Elsie J. Sharp
August 27, 1932 - December 21, 2014
Services: December 27th, 2014 at 12:00 P. M.

Elsie J. Sharp, age 82, former Jefferson resident, died Sunday afternoon at the Austinburg Nursing & Rehabilitation Center where she had been a patient the past month.

She was born August 27, 1932 in Simons, OH the daughter of Herman W. & Lillian I (Dodge) Williams and has been a resident of Ashtabula Co. all of her life other than living away with her husband when serving in the military. She was married to Earl W. Sharp, Jr. on October 6, 1951 in Denmark Twp. Mrs. Sharp worked more than 20 years with Farmer’s Bank, then Ameritrust, retiring in 1983.

She was a member of the Jefferson First Baptist Church where she played both the organ and piano and sang for many years. She also played at many other churches when in neeed. Her hobbies included traveling, music, reading, motorcycling, roller skating and reading the comics. She was an animal lover and leaves behind her two favorite felines, Romeo and Juliet.

Survivors include three sons, Charles E. (Jan) Sharp of Ashtabula, Jesse E. Sharp of Saybrook Twp. & Shawn E. (Margaret) Sharp of Seattle, WA, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren (with one on the way) and two brothers, Eugene Williams of Kinsman & Ralph Williams of Jefferson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Earl in 1999.

The family wishes to express its appreciation and thanks to the Austinburg Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and Hospice of the Western Reserve for their help and support in recent months.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P. M. (noon) Saturday at the Jefferson Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson. The Rev. Douglas Williams, nephew to Mrs. Sharp, will be officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Saturday from 11:00 A. M. until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the First Baptist Church, 85 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson. The Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors have been honored to serve the Elsie Sharp family.

Patricia M. Brace
August 15, 1930 - December 21, 2014
Services: December 27th, 2014 at 11:00

Patricia M. Brace, 84 of Lake Rd. West Ashtabula died Sunday (December 21st) at the Ashtabula County Medical Center. She was born August 15, 1930 in Waterloo, Indiana the daughter of Clarence and Helen Bowers.

She received her Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University; her master’s degree in bacteriology from The Ohio State University and also an associate’s degree from Kent State University in computer science. She had worked as a teacher’s assistant at Kent State University.

She was a longtime member of The First Christian Church in Ashtabula and following their closing became a member of The First United Methodist Church in Ashtabula. She was a member of the League of Women Voters; the Women’s Club of Ashtabula; the American Association of University Women; the American Society of Clinical Pathologist and the Alumni Associations of Indiana University and The Ohio State University.

Surviving her is her husband; Dr. Kenneth Brace whom she married September 20, 1959; three children, Michael Brace of Newbury, Ohio, Karen (Greg) Plavcan of Weston, Florida and Arthur Brace of Belmont, California; two grandchildren, Kyle and Justin and two sisters, Elaine Kline of Georgia and Janet Gurd of Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral service will be Saturday (Dec. 27th) at 11:00 AM at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 526 West Prospect Rd. Ashtabula with Rev. Christine Bell of the Ashtabula First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Saybrook Township Cemetery.

Calling hours will be Friday (Dec. 26th) from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Virginia L. Simmons
March 12, 1930 - December 19, 2014
Services: December 22nd, 2014 at 15:00

Virginia Lee Simmons, 84 a lifelong resident of Ashtabula, went home to her eternal rest into the arms of her savior Jesus Christ on Friday (Dec. 19th)at the Ashtabula County Medical Center. She was born March 12, 1930 in Ashtabula, Ohio the daughter of Walter and Vestula (Pogue) Wakeman.

She was a active member of the Kingsville Presbyterian Church and she loved her family, her God,her church and music.

She was a devoted and loving mother to her children, Rebecca (Steven) Tompkins of Burton, Ohio, Marc Simmons of Scottsdale, Arizona and Carrie Faith who preceded her in death. Also surviving her are nine grandchildren, Kylie, Andrew, Adam, Shayna, Jordon, Stefan, Julie, Scott and Carla; eight great grandchildren, Dakota, David, Caleb, Judah, Moreh, Hannah, Zoe and Anabelle and a sister, Dixie Faye McKibban of Chillicothe, Ohio. Besides her daughter Carrie she was also preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond; a great grandson, Jaxon Wyatt Abbott; a sister, Doris Miller and a brother, Robert Wakeman.

