Ralph A. Maselli Jr.
Ralph A. Maselli Jr., 57, Galena, died at home Sunday (Sept. 19, 1999).
He was born Aug. 29, 1942, in Columbus to the late Ralph A. Maselli Sr. and Julia A. (Miller) Maselli, who survives in Hilliard.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and owner of Sun Siding & RAM Builders.
He is also survived by his wife, Teri; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, JoAnn Dolby, Columbus, Dianne and Dr. Jospeh Woods, Powell, and Sheryl and Roy Twidt, Keller, Texas; his father- and mother-in-law, Walt and Pat Reed, Galena; a special cousin; one nephew; five nieces; and many longtime friends from South High School Class of 1960.
Calling hours were at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home. Funeral services were at New Hope United Methodist Church with the Rev. Stacy Evans officiating.
Contributions may be made to New Hope UMC, 5520 Harlem Road, Galena 43021.

Florence Masters
Florence Masters Patterson, 87, Bainbridge, formerly of Hilliard, died March 14, 1999.
She taught senior English and junior high home economics at Big Walnut. She was a member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association and Bainbridge United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a son William Masters, Bainbridge; two stepsons and one step daughter-in-law, Dr. John and Karen Patterson, Chillicothe, and James Patterson, Greenville; and one sister Lorene Lindsay, Columbus.
She was preceded in death by husbands Jacob Masters in 1975 and James Patterson in 1989.
Memorial services were held March 24 in Bainbridge. A memorial contribution may be made to the Big Walnut Education Foundation in care of Carolyn Roach, Big Walnut High School, 555 South Old 3C, Sunbury 43074.

Dana Matthews
Dana E. "Betty" Matthews, 93, Sunbury, died Thursday afternoon (July 8, 1999) at the Extended Care Unit of Morrow County Hospital.
She was born in Williamsport, Pickaway County, on Dec. 2, 1905, to the late Eugene and Cora (Furnace) DeLay. She had lived the past 10 years in the Village at Westerville Retirement Center.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Carolyn Matthews, Marengo; a daughter and son-in-law, Dona and Billy Timmerman, O'Fallen, Mo.; one sister, Dora Lisska, Roswell, Ga.; and six grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd E. Matthews, on July 19, 1987; a brother, Charles DeLay; and a sister, Vera Howard.
Calling hours were at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury where funeral services were held. Burial was at Sunbury Memorial Park.

Glorien Matthews
Glorien Matthews, 62, Marengo, died Monday (Oct. 18, 1999) at Morrow County Hospital.
She was born in Reynoldsburg to the late Ray and Edna (Scarberry) Peterman. She worked as a cook at the Gathering Inn and had lived in Marengo for the past 30 years, moving from Columbus.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, John and Brenda Matthews Jr., Edison, and Norman and Violet Weber Jr. and Michael and Jackie Weber, all of Marengo; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Tanya and Vern Jordan, Marengo, Teri and Dave Ferris, Pataskala, Lisa Matthews, Marengo, Jackie and Greg Diamond, Marengo, and Tina Matthews, Chesterville; one brother, Donald Peterman, Pataskala; one sister, Ethel Keyhole of Florida; and 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Matthews Sr. on April 16, 1998; and a brother, Bud Peterman.
Calling hours were at DeVore Snyder Funeral Home, Marengo. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home with Jay Weaver, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in Marengo Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

John D. Matthews, Sr.
John D. Matthews Sr., 73, of Marengo, died Thursday (April 16, 1998) at his home.
He was born Dec. 23, 1924 in Worthington to the late Cecil and Kathleen (Dixon) Matthews. He was a Marengo resident for 31 years, and was known by his CB call name, "Cigar King." Mr. Matthews was a World War II Army veteran and was awarded the Purple Heart. He worked as a laborer for various companies. He also was a member of American Legion Post No. 710 of Marengo.
Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Glorien (Peterman) Matthews; sons and daughters-in-law John Jr. and Brenda Matthews of Edison, Norman Jr. and Violet Weber, and Michael and Jackie Weber, of Marengo; daughters and sons-in-law Teri and Dave Ferris of Pataskala, Lisa Matthews, Jackie and Greg Diamond, and Tanya and Vern Jordan of Marengo, and Tina Matthews of Chesterville; 20 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother Richard Matthews of Grove City; and sisters May Peterman of Columbus and Norma Jean Peterman of Pataskala.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Marengo, with the Rev. Jay Weaver officiating. Interment, with military honors provided by the American Legion Post No. 710 honor guard, was in Marengo Cemetery.

Robert Mauger
Robert E. Mauger, 73, of Marengo, died Friday (June 16, 2000) at St. Ann's Hospital, Westerville.
He was born on June 8, 1927, in Kirkersville to the late Neil and Minerva (Kummer) Mauger. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and moved to Marengo 15 years ago from Plain City. He was a retired grinder from the Peerless Saw Company, Columbus, and was a member of the American Legion Post No. 710, Marengo.
He is survived by Wilma Browning, who he made his home with for the past 15 years; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Jill Mauger of South Dennis, N.J.; a daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Tom Crawford of Galena; three grandchildren; a sister Louise Wilson of Reynoldsburg; and Wilma's children, Willie, Joe, and Danny Browning, Linda Hart and Virgie Denty.
Visitation was held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Marengo. Graveside services followed with military honors in the Kirkersville Cemetery with the Rev. Okie Evans officiating.

