Beverly J. Wludyga
March 12, 1929 - January 12, 2015
Services: January 17th, 2015 at 11:00 A. M.

Beverly June Wludyga, of Ashtabula, died peacefully January 12th, surrounded by her family at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.

She was born on March 12, 1929 in Ashtabula, the daughter of Roy and Mary (Kaupilla) Davis. Growing up in a home full of love and raised by parents who treasured family; Beverly grew into a beautiful young woman. She was swept off her feet and married her husband Steve Wludyga on August 29th, 1946.

Together they made their home in Jefferson, Ohio. They had eleven children and Beverly brought the same feeling of unconditional love and family values into her own home. Family time was important and the Wludyga’s would gather every Sunday afternoon for family dinner. Raising a large family, Beverly was in her element. She taught her children to work hard and to be honest. An active family, they enjoyed the outdoors. This led to many visits to the local Doctor. It was said that Doctor Franley had a back entrance always open so that Beverly could come when ever needed. Through it all she was the organizer, the constant the rock of the family. She found ways to do little special things for her children, even on a tight budget. If you needed something, she found a way to get it.

When you walked into her home, you felt comfort and love. As her children grew and became involved in extracurricular school activities she never missed a beat. She was their biggest supporter and pushed them harder than any coach they ever had. Never missing a match, game, or concert, she was truly an inspiration. Her door was always open, even if you weren’t one of her kids. If you needed a hot meal, you were welcome. Her kitchen was always full of teenagers who all called her “Mom”. She made sure everyone who walked in her door, left feeling loved.

As her younger children became teenagers and more independent, Beverly decided she should go to work. She enjoyed her time as a cashier for the Dolan family at the Jefferson Convenient Food Mart. She later took a position with the Ashtabula County Vocational School, where she worked and retired as a baker and cashier. The students loved and respected her and many of them called her “Mom”.

When her children grew up and left the home, she and Steve built their retirement home on the Pymatuning Lake. It was there that they gathered with grandchildren running around, hikes in the woods, and fishing on the lake. Busy weekends usually ended with the family gathered around a big bonfire, sharing stories. Being a grandmother was one of her greatest joys. She was known to her Grandchildren as Grandma Gucci and was loved beyond words. Ever the care giver, she was there for them when they were sick and always made them feel special. She passed her love of family and pride down to her grandchildren. She was quick with a hug and kiss, but not afraid to tell them her opinion and she expected them to listen. She loved watching them grow up and was so very proud of them all.

There are people that come into the world and make a difference. Beverly was one of those people; she has left a legacy that will live on. A legacy of love, pride in oneself, honesty, hard work and most importantly family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Steve in 2007, children Gene in 1953, Theodore in 1954, Stephanie Rogers in 1991, Stephen and Quinne Buzzard in 2013, sisters Dorothy Irvine and Bessie Lewis, brothers Donald, Merle and Roy Davis.
