Adam Sawchuk
Ret. Corr. Officer, 80

Adam “Eddie” Sawchuk of Tempe, Arizona, passed away on Friday, April 28, 2006. He was 80.
He was born September 7, 1925 in Brooklyn.
Mr. Sawchuk served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, later retiring from the Navy Reserves. He moved to Woodbourne in 1963 and worked for many years as a corrections officer, predominantly at the Woodbourne Correctional Facility.
Following the death of his wife Joan in 1990, Eddie moved to Arizona to be near his daughter and family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by his daughter, Laura Lehan, an Arizona attorney, and a granddaughter, Joan Lehan of Tempe.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 6 at noon at the Grahamsville Cemetery.
Arrangements are with Colonial Memorial Funeral Home in Woodbourne.

Margaret Washington
Town Clerk, 86

Margaret T. Washington of Monticello, a former Town Clerk for the Town of Thompson and a lifelong resident of the area, died Saturday, May 6, 2006 at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 86 years of age.
The daughter of the late Edward J. Lane and Anastasia McGuire Lane, she was born November 30, 1919 in Middletown.
She also worked for Bill Rieber with the Credit Bureau of Monticello, and was a proprietor of Washington’s Liquor Store. She was a member of St. Peter’s Church in Monticello, a past member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Monticello Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by two sons, Robert Washington and his wife, Peggy, of Liberty and Joseph Washington and his wife, Fran, of Mongaup Valley; a daughter, Anastasia Robisch and her husband, John, of Longmont, Colo.; a brother, William Lane and his wife, Carol, of Monticello; a sister, Patricia Taylor of Boulder, Colo.; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Washington of Monticello; ten grandchildren, Eddie, Colleen, Anastasia, Billy, Amy, Timmy, Vinny, Kathleen, Blake and Thomas; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
In addition to her husband, Ambrose “Slim” Washington, she was predeceased by a son, John Washington and a sister, Regina O’Neill.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 9 at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 10 at St. Peter’s Church, Broadway and Liberty Street, Monticello with Rev. Robert Ginel officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Monticello.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home.

Robert J. Worner
Machinist, 55

Robert J. Worner of Bloomingburg, formerly a machinist with Interstate Packing in Walden and a 22-year resident of the area, died Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at ORMC, Horton Campus, Middletown. He was 55 years of age.
The son of Joseph H. and Marjorie M. Leutholt Worner, he was born November 21, 1950 in Suffern.
He was a graduate of Spring Valley High School.
Survivors include four sons, Robert Worner, Lawrence Worner, Joseph Worner of Bloomingburg and Troy Worner of Middletown; a daughter, Ilona Lee; a sister, Maureen D. Pallone of Bloomingburg; several grandchildren with one expected in July; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and an uncle.
He was predeceased by his parents.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 6 at the Dodd & Connell Funeral Home in Middletown.
Burial was made in Airmont Lutheran Cemetery in Suffern.

Frank Congiolosi, 89

Frank “Frankie” J. Congiolosi, a lifelong resident of Rock Hill, died Saturday, May 6, 2006 at home with his family by his side. He was 89 years of age.
The second of four children born to Vincenzio and Margarite Mongano Congiolosi, he was born January 1, 1917 in New York City.
He married Helen Kunz October 12, 1941 in Port Jervis.
A veteran of WWII, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Otisville American Legion as well as the Otisville Fire Department. He also assisted in the coordination of purchasing the first ambulance from Florida for the Village of Otisville.
Family gatherings were an important part of Frank’s life. He loved people and was genuinely content with his life.
He is survived by his loving wife, Helen, at home; two daughters, Stephanie “Tuffy” Muer and her husband Joe of New Hampton, and Barbara Toth and her husband Andrew of Saratoga Springs; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a son-in-law, Anthony “Skip” Coppola of Otisville; and one sister, Rose Grosso of Florida. He was predeceased by a daughter, Beverly Coppola on May 8, 2002.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, May 9 at 11 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus R.C. Church in Otisville. Monsignor Peter Tran Van Phat will officiate.
Burial will follow in the family plot in Holy Name of Jesus Cemetery, Otisville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, Inc., 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
Arrangements are under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. in Middletown.

