Robert E. Ray
VERO BEACH, Fla. - Robert E. Ray, 78, died July 30, 2001 in Vero Beach from a long illness.
He was born April 23, 1923, in Boone, Iowa, and moved from Madison to Vero Beach 18 years ago.
He was married to Dorothy Ray for 32 years, and was a class A machinist.
He is survived by his second wife, Esparanza, four brothers and two sister in the Akron area, and five children, Bob Ray of Geneva, Peggy Barstow of Spring City, Tenn., Daniel and Tim Ray of Tennessee, and Diana Murphy of Geneva.
There will be no services.

Richard E. Thaxton
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Richard Edward Thaxton, 66, of Jacksonville died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville.
He was born Aug. 11, 1934, in Rochester, N. Y., the son of Perry and Mary (Hart) Thaxton.
Mr. Thaxton had been a 32-year resident of Chesterland, before moving to Florida in December 2000.
He was a surveyor in the title search business at Lawyer's Title in Chardon from 1962 until 1992. He also was a surveyor for Wilson and Associates in Chardon from 1982 until 1992.
Mr. Thaxton was a 1952 graduate of Holy Name High School in Parma Heights and received his engineering degree from Fenn College in Cleveland. He was drafted in 1956 and served in the United States Army.
He enjoyed world travel with his wife to Europe and South America, classical music, reading, fishing and sports.
Survivors include; sons Jay of Jacksonville, Fla., Perry of Chesterland; grandson Ryan of Jacksonville, Fla.; brothers, Patrick of North Olmsted and Robert of Cleveland.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy, in 1983 and his parents.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Ritondaro Funeral Home, 126 South St., Chardon, with the Rev. Norm Smith of Chapel of the Divine Word Catholic Church in Kirtland officiating.
Burial will be in Fowlers Mill Cemetery in Munson.
Calling hours will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 12200 Fairhill Road, Cleveland.

L. Pauline Eastlake
COLUMBUS - L. Pauline Eastlake, 88, of Columbus, died Thursday, June 7, 2001, at Wesley Glen Retirement Center, Columbus.
She was born April 4, 1913, in Pierpont Township, the daughter of Floyd F. and Grace M. (Watson) Cutright, and had been a lifelong Andover and Pierpont area resident.
She married Howard W. Eastlake on May 30, 1937.
Mrs. Eastlake had lived in her family home on West Main Street, Andover, for more than 54 years. She was a 1931 graduate of Pierpont High School and a 1933 graduate of Kent Teachers College. She taught elementary school in Dorset, Colebrook and Andover.
A member of First United Methodist Church of Andover, she was active in the United Methodist Women's group and a leader in the Methodist Youth Fellowship in her earlier years. She was a member of the former Floral Chapter 54, Order of the Eastern Star, Andover; served for a number of years as a trustee for the Andover Public Library; and was a member of the Ashtabula County Retired Teachers Association.
Mrs. Eastlake enjoyed reading, and in earlier years, played the piano and organ.
Survivors are a daughter, Marilyn Shipman of Worthington; a son, David of Salem; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother, Harold F. Cutright.
Service is 11 a.m. Monday at Bumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect St., Andover, with the Rev. Jeffrey W. Stoll officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Andover.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church of Andover, P.O. Box 207, Andover 44003.

James Stanley Beran
WOODINVILLE, Wash. - James Stanley Beran, 46, died Friday, March 30, 2001, in an accident in Issaqua, Wash.
Born Sept. 25, 1954, in Warren, he grew up in North Bloomfield.
He graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1972.
He married Gail Soloweyko July 26, 1975, in Windsor.
He was an electrical lineman and an IBEW member for 25 years in Ohio, Idaho, Alaska, Pennsylvania, Georgia and, most recently, with Puget Sound Energy in Seattle.
He spent 14 years volunteering for the community as a soccer and baseball coach in the Northshore area.
His family said he instilled in hem and all who met him a zest for life, a passion for adventure and travel and a joy of learning. He shared with his wife and children a respect and love for nature and the outdoors.
Survivors include his wife, his in-laws, Rosemarie and Alex Soloweyko of Windsor; two daughters, Jessica and Sarah and her fiancé, Rick, in Beijing, China; one son, James; his mother, Marilyn; three brothers, Joe and John, both of Bloomfield and Don of Windsor.
Service was Tuesday at Green's Funeral Home, 1215 145th Place, Bellevue, Wash. 98015.
Contributions may be made to the college fund of Jessica and James Beran, Washington Mutual Bank, 13425 NE 175th St., Woodinville, Wash. 98072.

