 71
Ret. NY Tel Installer

Gerald A. Chopko of Bloomingburg, a 40-year area resident and a retired telephone installer for the New York Telephone in Newburgh, died Monday, August 4, 2003, at the Horton Campus of the Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. He was 71 years of age.
The son of the late Nicholas and Stella Malski Chopko, he was born June 19, 1932, in Throop, Pa.
Mr. Chopko was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1950 to 1955.
He is survived by his wife, Melinda Norwood Chopko, at home; three children and their spouses, Wendy and Andrew Laidlaw of Bloomingburg, Christopher and Lynnette Chopko of Aurora, Colo., and Nancy and John Wolbeck of Wolf Lake; a sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Roger Tessier of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; and five grandchildren, Andrew, Wolf, Cameron, Tavish and Max.
A Service of Remembrance was held Thursday at the Applebee McPhillips Funeral Home in Middletown with Fr. Patrick McGuigan officiating.
Cremation was private.
Memorial contributions may be made to Greenpeace, P.O. Box 7939, Fredericksburg, Va. 22404-9917.

Beverley D. Porter
Clerk, 56

Beverley D. Porter of Liberty, a clerk, formerly of Livingston Manor, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2007 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. She was 56.
The daughter of Robert and Evelyn A. Sprague Simpson, she was born October 11, 1950 in Livingston Manor.
Beverly loved arts and crafts, board games, friends and family. She loved people and was a caring and loving person.
Survivors include her parents of Livingston Manor; two sisters, Darlene Smith of Livingston Manor and Cheryl Wilbur and her husband Robert of White Sulpher Springs; one brother, Dane Simpson and his wife Judy of Livingston Manor; a niece, Barbara Smith; a nephew, Robert Wilbur Jr.; and many cousins.
She was predeceased by both her maternal and paternal grandparents and two uncles, Theran Sprague and Keith Buck.
Friends may call Tuesday, January 16, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Herbert C. Bryant Funeral Home, 29 Pearl Street, Livingston Manor.
Funeral servicess will be held Wednesday, January 17 at 1 p.m. at the Funeral Home. The Rev. Bridgette LeConey will officiate.
Interment will be made in the spring in Cooks Falls Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Donald L. Smith Sr.
Ret. Heavy Equip. Operator, 76

Donald L. Smith Sr. of Bloomingburg entered into eternal rest Friday, January 12, 2007 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Horton Campus, surrounded with love and his family by his side. Dutch was quite the prankster, and will be sadly missed by all. Dutch always had a smile on his face, and a kind word for everyone. He was 76.
The son of James Smith and Mitilda Reid Smith, he was born Thursday, July 3, 1930 in Goshen. He was married to Ida Pulos Smith for 50 years.
"To know Dutch was surely to love him." He proudly served his country and was a veteran of WWII, and also served in the Korean War. He was a member of the Middletown VFW. Dutch was a very devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather as well as to his extended family and many friends. After retiring from the Town of Wallkill Highway Department as a Heavy Equipment Operator; he spent all his time with his family and friends, he was an avid stock car race fan and loved working on them with his sons and watching them race in Accord and and Orange County Speedway. "My father was the strongest, bravest, kindest man I have ever known."
He is survived by his wife, Ida Smith at home; two sons, James Smith and wife Penny of Mechanicstown and Donald L. Smith and wife Sharon of Middletown; two daughters, Lydia M. Horton and husband Les, and Marjie L. Schultz and husband Wesley, all of Bloomingburg; two brothers, James Smith of New Mexico and William Smith and wife Elma of Mechanicstown; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Roland Smith; a sister, Hazel Bohm and a sister-in-law, Sally Smith.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 16 at Donovan Funeral Home, 82 South Church Street, Goshen.
Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Pastor Robert Hewitt will officiate.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.

Loretta Korth
Homemaker, 86

Loretta Korth, a homemaker, of Callicoon Center died on Monday, January 15, 2007 at Ellen Memorial Health Care Center in Honesdale, Pa. She was 86.
The daughter of the late James and Mildred Sprague Lyden, she was born February 7, 1920 in Livingston Manor.
She was a member of the Callicoon Center Reformed Church.
Survivors include her son, William Korth; and her brother, Paul Lyden. She was predeceased by her husband, Howard Korth.
Graveside services will be at the Callicoon Center Cemetery on Wednesday, January 17 at 1 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ellen Memorial Health Care Center, Golf Road, Honesdale, PA 18431.

Keith J. McElroy
Plumber, 54

Keith J. McElroy of Liberty, formerly of Salisbury Mills, died January 9, 2007 in Liberty. He was 54.
The son of John Joseph McElroy and Anne Pash McElroy, he was born September 6, 1952 in Brooklyn.
Keith was a plumber by trade.
Survivors include his loving companion (his perfect fit), Linda Blake-Steiger of Jeffersonville; one daughter, Jordan Knezevich and her husband, Aaron of New Mexico; brothers, Gregory McElroy and his wife, Cait of New Paltz, Kevin McElroy and his wife, Beth of Campbell Hall, Kenneth McElroy and his wife, Josephine of Rock Tavern; one grandson, Eliah Knezevich of New Mexico; sister-in-law, Laurel McElroy of Mountainville; 12 nieces and nephews; and his cat, "Little Mac."
Funeral services were held Saturday evening at the Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, Cornwall-on-Hudson. Cremation was made at Cedar Hill Crematory, Newburgh.

Francisca Giblin
Homemaker, 71

Francisca “Julie” Giblin of Wurtsboro, entered into rest Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at Park Manor Rehabilitation in Middletown. She was 71.
The daughter of the late Bienvinito and Julia Martinez, she was born on January 14, 1935 in Madrid, Spain. She married the love of her life, Charles Giblin, on September 4 in Massapequa.
In addition to her loving husband, Charlie, survivors include her sister, Incarnita and her husband, Frederico; her niece, Patricia Martinez and her husband, Carlos; and her nephew, Caesar Alonzo.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Monday, January 15 at St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls. Cremation followed.
