Roger Lee Clay Sr.
SALEM - Roger Lee Clay Sr., age 80, died Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at Salem Regional Medical Center.
He was born January 9, 1940 in Salem, son of the late Oscar and Dorothy (Schaal) Clay. Roger worked as a maintenance electrician in Los Angeles, California. He lived in Los Angeles for 20 years, then moved to Maui, Hawaii. Although he struggled with Multiple Sclerosis for many years, he loved tinkering in his workshop for hours on end. Every single day in Maui was paradise to Roger. He and his wife returned to Salem in 2010 to reunite with their families.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon (McCartney) Clay, whom he married August 9, 1960; his only son, who was his pride and joy, Roger Clay Jr. of Hawaii; and a sister, Karen Conrad of Toledo.
Besides his parents, a brother, Richard, and one sister, Jean also preceded him in death. No services will be held.
Arrangements are being handled by Stark Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Martin "Sonny" Wolf
East Palestine - Martin "Sonny" Wolf, 91, of East Palestine, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2020 at his home
He was born on November 1, 1928 in Youngstown, a son of the late Martin and Anna Entzi Wolf and had lived in this area most of his life. Sonny had worked as a truck driver for 60 years and worked for various companies including Adamson Tank Co., Aristech Chemical and Nulfco.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in East Palestine and enjoyed being Assistant Scout Master of Unity Troop 39. He is survived by his wife, the former Julia Smith, whom he married on July 29, 1950; son, Martin (Nancy) Wolf of East Palestine; daughter-in-law, Sharon Wolf of Salem; two daughters, Debra (Ron) Hanolt of East Palestine and Molly Kapeluck of Akron; sister, Betty Lou Theiss of Lisbon; eight grandchildren, Meredith McLaughlin, Eric Wolf, Andy Wolf, Ryan Wolf, Brian Hanolt, Dan Hanolt, Mike Kapeluck, and Sara Kapeluck; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Dale Wolf, sisters, Anna May Schuller, Ruthie Norris and Susie Walker and a grandson, Ian Wolf.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm at the Van Dyke - Swaney - Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine where social distancing will be encouraged and mask protocol is suggested. Services will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at 2:00 pm at the Van Dyke - Swaney - Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine, with Cindy Figley officiating. Burial will take place at Crest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Memorial donations may be made to Ohio Living Hospice.

Joshua A. Ham
COLUMBIANA - Joshua A. Ham, age 30, of Columbiana, died unexpectedly on Sunday, July 12, 2020 at his residence.
He was born on November 18, 1989 in Circleville, OH, a son of Matthew and Kerrie Ham. Joshua was a 2008 graduate of Crestview High School where he excelled in sports and received several honors for golfing. He attended Bowling Green University from 2009 - 2012 before moving back to Columbiana to work with his father in the family business, Creative Counters. Joshua enjoyed both playing and watching sports.
He loved golfing, as well as, both basketball and baseball. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and spending time in the outdoors, fishing, and camping. Mostly, Joshua enjoyed spending time with his family.
He was very close with his younger brother, Dylan, and had a special relationship with his beloved niece and nephew. Joshua will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He is survived by his parents, Matthew and Kerrie Ham of Columbiana; a sister, Sasha M. (Joe) Wright of Columbiana; his brother, Dylan Ham of Columbiana; nephew, Carter Love; niece, Mikaela Wright; paternal grandmother, Margaret Ham of Columbiana and his maternal grandmother, Mary (Shannon) Thomas of Johnstown, OH. Joshua was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Hazen 'Belden' Ham, Jr.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 18, 2020, from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at the Warrick - Kummer - Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana. To protect the families that we serve, our staff, and you, we ask that all visitors use face masks and follow the social distancing protocol. Private family services will be held for Joshua.

