Connie M. Kirk (nee Gates), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, mentor, and friend, died in her sleep Sunday, May 25, at The Patrician Nursing Home. She was born May 3 in Cleveland, OH, the only child of Charles and Jesse Gates. A graduate of Garfield Hts. High School, she married Gordon Kirk in 1947 and had 2 children, Robert Gordon Kirk (deceased) and Terri Kirk-Hull of Strongsville. Connie was charter member of the Junior Women's League of Garfield Hts., President of the Overall Committee, and the only female candidate for the School Board in 1955. She served as Secretary of the Great Dane Club of Cleveland, and volunteered at Parma Community Hospital in the early 60's. She attained Silver Master Status as a member of the American Contract Bridge League, was a member of the Ohio Pace Arrow Motor Home Club and was a trustee for the Earlyjas Society of Kent, OH from 1994 to 2001. Connie is survived by her husband Gordon, daughter Terri, 2 grandchildren, David and Jessica, and son-in-law Dave. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be forwarded to The Patrician, 9001 W. 130th St., N. Royalton, 44133 or to the Earlyjas Society, P.O. Box 1621, Kent, OH, 44240. The family will receive friends at the BUSCH FAMILY FUNERAL CHAPEL, 7501 Ridge Road, Parma, on Sunday, June 1, 2003 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM followed by a Memorial Service at 4:00 PM. (440) 842-7800

Pearl A. Summerfield (nee Webb)

Pearl A. Summerfield (nee Webb) - age 77, of Elyria, died late Saturday night at her home following a lengthy illness. She was born in 1925 in Crossville, TN., graduated from High School and moved to Elyria around 1953.
Pearl worked in the restaurant business in Elyria. She started as a waitress and later was manager of the former Stone’s Grill and later, Zephyr Restaurant, for approximately 25 years, from the 1950’s through the 70’s.
She enjoyed camping and fishing trips with her husband.
Pearl is survived by her husband of 39 years, Harold J. “Tom” Summerfield; a half sister, Lily Hyder of TN and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a half brother, Eulish Hyder and her parents, Jesse and Emma Webb (nee Burgess) .
Funeral services will be the Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 28 at 10:30AM. Sr. Rita Costello, Spiritual Caregiver with New Life Hospice in Elyria, will officiate. Interment will be at Brookdale cemetery in Elyria, OH. Friends may call at the BUSCH-CURTIS-SCHEUFFLER FAMILY CHAPEL, 114 Second Street from 7-9PM Tuesday.

Ruth C. Buckhold (nee Gold) – 76 of Avon Lake formerly of Cleveland, passed away, Wednesday, March 31 at St. John West Shore Hospital, following a brief illness. Mrs. Buckhold was born, October 5, 1927 in Youngwood, PA and had lived in Avon Lake for 50 years.
Mrs. Buckhold was a homemaker, who enjoyed cross-stitch, gardening, especially orchids and watching and feeding birds.
Mrs. Buckhold is survived by her husband, Kenneth W., whom she married , February 14, 1950. She is also survived by daughter Susan E. Spanos (Christopher) of Oak Harbor, OH; 2 grandson: Jeffery Hertrick (Beth) and Richard Hertrick (Amy) and 3 great grandchildren: Danielle, Gwendolyn and Alexander; and brothers Donald Gold of California and Delvan Gold of Berea. She is preceded in death by a son Thomas (1977) and her parents, Donald and Ellen (nee Alexander) Gold.
Friends may call at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Belden Rd. Avon Lake, Friday, April 2 from 4-8pm. Funeral Services will be at the funeral home, Saturday, April 3 at 10:00am. Rev. Dorothy Jean Duesler – 79 of Avon Lake, formerly of Avon, passed away, Wednesday, March 31, at St. John West Shore Hospital, following a brief illness. Mrs. Duesler was born April 13, 1924 in Cleveland and had lived at Beach Park Tower, Avon Lake for the past 3 years.
Mrs. Duesler had worked as an assembler for the Streamway Faucet Company, formerly of Westlake. She retired in 1989 after 20 years of service. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Her husband Jack R. Duesler whom she married June 1, 1946, passed away, February 8, 1996. She is survived by daughters Linda Hill (Jesse) of Avon Lake and Lorraine Passerell of Elyria, sons John Duesler (Nancy) of Sheffield Village, Gary Duesler of Sheffield Village, Russell Duesler (Susan) of Avon and Dale (Cindi) of Avon. She also is survived by 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, a brother Charles Ordner (Marge) of Pine Prairie, Louisiana, Nancy Gibson of Brooklyn, OH and Alice Thiess of Olmsted Falls. Besides her husband, Mrs. Duesler is preceded in death by a brother Richard Ordner, a grandson Joseph and her parents, Charles and Jean (nee Kroll) Ordner.
Friends may call at the BUSCH-BURMEISTER FAMILY CHAPEL, 32000 Detroit Rd. Avon, from 2-4 and 7-9pm Friday. Funeral Services will be at the Funeral Home, Saturday, Apirl 3 at 11:00am. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memory Garden, Avon.
