John Kurkowski
MADISON - John Kurkowski, 70, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at Lake East Hospital.
He was born March 1, 1931, in Bloomfield, the son of Joseph and Josephine Kurkowski.
Mr. Kurkowski served in the Korean War as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division and also served as a motorcycle military policeman in the U.S. Army.
He was retired from Rockwell International in Saybrook.
He was a member of the Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Carol (Dremann) of Madison; two sons, Michael of Denver, N.C., and Mark of Geneva; three daughters, Cheryl Kurkowski of Mentor, Tammy Frye of Madison, and Kelly Bowman of Leroy Township; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandson, Nathan Kurkowski.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Hank and Stanley; and a sister, Mildred Manka.
Service will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Potti Funeral Home, 2726 Hubbard Road, Madison, with the Rev. Vernon Sheperd of Chapel United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Kingsville.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Chapel United Methodist Church, 2019 Hubbard Road, Madison, Ohio 44057.

Cecil W. Sanders
MADISON - Cecil W. (Pete) Sanders, 64, of Madison, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, at LakeEast Hospital in Painesville.
He was born Feb. 5, 1938, in Painesville, the son of Clifford and Mary (Folk) Sanders.
Mr. Sanders was a U.S. Army veteran and was a member of the American Legion Post 112, Madison.
Survivors include his wife, Genevieve (Patterson); a son, Christopher Sanders of Madison; four stepchildren, Raymond Reho, Robert Reho, Joseph Reho and Gail McElroy; 12 grandchildren, Robbie, Samantha, Raymond, Dustin, Joey, Shawn, Brittany, Amanda Reho, Lisa, Tina, Christine, and James McElroy; a great-grandson, Eric McElroy; two sisters, Bertha Girdler of Madison, and Ruth Leasure of Painesville; five brothers, Gerald Sanders of Madison, Richard Sanders of Geneva, Roy Sanders of Warren, Robert Sanders of Texas, and Michael Sanders of Austinburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren, Christopher W. Sanders Jr., and Rachel R. Reho; two brothers, Henry A. Sanders and Clifford Sanders; and a sister, Helen Curran.
Services will be 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Potti Funeral Home, 2726 Hubbard Road, Madison.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Onita L. Warner
MADISON - Onita L. Warner, 92, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at Madison Health Care.
She was born Jan. 10, 1910, in Ashtabula, to Herbert and Ruby (Perry) Root. She married William E. Warner, who died in 1981.
Mrs. Warner worked 20 years at Carlisle's Department Store, retiring in 1975.
She enjoyed ceramics, gardening, camping and travel. She belonged to the 55-plus Club, the Aconcha Campers, the Saybrook Stars and Thars Square Dancers. She was also a member of Austinburg United Church of Christ.
Survivors include daughter Jean Richmond of Dorset; sons Richard E. of St. Charles, Mo., and James H. of Yakima, Wash.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, brothers Paul and Lloyd Root, and grandson David Warner.
Service is 10 a.m. Thursday at the Ross-Billman Funeral Home, 526 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, officiated by the Rev. Gretchen Wagner of the United Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Saybrook Cemetery.
Calling hours are 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Envelopes available at the funeral home.

Lewis C. Grabski
MADISON - Lewis C. Grabski, 78, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2001, in his home.
Mr. Grabski was born Sept. 16, 1923. He was a United States Navy veteran, serving in World War II.
Military Honors will be noon on Saturday at Fairview Cemetery in Madison Village.
The honor will be provided by the Madison Community Funeral Team, with Rev. Luigi Miola of Immaculate Conception Church officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Harbor Light Hospice, 34950 Chardon Road, Suite 102, Willoughby Hills.
The Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison is handling arrangements.

George K. Waltz
MADISON - George K. Waltz, 78, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001, at Hospice House in Cleveland.
He was born April 22, 1923, in Solon.
Mr. Waltz was employed by Matlack Trucking as a mechanic for 20 years, retiring in 1988. He was a veteran of the U.S. military
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen; five daughters, Diane Heinz and Susan Waltz of Geneva, Janet Ernst of Georgia, Karen Burns of Ashtabula, Mary Lou Westover of Madison; two sons, Keith and Kevin of Madison; 22 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Wesley.
A service was held Aug. 7 at Jakubs-Danaher, a Golden Rule Funeral Home, Cleveland
Burial was Aug. 10, in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, Chester Township.

Mary M. Cleversy
MADISON - Rosemary May Cleversy, 69, died Friday, May 10, 2002, at her home.
She was a Madison area resident for eight years and a Perry resident for 37 years.
Mrs. Cleversy was born May 2, 1933, in Cleveland, the daughter of Charles E. and Eleanor (Boing) Murray.
She married Warren Cleversy Jr. on July 26, 1952.
Mrs. Cleversy was a homemaker and housewife.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Madison Township, and a member of St. Cyprian Church, Perry.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years; three sons, Warren III of Florida, Charles of Montville Township and Ronald of Plymouth Township; four daughters, Christine Diven of Harpersfield Township, Roseann Gribble of Perry, Mary Jo Kirschstein of Geneva and Patty Cleversy of Chicago, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and two sisters, Patricia Boskovitch of Wildwood, Fla., and Chloe Brady of Willoughby.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Edward Murray.
Service is 10 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Church, 2846 Hubbard Road, Madison Township, with the Rev. Luigi Miola officiating. Burial will be in North Madison Cemetery, Madison.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison.

Shirley A. Powell
MADISON - Shirley A. Powell, 57, of Madison, died Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 10, 2001, at her home.
She was born April 28, 1944, in Painesville, the daughter of Newell and Frances (Kline) Williams, and had been a lifelong Madison resident.
She worked as manager at Madison's Hostess/Wonder Break store for 19 years.
Survivors include her parents, of Madison; four daughters, Angela Ogden of Willoughby, Karen Sudnick of Hambden, Jackie Pshock of Kirtland and Shirley Powell of Madison; three sons, Edward of Rock Creek, James of Thompson and Anthony of Geneva; a sister, May Hill of Louisiana; a brother, James Williams of Madison; and seven grandchildren, Jacob, Brittny, Joseph, Aaron, Jeremiah, Keegan and Sebastian.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, whom she married Sept. 21, 1963.
A Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 2846 Hubbard Road, Madison. The Rev. Luigi Miola, of Immaculate Conception, will officiate. Burial will be at Madison Memorial Cemetery in Madison.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Behm Family Funeral Homes, 26 River St., Madison