Frieda K. Rapp
Homemaker, 89

Frieda K. Rapp, a homemaker and longtime resident of Monticello, died Thursday, May 4, 2006 at St. Camillus Health & Rehabilitation Center in Syracuse. She was 89 years of age.
The daughter of Carl Keller and Anna Buehler Keller, she was born May 15, 1916 in Hoboken, N.J.
She was the widow of Walter W. Rapp who predeceased her on December 20, 1985.
Frieda attended the Rock Hill Church of the Nazarene; was a member of the New York State Grange and Monticello Grange; Tri-States Dog Obedience Club; and a charter member of the Monticello Kennel Club. She was also the bookkeeper for Maplehorst Farms in Monticello.
She is survived by a son, John Rapp of Monticello; two daughters, Holly Cornell of Camillus and Frieda Steinjann of Ormond Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren, John, Karen, Brian and James; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Rock Hill Church of the Nazarene in Rock Hill with Rev. Roy Shaffer officiating. Burial was made in Harris Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Camillus Foundation, 813 Fay Road, Syracuse, NY 13219.
Arrangements are under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home of Monticello.

Thomas O’Toole
Ret. Furn. Finisher, 83

Thomas Joseph O’Toole of White Sulphur Springs, a retired furniture finisher and a 35-year area resident, died Sunday, May 7, 2006 at the Elant Nursing Home in Goshen. He was 83.
The son of John and Mary Ellen Ruane O’Toole, he was born January 3, 1923 in Manhattan.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in WWII. He was a communicant of St. Francis R.C. Church in Youngsville.
Survivors include his wife Clara Dougherty O’Toole at home; two sons, John O’Toole and his wife Joan of White Sulphur Springs, and Thomas O’Toole Jr. and his wife Christine of Monroe; five grandchildren, Colleen O’Toole-Barber and her husband Michael of Cochecton, Thomas O’Toole and his wife Jennifer of Ithaca, Erin O’Toole of Baltimore, Md., and Thomas O’Toole and Kelly O’Toole, both of Monroe; and three great-grandchildren, Chloe Barber, Ellie and Kyra O’Toole.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, May 9 at Harris Funeral Home, West Street at Buckley in Liberty.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 10 at St. Francis R.C. Church, Route 52, Youngsville with Rev. Ignatius Vu officiating. Burial will be made in the Calvary Cemetery, Youngsville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Francis R.C. Church, Route 52, Youngsville, NY 12791.

Raymond Storms
Plant Worker, 60

Raymond M. Storms died Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, following a long illness. He was 60 years of age.
The son of Francis and Madeline Storms, he was born October 2, 1945 in Unionville, where he was raised, and resided in Bloomingburg for the last 31 years.
Mr. Storms worked for Delford Rubber Plant in Middletown for 30 years.
He is survived by two sons, Scott and Raymond Storms of Bloomingburg; two brothers, Robert Storms of Arizona and Bruce Storms of Unionville; a sister, Linda Storms of Millsrift, Pa.; and his loving and caring friend, Judith Eidukot.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 6 at Ferguson Funeral Home, Inc., Sussex, N.J.
Interment was made in Unionville Cemetery, Unionville.

Gail Beemer, 48

Gail Beemer of Lake Huntington, a six-year resident of the area, died Sunday, May 7, 2006 at her home. She was 48 years of age.
The daughter of Rose Wincek Beemer and the late Lawrence Beemer, she was born February 5, 1958 in Sussex, N.J.
She is survived by her mother, of Newton, N.J.; two children, Heather Draughon and Robert W. Draughon III, both of Newton, N.J.; four grandchildren, Joel and Julianna De Larosa and Dimarius and Dazia Posey.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Cremation will be made at Twin Tiers Crematory, Endicott.

Walter E. Lare
Ret. Electrician, 75

Walter E. Lare Sr. of Chittenango died Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at his home. He was 75 years of age.
Born in New York City, he graduated from Youngsville Central School.
He served in the Army during the Korean War. Walter was an electrician with IBEW Local #363, retiring in 1996.
Survivors include his wife, Arlene; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Walter E. Lare Jr. and his wife Valerie of Chittenango, and Matthew J. Lare of Ocala, Fla.; a daughter, Darlene A. Gibson of Cocoa, Fla.; a brother, Donald Lare and his wife Eleanor of Kohlertown; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to The American Heart Association, 5575 Thompson Rd., DeWitt, NY 13214.