Mary E. 'Betty' Clayton
SALEM - Mary E. 'Betty' Clayton, age 90 died Sunday, May 24, 2020 at her home.
She was born February 13, 1930 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late William F. and Mary (Bowen) Domyan. Betty was a Welcome Wagon hostess for 13 years and previously worked at Persky's.
She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, and a former member of Elks BPOE 305 Ladies Auxiliary, YWCA, Salem Scampers and Carnation Kampers. Her family was everything to her. Her husband, Glenn L. Clayton whom she married January 14, 1950 preceded her in death May 15, 2009.
Survivors include two sons, Bruce W. (JoAnn) Clayton of Salem and Mark T. (Sandy) Clayton of San Antonio, TX; brother, William (Anna) Domyan of California; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, a son, Glenn L. Clayton Jr. and a sister, Ann Louise Lynskey also preceded her in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2020 at St. Paul Catholic Church with Father Robert Edwards officiating.
Calling hours will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2020 at Stark Memorial. For the safety of the Clayton family and visitors, please adhere to social distancing, bring your own mask and do not linger. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery. SALEM - Donna L. Yuhaniak, 83, died Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Brookdale Salem.
She was born January 13, 1937 in Leesburg, Virginia, the daughter of Timothy and Lorraine Elkins. She grew up in Washington D.C. and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1955. She met her husband, John J. Yuhaniak while he was stationed at Fort NcNair Army Base during the Korean conflict. After their marriage on September 14, 1955, they moved to John's hometown of Salem and raised their family. They were married 63 years. She is survived by her children, Terri Yuhaniak of Stow, John Michael Yuhaniak of Salem, and Nancy (Brian) Rapp of Granville, Ohio; five grandchildren, John Jr., Glenn, Paul, Kellee, Joseph, and great-grandson, Luke.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John on August 13, 2019 and her brother, Timothy Elkins. No services will be held at this time. The family thanks the staff at Brookdale Salem for keeping their residents safe during the pandemic and providing compassionate care for our mother. SALEM - George W. Good, age 80, died Friday, May 22, 2020 at Crandall Medical Center.
He was born December 29, 1939 in Franklin Square Ohio, son of the late Ross Good Sr. and Lilly (Conkle) Good. George worked at American Standard as a press operator for 19 years and previously at Parker Hannifin Corp. in Sebring in for 16 years.
He was a member of the Winona United Methodist Church.
He loved working on vehicles, motorcycles and especially John Deere tractors. He and his wife loved going on long motorcycle rides. George was also on a bowling team for several years. The family loved to camp and Spring Valley was one of their favorites. George worked hard and had his wife's dream home built on Rt. 9. Everyone complimented them on how the house was beautifully maintained and cared for with all the lovely flowers. He bought a horse and buggy and turned it into a planter for his wife.
He was married to Barbara (Stamp) Good, the love of his life for 38 years who preceded him in death October 11, 2008. They were married November 27, 1970.
Survivors include a son, Michael (Beth) Ramsey of Salem; two daughters, Marcia (Ronald) Good of Salem and Vicki Russell; five grandchildren, Corey Ramsey, Brandon Good Sr., Amanda (Jacob) Good - Peters, Angie (Austrino) Baldon and Freddy Austrino. He also was blessed with 11 great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents and wife, a daughter, Patti (Good) Austrino and a brother, Ross Good Jr. also preceded him in death. A private graveside service will be held at a later date with Pastor Tom Scott at Grandview Cemetery. A memorial service will also be held later. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery in Salem.

Paul Stanley Falkner, Sr.
Columbiana - Paul Stanley Falkner, Sr., age 82, of Columbiana, died on Sunday, May 24, 2020 at his home in Columbiana.
He was born on January 4, 1938 in Beloit, a son of the late Carl and Anna Reach Falkner. Paul was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War. He had worked at Youngstown Sheet and Tube for 26 years before they closed. Later he opened Sports Scene in Columbiana where he worked for an additional 10 years before retiring.
He was a longtime coach in Columbiana for both the boys baseball team and the girls softball team. Paul was an avid Cleveland Indians, Browns and Cavs fan. Paul also enjoyed spending time working in his yard. His wife, Anna Hughes Falkner, whom he married on August 1, 1959, preceded him in death on, November 6, 1980. Paul is survived by his daughter, Terri Lynn Graffius of Salem; three sisters, Esther Gilham of Newark, OH, Betty Fisher of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Mary Liggitt of Columbiana; brother, Leo Falkner of Conroe, TX; one grandson, Mathew Graffius and one great-granddaughter, Catrina Graffius.
He was preceded in death by a son, Paul Stanley Falkner, Jr; two brothers, John Falkner, and Harry Falkner, and by a grandson, Daniel Graffius.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 29, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at the Warrick - Kummer - Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana where social distancing will be encouraged and mask protocol is suggested. Services will be held on Friday, at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Chuck Hamilton officiating. Burial will take place at Columbiana Cemetery, Columbiana. Tuesday May 26, 2020

