LONGENDELPHER, George W., Age 92 of Troy, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at Caldwell House, Troy. He was born April 9, 1918, in Miami County, Ohio, to his parents George & Rosemarie (Fletcher) Longendelpher. He was preceded in death by his brother Glenn; sisters Vera Wise and Beulah Wray; daughter-in-law Jill Longendelpher. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Mary (Finfrock); son Mark Longendelpher of Troy; daughter and son-in-law Georgiana & Raymond Schwedhelm of Orlando, FL; grandchildren Renata Ray Schwedhelm and Daniel Mark Longendelpher; brothers Melvin Longendelpher of Greenville and James Longendelpher of Troy.
George attended Concord High School and was an AAU record holding boxer. He served in the US Army in WWII from 1941- 1946. In 1944 he landed at Normandy and was engaged in the Battle of the Bulge. He retired from Hobart Corp. as a machinist after 42 years of service. He owned and operated Longendelpher Sweeper Shop in Troy for over 20 years. He was a member of the First United Church of Christ, American Legion Post 41, Troy, Senior Citizens Club in Troy. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, January 3, at Jackson-Sarver Funeral Home, 10 S. High Street, Covington. Mr. Raymond G. Schwedhelm will officiate with interment following at Highland cemetery, Covington. The family will receive friends and family from 11-1:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Church of Christ, 120 S. Market St., Troy.

DUFFEY, Harold, Age 82, of Bradford, passed away Thursday, December 23, 2010, at his home. Harold was born on March 12, 1928, in Circle Hill, Ohio to the late Ralph Duffey and Elizabeth Drees Duffey (Francis) Kraus. He is survived by step-brother Robert (Marianna) Kraus of Palo Alto, Calif. and step-sister Ellen (Robert) Hemmerich of West Milton. Harold was married to his loving wife Marceda (Hodges) Duffey for 62 years and she survives. Also surviving are sons Toby Duffey of Bradford and Gary (Deborah) Duffey of Pleasant Hill; 6 grandchildren Shane (Michele) Duffey of Bellbrook, Shannon Duffey of Pleasant Hill, Sharon (Michael) Casey of Covington, Shaun Duffey of Covington, Heather (Daniel) Welbaum of Troy, Travis (Alyssa) Duffey of Hilliard, 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by step-brother Marvin (Glenna) Kraus. Harold was a 1946 graduate of Newton High School. He grew up helping his parents operate Duffey's Grocery in Circle Hill. In 1953, he began working at Meadow Gold Dairy/Beatrice Foods where he worked as a wholesale driver/salesman for 35 years. Harold was a member of Stillwater Grange for 65 years. He was a drummer in the Rhythm “5” Dance Band. He was a member of the Greenville Creek Christian Church. Funeral services for Harold will be held on 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 28, at the Jackson-Sarver Funeral Home, 1 S. Main Street, Pleasant Hill with Pastor Daryl Peeples officiating. Interment will follow at Highland cemetery, Covington. Family & friends may gather from 3-7 PM Monday at the funeral home. JACKSON, Clyde, Age 94, of Pleasant Hill, passed away Thursday, December 23, 2010, at Caldwell House, Troy. He was born December 4, 1916, in Miami County, to his parents Andrew & Minnie (Adams) Jackson. Clyde was a 1935 graduate of Newton High School. He was a lifelong farmer and was first to receive 100 bushel of corn an acre in the area. He was a lifelong member of the Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren and enjoyed spending time with his family and farming. Clyde was preceded in death by brothers Charles and Otis Jackson; sisters Alma Stewart, Helen Jackson, Leona Fritz. He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years Jane ( Thompson); son and daughter-in-law Byron & Carol Jackson of Troy; daughter and son-in-law Jolene & Lynn Shellenberger of Pleasant Hill; grandchildren June Jackson of Bowling Green, Deron & Dana Jackson of Chicago, IL, Jeannie & Jon Riffle of Pleasant Hill, Jodi & Ron Duncan of Pleasant Hill, Jason Shellenberger of Troy; 10 great grandchildren; brothers Warren Jackson, Aubrey Jackson, John Jackson, Van Jackson; sister Ruth Roeth. The family would like to thank the staff at Caldwell House for the care they gave to Clyde during his stay with them. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, December 27, at Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren, 300 E. Monument St, Pleasant Hill. Pastor Nick Beam will officiate with interment following at Pleasant Hill cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Monday at the church. MACY, L. Maxine, Age 95, of Troy, passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2010, at Dorothy Love Retirement Community. She was born August 30, 1915, in Pleasant Hill, to her parents John L. & Ida E. (Landis) Puckett. Maxine was a 1934 graduate of Newton Schools and retired from the Concord School District . She was an active member of the Pleasant Hill First Brethren Church, Friendship Club and Dettmer Auxillary, Troy. She was preceded in death by her husband Orville Macy in 1996; her parents; brothers Jack T. Puckett and Robert L. Puckett; sisters Virginia Puckett and Mary Mae Bowers. She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law Dennis & Linda Macy of Houston, TX. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, December 20, at Jackson-Sarver Funeral Home, 1 S. Main St, Pleasant Hill. Pastor Lynn Mercer will officiate with interment following at Miami Memorial Park cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to Dorothy Love Retirement Community, 3003 Cisco Rd., Sidney, 45365, or First Brethren Church, 210 S. Church St. Pleasant Hill, 45359.

