Barbara J. Warner
COLUMBUS, OHIO - Barbara J. Meaney Warner, 47, died Thursday, March 29, 2001, at Doctors West Hospital in Columbus of Muscular Dystrophy, which she had all of her life.
The daughter of Richard J. and Shirley (Miller) Meaney, she was born April 18, 1953 in Ashtabula.
Mrs. Warner was a Conneaut High School graduate, and was a member of St. Frances Cabrini while in Conneaut.
She was employed as a secretary for the U.S. Coast Guard until retiring in 1987 because of her illness.
Warner attended West Park Evangelical Friends Church in Cleveland, where she participated in the Young Adults Bible Study and the choir. She enjoyed cross stitch, needlepoint and crocheting.
Survivors include her mother; four sisters, Lou Ann Harlacher and Susan Meaney, both of Columbus, Cindy Cropek of Conneautville, Pa. and Kathy Smith of Jefferson; and six brothers, Paul of Jefferson, Tom of Buffalo, N.Y., Bob of Conneaut, Rick of Santa Barbara, Calif. and Donald and Ed, both of Conneaut.
She was preceded in death by her father; her husband, Kenneth C. Warner; and one son, Joshua Jordan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Frances Cabrini Church in Conneaut, with the Rev. Raymond Thomas, pastor of St. Mary's and St. Frances Cabrini churches, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut.
Contributions may be made to St. Jude's Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Dorothy F. Lucas
HAINES CITY, Fla. - Dorothy F. Lucas, 75, of Haines City, Fla., and Ashtabula, died Thursday, March 29, 2001, at her residence in Florida.
Born May 8, 1925, Mrs. Lucas was a winter visitor to Haines City since 1986.
She was a member of Prospect Presbyterian Church in Ashtabula.
Survivors include her husband, J.P. Lucas of Haines City and Ashtabula; two sons, David Lucas of Central City, Iowa, and Scott Lucas of Cincinnati; one daughter, Jayne Ann Lucas-Hartland of Toledo; one sister, Jeanne Moores of Willoughby; one half-brother, Richard Forringer of Durham, N.C.; one half-sister, Sharon Louise Ohnmeiss of Stow; stepmother Freda Forringer of Stow; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Arnson, Auburndale, Fla.

Raymond A. Sweet
JEFFERSON - Raymond A. Sweet, 85, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 1, 1915, in Painesville, the son of Albert N. and Jessie M. (Wheeler) Sweet and had been a resident of Jefferson since 1941, coming from Painesville.
Mr. Sweet was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force, serving in World War II.
He married Marjorie L. Ray on Nov. 27, 194, at the Jefferson United Methodist Church.
Mr. Sweet was a 25-year employee of Ashtabula Gas & Oil Co., retiring in 1986
He was an avid golfer and bowler.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Ken L. of Jefferson; and two grandchildren, Kimberly A. of Akrom and Christopher M. of Wichita, Kan.
He was preceded in death be his parents and a brother, Allen.
Service is 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Fleming Funeral Home Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with Gordon Emerson, lay pastor of the Jefferson United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery, Jefferson.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 1 p.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 12200 Fairhill Road, Cleveland 44120.

Catharine P. "Kate" Prevost
TROY, Mich. - Catharine P. "Kate" Prevost, 75, of Troy, Mich., died Friday, Oct. 27, 2000, in William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak.
Born Sept. 26, 1925, she was the daughter of Roy and Helen (Smead) Patterson.
Mrs. Prevost graduated from Geneva High School in 1943 and from Muskingham College and Case Western Reserve University with a degree in library science.
She was a librarian at the Royal Oak Library prior to her marriage in 1951.
Mrs. Prevost was an avid bridge player and was a member of several bridge and book clubs. She also was a member for 20 years of the Michigan Association of Transcribers for the Visually Impaired.
Mrs. Prevost was a member of Oakland Hills Country Club and enjoyed playing golf.
Survivors include her husband, Alvin R.; two daughters, Alison Prevost of Manassas, Va., and Ellen Hofacker of Harbor Springs, Mich.; one son, Thomas C. of McMinnville, Ore; two grandchildren, Talia and Jeff; and one sister, Margaret of Cockeysville, Md.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Michigan Association of Transcribers for the Visually Impaired, 913 County Road 612, Lewiston, MI 49756.
Arrangements were handled by the William R. Hamilton Co., Birmingham, Mich.

Hargus Richardson
February 16, 1930 - March 3, 2009
Services: March 8th, 2009 at 5:00 PM
JEFFERSON – Hargus Richardson, 79, died Tuesday March 3, 2009 in the Ashtabula Co. Medical Center.
He was born in Irvin, KY. the son of Melvin and Gracie (Plowman) Richardson. He managed the Marathon Service station and was a mechanic for many years prior to his retirement in 1992. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, gardening, and especially time spent with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons: Paul of Ashtabula; Jerry of Jefferson; and Scott of Virginia; his daughter Catherine Richardson of Prescott, AZ.; his brothers: Amos, Cecil, and Thomas all of Hamilton; Alfred of Indiana; his grandchildren: Angel, Chad, Shane, Leah, Taylar, Peighton, Jimmy, Stephen, and Bobby; as well as 5 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Michele (Donic) on May 14, 2002; his brothers Malcolm, Elmer and Lonzil; and his sisters Bessie Messling and Eva Duncan.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday at Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, Jefferson Home 49 W. Jefferson St. with the Rev. Harry Shipley officiating. Burial will take place Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakdale Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 3 to 5 in the funeral home prior to the service.

Mary Anderson Sherrange White
April 5, 1919 - February 25, 2009
Services: at 12:00 AM
Born April 5, 1919, in Erie, Pa., she was the daughter of Henry and Elsie (Hulbert) Anderson. She graduated from Academy High of Erie in 1937, and received her B.S. in Education in 1941 from The State Teachers College, Edinboro, Pa. She was married to Lawrence Sherrange in 1944 and they lived in North East, Pa., where they had two daughters. After leaving North East, she lived in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Fern Creek, Ky., and Erie, Pa.
In 1957, Mary accepted a position with Jefferson Area Local Schools. “Mrs. Sherrange” taught until 1964, when she married Floyd White of White’s Bakery. Mrs. White continued teaching 3rd grade at the Jefferson Elementary School until her retirement in 1985.
Mary was a member of the Jefferson First Congregational Church, Ohio Eastern Star (Sunshine Chapter), DART (Division of Active Retired Teachers), ORTA (Ohio Retired Teachers Assoc.), ACRTA (Ashtabula County Retired Teachers Assoc.) and the Rebekah Lodge of Dorset.
She enjoyed shopping, traveling, gardening, reading and doing puzzles.
Survivors include her daughters, Suzanne (William) McCune and Leslie (Fred) Trautlein, both of Jefferson, Ohio; four granddaughters, Melissa (Shamus) Walters of Galloway, Ohio, Suzanne (Thomas) Saccomanno of Medford, N.J., Melinda (Scott) Oswiecinski of Dublin, Ohio, and Sara (Robert) Waite of Southampton, N.J.; as well as five great-grandchildren, Taven and Caden Walters, Nicholas and Samuel Saccomanno, and Abigail Waite.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Leslie; and her husbands, Lawrence Sherrange and Floyd White.
At her request, no calling hours will be observed.
A Memorial Service/Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the First Congregational Church of Jefferson.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Ashtabula Regional Home Health and to The Hospice of the Western Reserve for their exceptional care provided to Mary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her name and sent to the First Congregational Church of Jefferson Memorial Fund or to the Charity of your choice.
The Jefferson Home of the FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, INC., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, Ohio, is handling the arrangement for the family.
