Bernadette Rosemary Camplese-Lacy
ASHTABULA - Bernadette Rosemary Camplese-Lacy, 55, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000, in Ashtabula County Medical Center after a short illness.
Born in Magherafelt, Ireland, June 22, 1945, she was the daughter of James and Bridget (Gallegher) Camplese.
She was a member of St. Joseph Church and worked for Goodwill Industries for 29 years.
Survivors include her sister, Patricia Hadlock of Ashtabula; and three brothers: James and Anthony of Ashtabula, and Christopher of Hamlet.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3330 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, with the Rev. Philip Miller officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Calling hours are Sunday 6 to 8 p.m. at Zaback-Czup Funeral Home, 500 Prospect Road, Ashtabula.

Donald F. Lewis
ASHTABULA - Donald F. Lewis, 80, of Runkle Ave., Ashtabula, died Friday, June 6, 2003, at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home.
Born August 12, 1922, in Ashtabula, the son of Clyde and Loretta M. (Madden) Lewis, he has been a lifetime area resident.
He graduated from Ashtabula High School and then went on to serve in the U.S. Marines during World War II in the European Theater of Operations and the Pacific Theater of Operations.
Mr. Lewis was retired from Conneaut Leather where he was employed for 30 years. He was a member of VFW Post #943 and the Knights of Pithiais. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine A. (Rock) Lewis; a daughter, Dawn (Bill) Burgess of Andover; two grandchildren, Daniel and Abbey Burgess; and a brother, James Lewis of Cleveland.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Barbara Lewis; and a brother, Merle Lewis.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at the Ross-Billman Funeral Home, 526 W. Prospect Rd., Ashtabula. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens in North Kingsville. Calling hour will be on Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Alzheimer's Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Eric J. Estok
ASHTABULA - Eric J. Estok, 43, died Friday, April 4, 2003, as the result of an automobile fire. He was born Dec. 18, 1959, in Ashtabula, the son of Michael A. and Joann (Freetly) Estok.
He was a graduate of Harbor High School and also received electrical and truck-driver training.
Mr. Estok worked at Perry Communications of Ashtabula.
Survivors include his father, of Ashtabula; three brothers, Michael Jr., Christopher and Matthew Estok, all of Ashtabula; and three sisters, Gwendolyn Moore and Jennie Pace, both of Ashtabula, and Jodi Woissel of Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Service is 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Guerriero Funeral Home, 1550 W. 19th St., Ashtabula. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Calling hour is 7 p.m. until the time of the service, Wednesday, at the funeral home

Herbert E. Shaw
ASHTABULA - Herbert E. Shaw, 88, of Runkle Avenue, died Saturday, April 5, 2003, in the hospice unit at the Ashtabula County Medical Center. He was born July 6, 1914, in Ashtabula, the son of Arthur and Nellie (Hunter) Shaw, and had been a lifetime area resident.
He was employed as a truck driver with Doxie Dairy and R.F. Truesdell, and retired in 1982 from Springwood Products.
Mr. Shaw was a member of Harris Memorial Presbyterian Church and was a former member of the Elks.
He enjoyed bowling, golf and playing cards.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes (Teter) Shaw, whom he married Aug. 25, 1936; three daughters, Norita Pahel of Ashtabula, Sue Osowki of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Karen Richards of Placentia, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey, Scott, Jodi, Ted, Terry, Trisha and Krieg; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Geraldine Loose of Ashtabula.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Orson Shaw; two granddaughters; and a great-grandson.
Service is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Harris Memorial Presbyterian Church, 5807 Adams Ave., Ashtabula. The Rev. Joyce Shellhammer, interim pastor at Harris Memorial Presbyterian Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Ross-Billman Funeral Home, 526 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula. Memorial contributions may be made to the Harris Memorial Presbyterian Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and the church.

Sidney C. Sweet
CLARIDON TOWNSHIP - Sidney C. Sweet Sr., 92, died Sunday, April 6, 2003, at Geauga Regional Hospital in Claridon Township. He was born Feb. 20, 1911, in Russell Township, the son of Ora and Nellie (Hunt) Sweet.
He was a lifelong Geauga County resident.
Mr. Sweet worked as a mechanic and parts manager of Junction Auto Sales for 31 years and then worked in the plumbing supply area at the former Conley's for 16 years, retiring in 1987.
He married the former Pauline LeRoy in Chagrin Falls on Feb. 4, 1936.
He enjoyed camping with his family. In his early years, he enjoyed tinkering with small engines. Recently, he enjoyed mowing his lawn.
Survivors include his wife, of Claridon Township; two daughters, Beverly Durkee of Newbury Township, and Susan Sweet-Kalman of Painesville; three sons, Kenneth Sweet of Aquilla Village, Sidney C. Sweet of Thompson Township, and Douglas Sweet of South Madison; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Charlie Sweet of Novelty.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Frank Sweet; and two sisters, Margaret Painter and Winifred Calhoun.
Service is 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon.
The Rev. Mary Ellen Hoffman, of the First Church ­Congregational of Claridon Township, will officiate.
Burial will be in Claridon Center Cemetery in Claridon Township.
Calling hours are 10 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home.

Laina Dieffenbacher
ASHTABULA - Laina Dieffenbacher, 91, of Ashtabula, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at the Hospice Unit of Ashtabula County Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 7, 1911, in Ashtabula, the daughter of Einar and Hilda (Jokela) Kabelin. She was a lifelong resident of the city.
A registered nurse, Mrs. Dieffenbacher worked at Ashtabula General Hospital until her retirement in 1977. She was a graduate of the hospital’s nursing school program. She was a member of the Ohio State Nursing Association and a member of the Covered Bridge Chapter No. 591 of the Order of the Eastern Star.
A member of Bethany Lutheran Church, where she held many positions including church council, Women of Bethany, Friendly Visitors, and served as a nurse at Camp Luther in North Kingsville. She was active in the PTA.
Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn Maltby of Painesville, Mary Story of Cincinnati and Nancy Roberts of Uniontown; three sons, Theodore of Bangkok, Thailand, Paul of Ashtabula and David of Madison; a brother, John Kahelin of Indianapolis; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Theodore; and brothers, Toivo and Edward.
Service is at 11 a.m. Monday, at Bethany Lutheran Church, 933 Michigan Ave., Ashtabula. Calling hours are 9:30 to 11 a.m. Monday, at the church.
Contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of Bethany Lutheran Church or the Hospice Unit of ACMC.
Potti Lakeside Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1329 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, is handing arrangements.

Grace K. Mook
ASHTABULA - Grace K. Mook, 87, of Ashtabula died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002 in Madison Health Care, Madison.
She was born May 20, 1915 in Warren, the daughter of Charles and Gertrude Bowen.
Mrs. Mook was a lifelong resident and had worked in the accounting department of Carlisle-Allen Department Store for 25 years, retiring in 1980.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Conneaut.
Survivors include her daughters, Jane Bortz of Rome, and Kenna Carty of Clarence, Iowa; a son, Jack Mook of Florida; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Helen Neuhofs and Doris Shears.
Services to be announced at a later date.
Arrangements are being handled by Blessing Cremation Center, 9340 Pinecone Drive, Mentor.
