William Schnoor Sr.
Ret. Proj. Mgr., 69

William J. Schnoor Sr. of Milford, Pa., a retired project manager for Western Union in Upper Saddle River, N.J., died Friday, January 28, 2005, at his home. he was 69 years of age.
The son of the late Rudolph and Rose Yurasitis Schnoor, he was born May 23, 1935, in Williamsburg, N.Y.
Mr. Schnoor was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Gail McPartland Schnoor, at home; three children, Pat Woodruff and her husband, Mike, and their daughter, Hailey of Wallkill, Bill Schnoor and his wife, Pat, and their children, Billy, B.J. and Casey of Port Jervis, Diane Peters and her husband, Curt, of Bloomingburg and their children, Jackie, Curtis, Russell and Beth McGrath and her husband, Chris, and their daughter, Klarissa; a brother, Rudy Schnoor of Hudson, Fla., and a sister, Rosemary Schnoor of San Mateo, Calif.
Friends may call at the Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 West Harford St., Milford Pa., on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Services will be held on Tuesday at 8 p.m. with the Rev. David Repenning officiating.
Private interment will be made in the Milford Cemetery in Dingman Township, Pa.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice St. John, 1007 Oak St., Pittston Township, Pa. 18640.

Linda Hillriegel
Homemaker, 63

Linda Lewis Hillriegel, a homemaker and former resident of Callicoon, died Sunday, January 30, 2005 at the Willow Point Nursing Home in Vestal where she has resided for many years. She was 63 years of age.
The daughter of Roberta B. Guthrie Lewis and the late Kenneth C. Lewis, she was born August 25, 1941, in Port Jervis.
A graduate of Delaware Valley Central School, she was a receptionist for Dr. Hamre's office prior to her illness.
She is survived by her mother of Boothbay Harbor, Maine; a brother, Robert K. Lewis of Windsor; two sisters, Carolyn B. Moore of Boothbay Harbor, Maine, and Jan M. Lewis of Liberty; a daughter, Robin Parse of Austin, Tex.; three sons, James Hillriegel of Walled Lake, Mich., Kenneth Hillriegel of Jeffersonville and Keith Hillriegel of Tomah, Wisc.; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Callicoon on Tuesday from 1 to 4 p.m.
Services will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jack Polin officiating.
Burial will be made in the Rural Valley Cemetery in Cuddebackville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Muscular Sclerosis Foundation.

Michail Dmyterko
Ret. From Trust Co., 81

Michail Dmyterko of Glen Spey, a retired employee of Morgan Guarantee Trust Co. in New York City, died Monday, January 24, 2005, at the Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis. He was 81 years of age.
The son of the late Stefan and Anastasia Kochan Dmyterko, he was born May 8, 1923, in Ukraine.
Mr. Dmyterko was a member of Holy Cross Greek Catholic Church in Astoria.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years Sophia Makar Dmyterko, at home; a son, Alex Dmyterko, and his daughter, Olivia Dmyterko, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; and a sister-in-law, Maria Shulha and her husband, Michael, of Whitehouse Station, N.J.
Services were held Wednesday at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home in Port Jervis.
Burial was made in the Glen Spey Cemetery.

Helen K. Mudry, 79
Ret. Telephone Oper.

Helen Kurpil Mudry of Fairfield, Conn., a telephone operator in Liberty and Connecticut, died Sunday, December 26, 2004, in Fairfield. She was 79 yeas of age.
The daughter of the late John and Mary Kurpil, she was born October 20, 1925, in Parksville, one of 12 children.
She attended Delhi College.
She is survived by her husband, Matthew Mudry, at home; four children, Matthew Mudry of Golden, Colo., Thomas Mudry and Michael Mudry, both of Goshen, Conn., and Susan Mudry of Sandy Hook, Conn.; seven grandchildren, Nicole, Jason, Sonja, Thomas, Samantha, Rebecca and Sara; four brothers, Steve Kurpil of Ft. Pierce, Fla., Sam and Andrew Kurpil, both of Liberty, and Peter Kurpil of Parksville; four sisters, Katy Somesla of Fairfield, Conn., Anne Vuono of Liberty, Eva Sasnowitz of Raleigh, N.C., and Josephine DeVoe of Livingston Manor; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Nickolas and Charles Kurpil, and a sister, Rose Brown.
Services and burial were private.

Adelaide C. Roddis
Ret. Waitress, 89

Adelaide C. Roddis of Liberty, a 53-year area resident and a retired waitress at the former Corey's Restaurant and former Singer's Restaurant, both in Liberty, died Saturday, January 29, 2005, at the Achieve Rehab and Nursing Facility in Liberty. She was 89 years of age.
The daughter of the late Walter and Mamie L. LaRosa Donovan, she was born October 25, 1915, in Brooklyn.
She is survived by her husband, Albert Roddis, of Liberty; two daughters and sons-in-law, Audrey and Grant Belton of Leesburg, Fla., and Charlotte Tinker Bullock and her husband, John, of Loch Sheldrake; a sister Pearl Degnan of Cleveland, Ohio; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sisters, Charlotte Huggins and Lorraine Dorn.
Friends may call at the Ramsay's Funeral Home, 275 S. Main St., Liberty, on Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m.
Memorial services will be held at the funeral home at 5:30 p.m. on Friday with the Rev. Kenneth Rodgers officiating.
Cremation will be made at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Loch Sheldrake Fire Dept., P.O. Box 292, Loch Sheldrake, N.Y. 12759.