Ricky A. May
Ricky A. May, 42, of Sunbury died early Monday morning (June 15, 1998) at his home, following a six-month illness.
He was born on Aug. 12, 1955, in Williamson, W.Va., to Freeman and Carolina (Politino) May of Plain City. A graduate of Brookhaven High School's Class of 1973, he received a bachelor of arts from Columbia University. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, where he was a weather forecaster, and the Ohio Air National Guard. He was a captain in the 164th Weather Flight Group at Rickenbacker Air Force Base for the past 12 years.
A computer systems analyst for Nationwide Insurance, he was worked for BankOne for five years, and Community Blue Cross/Blue Shield for 12 years. He was a member of Delaware Grace Brethren Church, the Centerburg Conservation Club, and the Wyandot Archers, and was the team manager for Blast Soccer Club as well as a youth mentor for TICO. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and refereeing youth soccer games for the Big Walnut and MOSSL soccer leagues.
Surviving are his loving wife of 22 years, Kristine (Durbin) May; a son, Aaron, and a daughter, Hilary; his parents; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Cynthia and Steve McDonald and Rita "Dee" and Kent Anders of Plain City; a grandmother, Minnie Politino of Chattaroy, W.Va.; and his mother-in-law, Mary Jo Durbin of Dover.
Visitation was held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home. Funeral services were at Delaware Grace Brethren Church and were officiated by the Rev. Jeffrey A. Gill and Mr. Richard Church. Interment, with military honors, followed in the Sunbury Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Brethren International Missions, c/o Delaware Grace Brethren Church, 375 Hills-Miller Rd., Delaware.

Mary McCarty
Mary Alice McCarty, 87, Marengo, died Sunday (May 27, 2001) at Riverside Hospital.
She was born on April 15, 1914, in Morrow County to the late Chauncey and Loetta (Wise) Babcock. A lifelong area resident, she spent 19 winters in Ruskin, Florida, with her husband. Mary Alice had been a deputy registrar of Morrow County, a school bus driver for Marengo Schools, clerk for the Marengo Hardware and Grocery Store, a waitress and cook for the Porter's and Leaf restaurants and was a cashier for Topps Department Store in Ruskin.
McCarty was a member of Marengo United Methodist Church, the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post No. 710 and Centerburg AmVets Post No. 59, Pythian Sisters No. 501, Golden Twigg of Morrow County Hospital and the Columbia Chapter No. 33 OES. She enjoyed bingo, flowers, playing cards, jokes, having fun and helping others.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Vivian A. and Thomas
Matthews of Marengo; four sons and daughters-in-law, Robert L. and Grace McCarty of Marengo, Ben and Bonnie McCarty of New Carlisle, Kenneth N. and Faye McCarty of Fallon, Nevada, and Paul D. and Lois McCarty of Marengo; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Barrick of Marengo; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Dale Traeger of Marengo.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Deltus O. McCarty in 1991; a son, Melvyn in 1945; a great-grandson, Logan Albanese; three sisters, Fronia Manross, Florence Hart, and Isabell Hardman; and two brothers, William and Vaughn Babcock.
Visitation was held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, where funeral services were held with the Reverend Michael Olinger officiating. Interment will be in Galena Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Morrow County Hospital Golden Twigg.

Charles "Dave" McCaughey
Charles David "Dave" McCaughey, 65, of Gainesville, Fla., and formerly of Galena, died Sunday (May 13, 2001) in Gainesville.
He was born in Newark and lived in Columbus and Galena before moving to Florida. A retired custom home builder, he was a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University and received a degree in economics.
Surviving are his wife, Linda McCaughey of Gainesville; a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Tonia McCaughey of Gainesville; and a daughter and son-in-law, Molly and Jeromy Foley, also of Gainesville.
Graveside services will be held for Dave McCaughey,Gainesville, Florida, and formerly of the Sunbury-Galena area, on Saturday, June 23, 2001 at 10 a.m. at Galena Cemetery. The Reverend Carol Weiss will officiate. Friends are invited to join the family for the service at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Florida, 4200 N.W. 90th Boulevard, Gainesville 32606.

Edwin McClain
Funeral services were held Tuesday for Edwin L. McClain, 73, who helped bring Genoa Township its own fire department almost 27 years ago. He is survived by his wife, Joan.
Mr. McClain and his wife moved to Genoa Township in 1965. He was elected a township trustee in the early '70s at a time when the township relied on Westerville and Galena for fire protection. He and other trustees decided to start a volunteer fire department and McClain served first as assistant chief and eventually as chief. He retired as fire chief in 1984.
He was also a franchise distributor of Pepperidge Farm bakery products.
