R. Mary Tersigni
GENEVA - R. Mary Tersigni, 84, of Geneva, died Friday, May 10, 2002, at the Country Club Retirement Center, Ashtabula.
She was born Feb. 8, 1918, in Wellsville, the daughter of Anthony and Anna (Gardner) Tersigni.
She was a resident of the area most of her life, except for 30 years that she lived in California.
She worked at True Temper in Geneva. Also, she worked in Cleveland during World War II at an airplane factory. In California she worked at Ford Motors and at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, retiring in 1988.
She was a 1936 graduate of Geneva High School and a member of Assumption Church, where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and the Young Ladies Sidality.
Survivors include her sister, Roseanna Hassett of Geneva; four brothers, Frank Tersigni of Jefferson, William and Adolph Tersigni of Geneva and Anthony Tersigni Jr., of Los Angeles, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Theresa Tersigni.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Tuesday at Assumption Catholic Church, 594 West Main St., Geneva, with the Rev. Paul Tobin officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Geneva.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m., Monday at the Behm Family Funeral Home, Geneva with a rosary service at 6:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Assumption Catholic Church, Renovation Fund, 594 West Main St., Geneva.

Thomas W. Hayes
BROOKSVILLE, Fla. - Former area resident Thomas W. Hayes, 76, of Brooksville died Feb. 6, 2002, at the James A. Haley Veterans Affairs Hospital, Tampa, Fla.
He was born Dec. 4, 1925, in Conneaut, the son of George and Nell (Chapman) Hayes. He lived in Conneaut until moving to Brooksville 16 years ago.
A World War II veteran, Mr. Hayes attended Conneaut High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942. He served as an electrician's mate in the Submarine Service Unit until 1946.
After the war he worked for Conneaut Auto Parts for several years and was assistant manager of Sanborn Motor Equipment, Ashtabula, for 15 years.
He was a member of Disabled American Veterans Post 67 of Brooksville, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2836 of Conneaut, U.S. Sub Vets of World War II, Third Degree Knights of Columbus, Conneaut, and attended St. Francis Cabrini Church, Brooksville.
Survivors include his wife, Berniece; a son, James of Erie, Pa.; a daughter, Karen Bihlajama of Conneaut; four stepsons, Jerry, Thomas and Terry A. Knauff, all of Conneaut, and Tim Knauff of Brooksville; a brother, John of Conneaut; two sisters, Bette Fobes of Kingsville Townships and Patricia Rood of Conneaut; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathryn; his parents; and a daughter at birth.
At the request of the deceased there will be no services. Burial will be in the National Cemetery at Brooksville.
Merritt Funeral Home, Brooksville, has charge of the arrangements.

Tyrus T. Fowler
GENEVA - Tyrus T. Fowler, 78, of Ansel Road, died Sunday, June 10, 2001, at LakeWest Hospital, Willoughby.
He was born March 3, 1923, in Geneva, the son of Talmadge "Tom" and Leah (Higgins) Fowler and had been an area resident most of his life.
Mr. Fowler served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He married Roberta Jean Manchester on June 14, 1947, in Ashtabula .
Mr. Fowler worked as the paymaster at True Temper Inc., Geneva and Saybrook for 40 years.
He was an avid golfer and reader, and enjoyed sports and his grandchildren.
Mr. Fowler was a member of the Geneva Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6846, the Geneva Blue Lodge Free & Accepted Masons, and the El Kadir Grotto of Ashtabula. He also served as the clerk for Geneva Union Cemeteries for 30 years.
Survivors include his wife, Jean; a daughter, Carol Lemponen of Cincinnati; two grandchildren, Jean Lemponen and Jill Horn; and a brother, Thomas Ford of Coraopolis, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The date and time of service and burial will be announced at a later date. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Geneva.
Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Donald E. Walker Funeral Home, 828 Sherman St., Geneva.

Gladys Eileen Hicks
WESTMINSTER, Md. - Former Ashtabula resident Gladys Eileen Hicks, 94, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, at her daughter's home.
She was born July 5, 1906, in Ohio, and had lived in the Edgewater, Md., area since 1953.
She retired in 1978 after 21 years as a hostess at the Howard Johnson restaurant in Annapolis, Md.
She was a member of the Baptist church and a member of the Edgewater "Peppers."
Survivors include four daughters, Etta Terry of Ashtabula, Nancy Mack of Westminster, Md., Bobbie Stone of Edgewater, Md., and M. Kae Cunningham of Glen Arm, Md.; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jeanne Boyle of Ashtabula.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Marion Willis.
Service is 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Hardesty Funeral Home, 12 Ridgley Ave., Annapolis, Md. Burial will be in Lakemont Cemetery, Davidsonville, Md.
Calling hours at the funeral home are 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

Marvin W. Ralph
GENEVA - Marvin W. Ralph Sr., 64, died Friday, April 11, 2003, at Lake East Hospital in Painesville.
He was born April 17, 1938, in Ashtabula, the son of Charles and Mary (Dunham) Ralph.
Mr. Ralph married Carolyn Leider was a lifelong area resident.
He served in the U.S. Army and worked as a pressman at the Star Beacon for 47 years before his retirement in December 2001.
Mr. Ralph enjoyed playing cards, camping, fishing and working in the garage.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Marvin Jr., Josh and Chad, all of Geneva; a brother, Walt of Ashtabula; five sisters, Diane Callahan, Nancy Ralph, Mary Ann Morris and Barb Green, all of Ashtabula and Linda Copley of Tennessee and two grandchildren, Alex and Emily of Geneva.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Chuck.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Kennedy-Billman Funeral Home, 323 S. Broadway, Geneva, with Pastor Larry Wade of the Park Street Christian Church, officiating.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Geneva.

Betty A Smart
November 21, 1936 - December 10, 2011
Services: December 18th, 2011 at 3:00 PM
Betty A. Smart, 75 of North Ridge Rd., West Geneva, died Saturday (Dec. 10th) at her home. She was born November 21, 1936 in Shaker Heights, Ohio and has lived in the Geneva area since 1983.
She had been employed with Spragues Company in North Adams, Mass. until her retirement. She enjoyed painting and watching television.
Surviving her are two daughters, Jeanne (David) Odell of Geneva, and Bonnie (Willie) Hartshore of Brooksville, Florida; a daughter-in-law, Laura Phillips of New Port Richey, Florida; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Beverly Mason and a granddaughter, Heidi Valliers.
A memorial service will be held Sunday (Dec. 18th) at 3:00 PM at the Madison Seventh Day Adventist Church on Route #84 in Madison, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Bethany Rose Gamache Fund % US Bank, 191 East Main St. Geneva, Ohio 44041.
The Geneva home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 323 South Broadway Geneva, Ohio is in charge of arrangements.