Daniel K. Lock
Millwright, 56

Daniel K. Lock of Quarryville, Pa., a former resident of Eldred and a millwright for Greiner Industries for 14 years, died unexpectedly on Friday, January 21, 2005, at his home. He was 56 years of age.
The son of Dorothy Clarke Lock and the late Milton Lock, he was born in New York.
Mr. Lock was a Vietnam War veteran, serving with the United States Marine Corps.
He is survived by his mother; five children, Michael Lock of Albany, Daniel Lock of Millrift, Pa., Shawn Lock of New Providence, Pa., Jessica Groff of Quarryville, Pa., and Kelly Lock of New Providence, Pa.; five grandchildren; and a brother, Gregory Lock of Ft. Mills, SC.
Services were held January 24, followed by burial in the Quarryville Cemetery.

Joan C. Balzano
Homemaker, 68

Joan C. Balzano of Monticello, a homemaker and a resident of the area since 1990, died Tuesday, February 1, 2005, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 68 years of age.
The daughter of the late Edward J. and Marie Tormey McVeety, she was born May 23, 1938 in Brooklyn.
Mrs, Balzano was a member of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church of Monticello.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Darlene Balzano of Long Island and Joseph and Theresa Balzano of Harris; a sister and brother-in-law, Laurie and John Hawkins of Idaho; and five grandchildren Joseph, Jordan, Stephanie, Aleah and Kassey. A grandson, Justin Balzano, predeceased her.
A Memorial Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Peter's Church, Monticello, with the Rev. Robert Ginel officiating.
Cremation was made at the Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Ramsay's Funeral Home in Monticello.

Irving L. Dunn
Ret. ShortLine Driver

Irving "Butch" L. Dunn of Lake Ariel, Pa., a former resident of Woodridge and a retired bus driver for the ShortLine Bus Company, died Sunday, January 30, 2005, at the Mt. Rest Nursing Home in Scranton, Pa.
The son of Emma Yaple Dunn and the late Irving Dunn, he was born in Monticello.
Mr. Dunn was a graduate of the Fallsburg Central School. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
In a family statement, it was said, "He loved baseball, stock car racing and all sports. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends."
He is survived by his mother of Lake Ariel, Pa.; three brothers, Ross Dunn of Livingston Manor, Richard Dunn of Summerfield, Fla., and William Dunn of Belleview, Fla.; two sisters, Betty Kellogg of Lake Ariel, Pa., and Lillian Porter of Mountaindale; several nieces and nephews; and several grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday at the James Wilson Funeral Home, Route 296 Gravity Rd., Lake Ariel.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wayne Memorial Hospital Health Foundation, 601 Park St., Honesdale, Pa. 18431.

James R. Farrell, 78
Ret. From Ins./Realty

James R. Farrell of Livingston Manor, recently retired from Farrell Insurance and Sullivan County Realty, died Monday, January 31, 2005, at his home. He was 78 years of age.
The son of the late Charles J. and Marie O'Hern Farrell, he was born August 22, 1926, in Syracuse.
A graduate of Manlius Academy, where he was a star athlete, he served during World War II with the U.S. Army as part of the Japan occupation force. He then attended Cornell University where he was captain of the baseball team and a two-way starter for the nationally-ranked, undefeated 1948 football team. He graduated from Cornell in 1950.
Mr. Farrell was active in many civic organizations, including serving as a founder of the Livingston Manor Little League. In 2004, he was honored by the Livingston Manor Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club for his many years of contributions to the growth and business development of the hamlet.
In a family statement, it was said, "James was a great husband, father and friend who was known for his sense of humor and his zest for life. He invested his energy in his family and took pride in their accomplishments while never taking credit for the sacrifices he made to help those he loved."
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Vera Johnston Farrell, at home; five children, Ann Farrell Diemer and her husband, Dennis, of Lafayette, Calif., Mary H.J. Farrell of Sleepy Hollow, James J. Farrell and his wife, Catherine, of Orinda, Calif., Thomas C. Farrell and his wife, Kristy, of Newport Beach, Calif., and Jack Farrell and his wife, Kari, of Calabasas, Calif.; and 11 grandchildren.
There will be no visitation.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. on Friday at St. Aloysius Church, Church St., Livingston Manor, with Father William Collins officiating, followed by a reception.
Burial will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Livingston Manor Free Library, 92 Main St., Livingston Manor, N.Y. 12758.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Herbert C. Bryant Funeral Home in Livingston Manor.
