Funeral mass Elizabeth C. “Liz” Bailey (Biele), age 73, of Mentor on the Lake will be held 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 7575 Bellflower Rd., Mentor.
Mrs. Bailey died Wednesday September 17, 2003 at Lake Hospital System in Willoughy. She was born February 7, 1930 in Cleveland, she had lived in Cleveland before moving to Mentor on the Lake in 1974.
Mrs. Bailey was a graduate of Shaker Heights High School, she received her B.A. from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 1952. She showed and trained horses from 1942-1953, after she was an International Cat Show Judge for 25 years. Along with her husband she ran “Cool Morning Cattery” amassing more than 130 Midwest and National awards, placing them among the top 20 catteries of all time. Mrs. Bailey was a member of many conservation and wildlife associations as well as being a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband of 42 years, William P.; children Roger Ian Sicin, Victoria Swank of Mentor, Christopher Bailey of Mentor and Jennifer Bailey of Mentor; grandchildren Angel, Dina, Samantha and James.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Barbara Eden Kollmorgen; granddaughter Heather Swank.
Family will receive friends 2 – 4 p.m. Sunday at Brunner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor.
Inurnment Mentor Cemetery, Mentor.

Funeral Services for John Bobeczko, 79, of Concord Township, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Brunner Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor.
Mr. Bobeczko died Oct. 4, 2003, at Altercare of Mentor in Concord Township. He was born June 1, 1924, in Cleveland, he lived in the Buckeye area for a number of years and Lyndhurst for 45 years before moving to Concord Township three months ago.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a member of the St. Gabriel's Catholic Church and a former member of the Church of St. Clare in Lyndhurst for a number of years. He also attended St. Andrew Ukrainian Catholic Church in Parma and St. Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church in Solon.
Mr. Bobeczko worked as a Tool and Die Maker for Mold Master in Mentor for ten years retiring in 1989.
Survivors are his son, James (Mary) Bobeczko of Concord Township; grandchildren, Christopher (Nicole) Bobeczko of Warren, Paula (Brad) Steven of Concord Township, David (Kelly) Bobeczko of Mentor and Mark Bobeczko of Concord Township; great-granddaughters, MacKenzie, Kaitlyn and Sara; and brother, Nicholas (Mary) Bobeczko of Cleveland.
His wife, Olga, died in 1987. His daughter, Marlene, died in 1978. His brother, Steve; and sisters, Rose and Mary, are also deceased.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Interment will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
The family suggests contributions to American Diabetes Foundation, 937 High St., Worthington 43085.

Services for Florence I. Carey, age 96, of Mentor will be held at a later date. Mrs. Carey died Tuesday, September 23, 2003 at her residence. She was born May 24, 1907 in Ashtabula.
She was a Guidance director and librarian at Edgewood High School in Ashtabula. Past president of ZONTA; school book reviewer for the state of Ohio; holds basketball record from 1924 by having 52 points in one games for the Ashtabula Harbor Mariners. She enjoyed traveling and reading. Past president Edgewood Teachers Association.
Survivors include her nieces Lois (Clyde Robert) Lamb of LaPorte, IN and Diane (Jim) Hall of Texas; nephew Kerry (Toni) Lehtinen of Salt Lake City, UT.
She was preceded in death by her brothers William and Dan Carey; sister Evelyn Lehtinen.
Family suggests contributions be made to Around-The-Clock-Home Care, 33 Mill St., Painesville, Ohio 44077.

