Scott Douglas Lux, age 47, of Avon Lake passed away Sunday May 16, 2004 at Harborside Health Care, Westlake. He was born February 16, 1957 in Lorain, was raised in Avon Lake and returned to Avon Lake from Medina nine years ago. Scott worked part-time at Giant Eagle in Avon Lake until his illness one year ago. He was a member of the first graduating class of Murray Ridge School in 1975. Scott enjoyed bowling, dancing, and his family and had a great love of life.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Marie Kaiser (nee Taylor) in 1994 and his father Emil J. Lux in 1985. He is survived by his sister, Sandra Belsole (Al, Jr.) of Avon Lake; a brother, Emil Lux Jr. of Florida, nephews Brian Belsole (Kim) of Medina, Craig Belsole of Mentor, Brent Belsole (Charlene) of Avon Lake and great niece Morgan and great nephew Brock of Avon Lake.
Friends may call at the BUSCH-BURMEISTER FAMILY CHAPEL, 163 Avon-Belden Rd. Avon Lake Tuesday May 18 from 3:00-5:00pm and 7:00pm until time of memorial services at 8:30pm. Rev. Joseph Franklin Romes – 32 of a life long resident of Avon Lake passed away suddenly, Sunday, May 16, at St. John West Shore Hospital, Westlake. Mr. Romes was born November 2, 1971 in Cleveland.
Mr. Romes worked as a Fiberoptics Specialist for South Shore Cable Construction Company and previously had worked for XO Communications as an outside plant engineer. He was a Desert Storm Navy Veteran, serving from 1991 to 1995. He was a 1991 graduate of Avon Lake High School and had attended Cleveland State University.
Mr. Romes was an avid Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeye Football fan.
He is survived by his wife Jennifer A. (nee Griffiths), whom he married , October 24, 1998. Other survivors include daughter Samantha R. Romes and son Griffin M. Romes, both at home; his parents, Franklin J. and Joanne (nee Burris) Romes of Avon Lake; sisters: Debbie (Kevin) Lynch of Quincy, MA; Carol (Matt) Turner of Medina; Chantal (Ron) Monet of Mt. Pleasant, SC; Stephanie (Scott) Waltjen of Avon Lake; Diane (Rick) Scheutzow of Brunswick and Margaret Ortiz of Cleveland; brother: Franklin (Jennie) Romes of Brunswick and his maternal grandmother Forest Burris. He is preceded in death by a sister Jennie Romes and a nephew William Quickle.
Friends may call at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Belden Rd. Avon Lake, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00-9:00pm. Funeral Service will be Friday, May 21 at Calvary Baptist Church, 32607 Electric Blvd., Avon Lake at 1:30pm. Rev. David Skelton of the church and Rev. William Goodrich, will officiate. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memory Garden. Cremation by Busch Crematory. Memorial contributions may be forwarded to a fund set up in the Samantha and Griffin’s names at any Fifth/Third Bank.

Avon Lake, OH – Evan J. Kolar, age 90, of Avon Lake and formerly of Livonia, Michigan passed away Friday May 14, 2004 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center, Lorain following a short illness. He was born August 2, 1913 in Farmington, West Virginia and moved to Avon Lake 29 years ago following his retirement. He was employed as a wireman for a coal mine in West Virginia from 1930-1955 and then in the motor repair shop at General Motors, Detroit, Michigan until his retirement in 1975. During World War II he served his country in the Army in Europe. Evan was a member of St. Joseph Church, Avon Lake and the American Legion Post 211, Avon Lake. He enjoyed gardening and fishing.
Survivors include his daughter, JoAnn Runewicz (John) of Avon Lake, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Henry Kolar of West Virginia and George Kolar of Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife, Victoria (nee Pitkavish) in 1983, parents, Matt and Anne (nee Urbanick) Kolar and four brothers, Matt Kolar, Jr.; Frank Kolar, Bill Kolar and Nick Kolar.
Friends may call at the BUSCH-BURMEISTER FAMILY CHAPEL, 163 Avon-Belden Rd. Avon Lake from 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm Sunday. Mass of Christian of Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 32929 Lake Road, Avon Lake Monday, May 17 at 10:00am. Rev. James R. Becherer will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary cemetery, Lorain where VFW Post 451 and American Legion Post 30 of Lorain will perform military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association of Northeast Ohio, 1689 East 115th St. Cleveland, OH 44106.