Funeral services will be Monday, Dec. 22nd at 3:00 PM at the Kingsville Presbyterian Church, 3056 West Main St. Kingsville with Rev. Mary Susan Pisano and Rev. Bill Daywalt officiating.

Calling hours will be Monday from 1:00 PM until the time of service at the church. Memorial contributions in her name can be made to the Kingsville Presbyterian Church. The Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 526 West Prospect Rd. Ashtabula is in charge of arrangements.

Linda D. Harden
April 11, 1959 - December 17, 2014

Linda D. Harden, age 55, Brownville Rd., New Lyme Twp., died Wednesday afternoon at her residence following an extended illness.

She was born April 11, 1959 in Abilene, TX the daughter of Robert W. & Flora E. (Atkinson) Hardin and resided in Collinsville, TX before moving to New Lyme Twp. five years ago. Ms. Harden worked as a cook in area restaurants and nursing homes in the Collinsville area.

She was of the protestant faith attending the Baptist church. Her hobbies include picture puzzles, then making wall pictures, working with plastic canvas, cooking and baking.

Survivors include her mother, Flora Causey of Ben Wheeler, TX and have been caring for Linda the past several months, her fiancé, Ralph Stacy of New Lyme Twp., a son, James Harden of Collinsville, TX and three siblings, Clifford Hardin of Ben Wheeler, TX, Roberta Hardin of Athens, TX & Cheryl Anders of San Angelo, TX. Her father, Robert and a daughter, Audra Lynn Harden preceded her in death.

Private burial will take place in Texas following cremation. Contributions may be directed to the family, in care of her mother, Flora Causey, 500 Brownville Rd., Rome, OH 44085. The Jefferson Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson has been privileged to serve the Linda Harden family.

Dr. Richard L. Waters
April 3, 1933 - January 30, 2015
Services: February 9th, 2015 at 11:00 A. M.

Dr. Richard L. Waters, age 81, W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, died Friday afternoon, January 30th in the ICU Unit at the Ashtabula Co. Medical Center with his family at his side.

He was born April 3, 1933 in Jefferson, the son of Clifford L. & Gertrude M. (Winans) Waters and has been a lifetime Jefferson resident. An Eagle Scout, he graduated from Jefferson High School in 1951 and from Western Reserve Dental School in 1957. Dr. Waters practiced for 42 years, retiring in 1999. He also served as a dentist in the U. S. Air Force in Lincoln, NE.

Dr. Waters was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, the Covered Bridge Society, Lenox Historical Society, Jefferson Historical Society, the Jefferson Exchange & Jefferson Rotary Clubs and the Civil War Reenactment Group-29th Ohio Infantry. He also previously served on the Jefferson Area School Board. He loved his family and church and enjoyed traveling, camping, hunting, fishing, photography and history.

Survivors include his wife Norma J. (Lentner) Waters, whom he married June 5, 1980 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, seven children, Kathi (Dane) Roberts of San Carlos, CA, Dr. Elizabeth (Steve Meyer) Waters of New Zealand, David Waters of Honolulu, HI, Michael (Jodi) Waters, Mark “Skip” (Valerie) Weber, Jeffrey Weber and Dan (Theresa) Weber, all of Jefferson, 14 grandchildren, Nicole, Kaylin, Jacob, Isaac, Abbey Rose, Zachary, Mitchell, Tyler, Caitlyn, Ethan, Katrina, Cody, Brittany (Ben) & Courtney, two great-grandchildren, Hunter & Harper and a sister, Shirley Christensen of Long Beach, CA

His parents, his first wife, Julia and a brother, William all preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 9, 2015 at 11:00 A. M. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 89 E. Satin St., Jefferson, with the Rev. Fred Grimm officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, February 8, 2015 from 1-4 P. M. at the church. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Mary Wintz Scholarship Fund, 89 E. Satin St., Jefferson, OH 44047, envelopes will be available at the church.

The Jefferson Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, has been honored to serve the Richard Waters family.