Private family services will be held for Robert L. VanDerVelde, age 76, of Mentor on the Lake.
Mr. VanDerVelde died Tuesday, June 24 at Heartland of Mentor.
He was born July 17, 1926 in Suffern, New York he lived in Cleveland Hts. before moving to Mentor on the Lake 27 years ago.
Mr. VanDerVelde was editor of the GE NEWS for General Electric, retiring in 1986. Prior to that he worked in Public Relations for Firestone in Akron during which he and his first wife, Mary, and two boys lived in Liberia, West Africa on the Firestone rubber plantation for four years.
He was also a US ARMY Veteran, artist, cartoonist, world traveler, photographer and writer. He traveled extensively in Europe and South America and was particularly fond of searching for Mayan ruins in Chiapas, Mexico.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Lois (nee Herman) of Mentor on the Lake, sons: Robert J. (Laura) VanDerVelde of Michigan, James VanDerVelde of Cleveland Hts and granddaughter Krista VanDerVelde of Michigan and dear friend, who he considered a sister, Barbara Conklin of Lakewood.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, David Churchill VanDerVelde.
Inurnment Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.
Contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 5786 Heisley Rd. Mentor 44060.

Memorial service for Mara A. (Salenbauch) Wegiel, age 75, of Willoughby will be held 11 a.m. Monday July 21, 2003 at Lyons Chapel at Nason Centre at Breckenridge Village, 36859 Ridge Rd, Willoughby.
Mrs. Wegiel died Tuesday July 15, 2003 at Grand Pointe Assisted Living, Richmond Hts.
She was born July 25, 1927 in Aalen, Germany, she had lived in Detroit, MI. before moving to Willoughby in 1993.
Survivors include her sons Eric (Jan) Habinski of Mentor and Harald (Alica) Habinski of Crockett, CA; grandchildren Amy, Robert and Jean Habinski.
She was preceded in death by her 1st husband Stanislaw Habinski and 2nd husband Leo Wegiel and; brothers August and Werner Salenbauch.
Family will receive friends 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday at the chapel at Breckenridge Village.
Inurnment Olivet Cemetery, Detroit, Michigan

Funeral service for Brian Ulis, age 30, of Concord Twp. will be held 10 a.m. Monday July 14, 2003 at Brunner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor.
Mr. Ulis died Thursday July 10, 2003 in Harpersfield Twp.
He was born; April 5, 1973 Willoughby, he had lived in Mentor before moving to Concord Twp. 5 years ago.
Mr. Ulis was a landscaper in Lake/Geauga counties for the past 15 years. A graduate of Mentor High School 1991, he loved horticulture and was a part of the Horticulture team representing Mentor High School at the state competition, while in high school
Survivors include his mother Judyth (Daniel) Zaczkowski of Mentor, father Benedict Ulis of Hambden Twp., brother Mark Ulis of Concord Twp.; step-brother Kenneth Zaczkowski of Concord Twp., maternal grandparents Howard E. and Agnes B. Harper of Mentor, 2 aunts Ustine Barsdaitis of Eastlake, Melissa (Richard) Dempsey of Niantic, Conn., uncle Howard E. (Diane) Harper Jr. of Pilot Point, Tx., great aunt Violet Shea of Mentor, great uncle Ralph (Marge) Harper of Mentor; 4 cousins Richard & Jessica Dempsey, Anna Whitmire, and Deborah Barsdaitis.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Benedict R.and Anna Ulis.
Family will receive friends Sunday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home
Interment Mentor Cemetery, Mentor.

Funeral mass George Skieber, age 78, of Mentor will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday July 29, 2003 St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 7575 Bellflower Rd., Mentor.
Mr. Skieber died Friday July 25, 2003 at Lake West Hospital in Willoughby.
He was born March 23, 1925 in Yugoslavia, he immigrated to America and lived in Cleveland before moving to Mentor more that 25 years ago.
Mr. Skieber worked as a machinist and as a foreman before retirement. He was also past President of the GOTTSCHEE’R E.O.U.V. Club.
He is survived by his dear friend and companion, Maria Gliebe of Mentor and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
His wife, Anna, died in 1999. Two sisters and one brother have also preceded him in death.
Family will receive friends Monday from 4-8 p.m. at Brunner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor.
Interment Mentor Cemetery, Mentor.
