Donald C. Harley
ASHTABULA - Donald Charles Harley, 86, died Saturday, April 12, 2003, at The Villa at the Lake in Conneaut.
He was born June 22, 1916, in Albion, Pa., the son of Roy R. and Mable E. (Hoxie) Harley. He had been an Ashtabula resident since 1940.
Mr. Harley was employed as an engineer for the former New York Central Railroad for more than 39 years, retiring in 1980.
He was a member of the United Transportation Union. He enjoyed carpentry, gardening, fishing and camping during his early years.
Survivors include his wife, Marion E. (Brail), whom he married June 21, 1940, in Austinburg; a son, Wayne M. Harley of Chattanooga, Tenn.; a daughter, Brenda J. Korb of North Kingsville; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey D., Bradley J. and Gregory S. Korb, Craig D. and Michael T. Harley, and Jennifer L. McReynolds and Angela K. Thompson; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marian Ellis of Conneaut.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Bruce A. Harley; and a sister, Bernice Hallett.
Service is 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Childs and Williams Family Funeral Home, 1440 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula. Lay pastor Bill Daywalt of Prospect Presbyterian Church will officiate.
Burial will follow in Ridgeview Cemetery, Ashtabula Township.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Prospect Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or to the Hospice of Ashtabula County. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Charles P. Balog
ASHTABULA - Charles P. Balog, 83, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
He was born May 10, 1919.
Mr. Balog worked for Union Carbide Corp. in Ashtabula.
Mr. Balog was preceded in death by his brother, Alexander Balog, and two sisters, Elizabeth Balog and Mary H. Balog, who died Dec. 31, 2002.
A graveside service is 10 a.m. Wednesday at Edgewood Cemetery, Ashtabula Township. The Rev. Louis Medgyesi, of the Hungarian Reformed Church in Fairport Harbor, will officiate.
Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home in Painesville is handling the arrangements.

Jean L. Graham
ASHTABULA - Jean L. Graham, 82, of Ashtabula, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Church, 3330 Lake Ave., Ashtabula. Burial will be at Edgewood Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Ashtabula County, 2420 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, 44004.
Ducro Funeral Services and Crematory, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, is in charge of the arrangements.

Robert P. Gustafson
ASHTABULA - Robert Paul Gustafson, 69, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at the The Country Club Retirement Center.
Born on April 17, 1933 in Oil City, Pa, he was the son of Robert J. and Katherine L. (Van Ausdale) Gustafson
Mr. Gustafson was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean War.
Prior to his retirement on Oct. 1, 1995, Mr. Gustafson worked for SCM for more than 30 years as a chemical operator. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, bowling, traveling and visting casinos.
Survivors are a son, Michael J. Gustafson, of Columbus; a daughter, Lynda S. Bartone, of Ashtabula; three sisters, Patty Johnson and Wilma Shepherd, both of Titusville, Pa., and Nancy Shaw, of West Hickory, Pa.; two brothers, James Gustafson, of San Diego, Ca., and Harry Gustafson, of Titusville, Pa.; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Gustafson, who died Oct. 10, 1995, and his parents.
Services will be held 8 p.m. Tuesday, at the Ducro Funeral Services and Crematory, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, with the Rev. Kenneth Roberts of the Pentecostal Church of God officiating. A committal service will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 6 p.m. until the time of service Tuesday.

Agnes E. TenEyck
ASHTABULA - Agnes Elizabeth TenEyck, 88, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at Park Haven Home.
Born Jan. 14, 1914 in Sault Ste. Marie, Mi., she was the daughter of John and Agnes (Walters) Steve. She had been an Ashtabula resident since 1951.
Mrs. TenEyck was member of St. Joseph Church and a long-time employee of The Fashion on Main Ave. She enjoyed family, friends, cooking, traveling, dancing and participating in the Women's Club.
Survivors include her daughter, JoAnn Lee, of Ashtabula; two grandsons, Michael and Todd Lee; two sisters, Lillian MacLaren, of Sault Ste. Marie, Mi., and Viola Noble of Midland, Mi.; and a brother, John Steve, of Colonial Heights, Va.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow TenEyck, who passed away Sept. 16, 2000; four sisters, Mildred Parker, Josephine Sroka, Loretta Franz and Ida Dorrity; and her parents.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Church, 3330 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, with the Rev. Philip Miller, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Calling hours are 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Zaback-Czup Funeral Home, 500 West Prospect Rd., Ashtabula.
Ducro Funeral Home Services and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Mary E. Gilhousen
ASHTABULA - Mary E. Gilhousen, 80, died Monday, Aug. 12, 2002.
She was born Feb. 25, 1922, in Dairy, Pa., to L.M. and Maude E. (Shomo) McCollim.
Mrs. Gilhousen attended various elementary schools in western Pennsylvania because her father worked at People's Gas Company. She graduated from Elderton High School, Elderton, Pa., in 1940. She graduated from Citizen's General Hospital School of Nursing in 1943 with a four-year nursing diploma.
She married Leonard D. Gilhousen in Baltimore, May 8, 1945. They moved to Cleveland in October 1945 and lived there until 1957. While in Cleveland, she worked 12 years at St. John's Hospital. Mrs. Gilhousen moved to Rock Creek and worked at Geneva Hospital, retiring from there in 1987 as head of its maternity department.
Mrs. Gilhousen enjoyed reading, traveling, gardening and her pet Shih Tzu, Sir Rambo.
Survivors include sisters Edna Wells of Elderton, Pa., and Garnet Howard of Lower Burrell, Pa.; a son, Larry A. of Kenosha, Wis.; daughters Ellen G. Trask of Jefferson, and Lenora S. and Renee A., both of Ashtabula; grandchildren Richard N. Trask, James L. Gilhousen and Donna M. Gilhousen; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard; a sister, Hazel Silvis; a brother, Frank McCollim; and sons Robert D. and Gregory L. Gilhousen.
At Mrs. Gilhousen's request, there will be a private service at the convenience of the family and no visitation. Burial will be at Center Hill Cemetery, Knox Dale, Pa.
Donations may be made to the Animal Protective League or to the charity of the donor's choice.
Donald E. Walker Funeral Home, 828 Sherman St., Geneva, is in charge of arrangements.

Hobart C. Loyd
ASHTABULA TOWNSHIP - Hobart C. Loyd, 82, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at his home.
He was born Nov. 21, 1919, in Ashtabula, the son of Arthur and Clara (Wilson) Loyd.
He was a 1937 Ashtabula High School graduate. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater, earning a Bronze Star for bravery.
He returned to Ashtabula in 1948, from Leominster, Mass. He served as superintendent of water pollution control in Ashtabula County for 30 years, retiring in 1982.
He married Corinne Hiltz in 1945.
He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Ashtabula, and enjoyed baseball, gardening, reading and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Douglas of Girard, Pa.; three daughters, Nancy Huffman of San Marcos, Calif., Joanne Knapp of Kinsington, Md., and Cindy Luc of North Kingsville; two brothers, E. Eugene of Parma, and Howard of Ashtabula; a sister, Wanda Moses of Ashtabula; and 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Jacqueline Lehto; four brothers, Gilbert, Willard, Wayne and Durward; and a sister, Genevieve Fulk.
Service is 2 p.m. Saturday at Messiah Lutheran Church, 615 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Elizabeth Eaton officiating. Cremation will follow the service.
Calling hours are from noon until the time of service Saturday at the church in the Luther room.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Messiah Lutheran Church, or Hospice of Ashtabula County.
The Ross-Billman Funeral Home, 526 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, has charge of the arrangements.