Lowell C. "Pat" Kennedy
ST. PETERSBURG, FL - Lowell C. "Pat" Kennedy, 93, of Parsons Ave., Seffner, FL, died Saturday, June 7, 6_10__Kennedy__obit_eps 2003, at Lexington Health Care Center in St. Petersburg, FL.
Born May 7, 1910, in Dorset, he was the son of the late Charles B. Kennedy and Ethel L. (Wilderson) Kennedy.
Formerly of West Andover, Mr. Kennedy had lived in Seffner, FL, for the past 30 years. He was a 1928 graduate of Dorset High School and was employed for a number of years by the Goodyear Tire Co. in Akron and Toledo. He later worked as a dispatcher for the New York Central Railroad for over 25 years, retiring in 1966. He also owned and operated a tire store in Andover from 1950 to 1956 and operated a beef cattle farm for many years in West Andover.
Mr. Kennedy was a longtime member of the Leon United Methodist Church; a 60-year member of Masonic Relief Lodge #284, F & AM, in Pierpont; the former Floral Chapter #54, Order of Eastern Star, Andover; and the Ohio Grange. He was an active member of the Brandon Swim Club in Florida and was recently honored for over 25 years of service as a volunteer at Brandon Regional Hospital.
Mr. Kennedy married his wife, Hazel (McMillion) Kennedy, on March 9, 1928. She passed away March 20, 1977.
Survivors include a granddaughter, Sherrie R. (Kennedy) Santay, of Greenville, SC; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Paul L. Kennedy; two brothers, James Reed and Donald W. Kennedy; and a sister, Viola L. (Sowry) Stemm.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 12, 2003, at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect St., Andover, with the Rev. Patricia Fischer of the Leon United Methodist Church officiating. Masonic rites will be held prior to the service. Burial will follow in Dorset Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Leon United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 163, Dorset, OH 44032, or to Andover First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 207, Andover, OH 44003.

Delwin D. Hines
INVERNESS, Fla. - Delwin Denzel Hines, 74, of Inverness, Fla., died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at his home.
He was born April 28, 1928, in Wilmore, Ky., the son of Harland and Evelyn Hines, and spent most of his life in Windsor Township. He moved to Inverness from Upper Marlboro, Md., in 1997.
He was a retired general contractor and owned and operated Del-Raeco Construction Co., in Adelphi, Md., for more than 30 years.
He was affiliated with the Hernando Church of the Nazarene and the Republican parties in Maryland and Citrus County, Fla.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Vivian (Bullis) Hines; two daughters, Cyndi Noell of St. Leonard, Md., and Valerie Hines of Lusby, Md.; five brothers, Wendell of Inverness, Daryl of Warren, Rolland of Mentor, Myron of Orwell, and Lowell of Jefferson; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Walden.
A memorial service is 2 p.m. Saturday at the Charles E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness, Fla. The Rev. Larry Brincefield, of the Hernando Church of The Nazarene, will officiate. Cremation will follow.
There will be no calling hours.
Instead of giving flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Hospice, 3350 W. Audubon Park Path, Lecanto, Fla. 34461.

Thomas W. Norman
TRUMBULL TOWNSHIP - Thomas W. Norman, 76, of Trumbull Township, died Friday, April 4, 2003, at his home.
He was born Aug. 24, 1926, in Painesville, the son of David A. and Frances (Hanks) Norman.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War. He was a truck driver with Lee Way Motor Freight and also owned and operated Ma and Pa's Open Pit Barbecue in Yukon, Okla. He was especially fond of his dog, Harley.
Survivors include a daughter, Rose Williams of Noble, Okla.; two sons, Thomas Norman of Grand River, and Jim Norman of Trumbull Township; four grandchildren, Thomas III, Maria, Morgan and Taylor; numerous stepgrandchildren; a sister, Marie Ott of Riverview, Fla.; and three stepsons, Kenny, Tony and Jeff.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his stepmother, Dorothy (Wickland) Norman.
A military service is 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 S. Broadway, Geneva.
There will be no calling hours.
