AVON LAKE, OH – Armand A. “Bud” Scalero, 77, of Avon Lake passed away Tuesday March 16, 2004 at his home. Mr. Scalero was born September 8, 1926 in Cleveland and was a graduate of Collinwood High School and Fenn College. During World War II Bud served as a Radioman in the U.S. Navy in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre, where he served on the U.S.S. Charles Ausborne as part of the Little Beaver Squadron. He was employed in the trucking business for forty years, retiring as a National Account Executive for Ryder P.I.E. He was a member of Mid-Century #725 F. & A.M. Masonic Lodge, Avon Lake; the Al Koran Shrine, the Cleveland Transportation Club; V.F.W. Post 8686, Sheffield Lake and Erie AmVets Post 55, Sheffield Lake. Bud enjoyed fishing and boating, gardening and woodworking.
Mr. Scalero is survived by his wife, Yvonne J. Scalero (nee Currier); two daughters, Sally Young (David) of Columbia Station and Sherry Gamble (Rodney) of North Canton; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and two sisters, Jeanne Lewis and Elaine Greg. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Lee Scalero (1954) and his parents, Frank and Ruth (nee Sump) Scalero.
Friends may call at the BUSCH-BURMEISTER FAMILY CHAPEL, 163 Avon-Belden Rd. Avon Lake from 6-9pm Thursday, where Mid-Century Lodge will conduct Masonic services at 7:00pm. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home Friday March 19 at 11:00am. Rev. Kelly Peters, pastor of the Avon Lake United Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon where V.F.W. Post 9871 of North Ridgeville and the Navy will conduct military honors. Memorials may be forwarded to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 10645 Euclid Ave. Cleveland, OH 44106 or the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 1000 E. Edgerton Rd. Broadview Hts. OH 44147.

Marcella L. Harris (nee Dial) – 83 of Avon Lake, formerly of Cleveland, passed away, Sunday, March 14 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center, from complications of pneumonia. Mrs. Harris was born May 9, 1920 in Cleveland and has lived in Avon Lake since 1958.
Mrs. Harris worked for American Greeting Cleveland for many years as a machine operator. She was a member of Holy Spirit Church, Avon Lake and the Church’s Ladies Guild. She enjoyed travel, reading, bowling and golf.
Mrs. Harris is survived by 2 sons: Daniel E Harris (Melvine) and James F. Harris (Bonita), both of Sheffield Lake; daughter Nancy C. Diersen (Al) of Lorain; 4 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and a sister Delores Carr of Eastlake.
She is preceded in death by her husband Francis C. Harris, parents Roy and Laura (nee Martin) Dial, 5 sisters and 3 brothers.
Friends may call the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Belden Rd. Avon Lake, Tuesday, March 16 from 7-9pm and Wednesday, March 17 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Prayer service will be at the funeral home, Thursday, March 18 at 9:15am followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Spirit Church, 410 Lear Rd., Avon Lake at 10:00am. Fr. James H. Beatty of the church will officiate. Interment will follow in Holy Cross cemetery.
