HAYES - 60TH

Melvin and Marjorie Hayes of Horseheads, New York marked their 60th wedding anniversary on November 23, 2004. Mr. Melvin E. Hayes and the former Marjorie L. Cowan were married November 23, 1944 by the Rev. Earl Robertson at the Methodist Parsonage in Horseheads, New York. The couple has nine children. They are Bonnie of Boca Raton, Florida; Dennis of Dundee, New York; Judy of Corning, New York; Chester of Horseheads, New York; Keith of Elmira Heights, New York; Sheldon of Catherine, New York; Brian of Horseheads, New York; David of Rochester, New York; and Daniel of Horseheads, New York. The couple has twenty-three grandchildren and twelve great- grandchildren. Mr. Hayes was self-employed and has been retired for 23 years and Mrs. Hayes was busy being a wife and mother of nine children. Mel's hobbies and passion are golf and antique and classic cars. Marjorie's hobbies are crosswords, reading, puzzles and her family. Marge and Mel continue today as they always have, committed to each other and in love. They have instilled family values in all their children. They have been kind and caring with a positive influence for both family and friends. Bonnie's husband, Charlie, says that he has never seen a family that gets along so well and has a genuine caring and loving spirit. This all goes back to the roots of the family tree - Marge and Mel Hayes - 60 years and still going!