William Matthew Alesi III
SALEM - William Matthew Alesi III, age 36 died Monday, May 25, 2020 at Salem Regional Medical Center.
He was born May 15, 1984 in Alliance, Ohio, son of William Matthew Alesi Jr. and Robin (Senior) Fuson. William was a Browns and Chicago Bulls fan and enjoyed reading the Bible.
Survivors include two sisters, Judith M. Peck and Alesia Alesi; maternal grandmother, Irene Senior of Salem and his girlfriend, Heather Ferguson. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and one great nephew. Preceding William in death was a brother, Dean Shaffer, a sister, Charity Alesi; paternal grandparents, William and Paula Alesi; and maternal grandfather, Robert Senior and bonus father, Roger Fuson. No service or calling hours will be held.

COLUMBIANA - Brian Daniel Patrick, age 53, of Columbiana, died on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Salem Regional Medical Center.
He was born on April 5, 1967 in Youngstown, son of Daniel and Emilia "Mickey" Czekanski Patrick.

Edward Louis Bennett
SALEM - Edward Louis Bennett, age 67 died Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at Salem Regional Medical Center.
He was born April 2, 1953 in Alliance, son of the late Robert A. and Doris (Lepsesty) Bennett. Edward was a 1971 graduate of Salem High School. He worked for over 20 years at Ventra Salem. His passion was writing poetry and he was especially proud of penning the lyrics for songs by a local recording band 'Bo and the Arrows'. Ed amassed an impressive collection of the Beatles' music and memorabilia, which he was proud to display. Ed also was a trivia genius who could easily have captured a few Jeopardy Show wins.
Survivors include two sisters, Linda Herron of Fernandina Beach, Florida and Patricia (Stephen) Sanders of Salem; brother-in-law, Rick Herron of Salem; nephews, Jason Herron, Matthew Herron, Zach Bennett, and Derek Sanders and niece, Alissa Sanders Treen.
Besides his parents, a brother, Robert 'Benjy' G. Bennett also preceded him in death. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are being handled by Stark Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Wanda L. Bowman
COLUMBIANA - Wanda L. Bowman, 94, of Columbiana, died on Monday, May 11, 2020 at Auburn Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, Salem.
She was born on September 27, 1925 in Leetonia, a daughter of the late Bernard and Minnie Gray Hinerman.
She was a 1943 graduate of Leetonia High School and was a member of the East Fairfield United Methodist Church and the Columbiana B.P.W. where she was voted Woman of the Year in 1980. She worked for 23 years at the Petite Shop, a children and infants store. She returned to school and became a medical secretary and worked at Columbiana Medical Lab for Dr. Kolozsi for 7 years and then at the Columbiana Family Practice for Dr. Mark Evans, Dr. Walter Dombroski and Dr. Larry Smith for 8 years.
She was an accomplished quilter and has 12 first place ribbons from the Canfield Fair. At age 80, she became an artist and has pictures of the coke ovens in the Leetonia Library. She had painted and given away many paintings of the Pine Lake eagles and Beaver Creek State Park. She enjoyed spending time with family, friends and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her favorite saying was "If you like it, take it home." Her husband, Lee Edward Bowman, Sr., whom she married on June 21, 1944, preceded her in death on October 11, 2001. Wanda is survived by her three daughters, Nancy Lee (Robert) Nell of Warren, Linda (Donald) Hulburt - Blosser of Salem, and Susan (Kermit) Chamberlin of Struthers; a son, Lee E. (Pam) Bowman Jr. of Leetonia; a sister, Mae M. Rakestraw of Indianapolis, IN; ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Wilma "Billie" Allgood and a brother Thomas "Tucker" Hinerman.
The family will receive friends at the Warrick - Kummer - Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2020. Due to the COVID - 19 situation, social distancing will be followed as we ask people to pass through the funeral home using mask protocol. Private family services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Friday with Pastor Deborah Quillen officiating.
Burial will follow in Clarkson Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the East Fairfield United Methodist Church.