WESTFALL-DUFFY, Marceil, Age 90, of Pleasant Hill, passed away Monday, December 13, 2010, at Covington Care Center. She was born April 4, 1920, in Greenville to her parents Walter & Edith (Bucholtz) Smith. She was a 1939 graduate of Franklin Monroe High School, retired from Hobart Brothers in 1982, and was a member of the Greenville Creek Christian Church for over 65 years. Marceil was preceded in death by her first husband George Westfall; second husband Fredrick Duffy; son Melvin Westfall; sisters Ruth Stapleton, Lillian Motter, Gloria Westfall. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Phyllis & Harvey Wyan of Bradford; step children Tony & Martha Schlechty of Greenville, Brian Duffy of Indiana, Randy & Roseann Hall of Tiffin; grandchildren Bonnie Westfall and Brandy Wyan of Bradford; brother Charles Smith of Greenville; numerious step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, December 17, at Jackson-Sarver Funeral Home. 1 South Main St, Pleasant Hill. Pastor Darryl Peoples will officiate with interment will follow at Pleasant Hill cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM Thursday at the funeral home. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County.

NOBLE, Roberta C. “Bertie”, Age 58, of Covington, passed away Saturday, December 4, 2010, at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy. Bertie was born on October 28, 1952 in Troy to her parents Robert and Edna (Gibboney) Vogler who preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Covington High School and Edison State Community College. On April 3, 1993, Bertie married Garrett Noble and he survives. In the past years, Bertie has worked for the FBI, Ryder Trucking and Dettmer Hospital. Bertie held several positions at Dettmer during her 25 plus years of employment. She was a former member of the Eagles and a life-time member of Dettmer Alumni. She is survived by her loving husband Garrett M. Noble; son Evan Thomas of Pleasant Hill, brothers Tim and wife Melissa Vogler of Buffalo, NY, Terry and wife Sue Vogler of Buffalo, NY; sisters Rita Kindell of Orlando, FL, Dee and husband Joe Warren of Victoria, TX., numerous nieces and nephews and her puppies Misty and Josey. Bertie was preceded in death by brother Duaine Vogler, nephew Scott Kindell and former husband Richard Thomas. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Friday, December 10, at Jackson-Sarver Funeral Home, 10 S. High Street, Covington. Interment will follow at Union cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM Thursday at the funeral home.

Gladys L. Smith, Age 79, passed away Monday, November 29, 2010, at her home in Covington. She was born May 22, 1931, in Millerstown, Ohio, to her parents Harvey James Gates and Margaret Mae (Irwin) Getzindner. She attended Urbana High School and worked at Upper Valley Medical Center in Environmental Services. She enjoyed collecting porcelain dolls and music boxes and loved her family, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband Jackie “Jack” Smith in 2005; sisters Faerie, Evelyn, Anna Edna. She is survived by her children Lynda & Jim Seigle of Piqua, Becky Haddix & Tony Plantz of Troy, Gary L. Smith, Sr. & Linda G. of E. Lynn, WV, Marvin R. & Carol Smith of Covington, David E Haddix of Covington, Jackie Sue of Covington & Michael McClurg of Piqua; grandchildren Joshua Fisher of Fairborn, Gary L. Smith, Jr. & Christine of Anniston, AL, Dan W. & Bonnie Smith of Troy, Anthony W. Smith & Afton Reed of Bradford, Brandi S. Smith of Columbus, Joseph N. Zimmerman of Troy, Heather Ford of Columbus, Sherri Hall of Ludlow Falls, Melissa Westcott of Troy, Robert D. Smith of Troy, Jackie Miller of Troy, Jennifer Smith of Troy, Richard D. Smith of Troy, Jessica McClurg of Covington, Micah McClurg of Piqua; 32 great grandchildren; brother Charles Gates of Urbana; Charlotte Gates of Urbana; special friends Brian “Barney” McKillip, “Pizza Mike”, Aiden Downing. The family would like to to thank the staff and nurses at Hospice of Miami County, especially Donna Huelskamp for the care given to Gladys. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, December 2, at Jackson-Sarver Funeral Home, 10 S. High St., Covington. Pastor Steve Zimbleman will officiate with interment following at Gettysburg cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9-10 AM Thursday at the funeral home. SIEGEL, Virginia, Age 88, of Covington passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at Covington Care Center. She was born September 7, 1923, in Miami County, to her parents the late George K. & Alma (Carman) English. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Frank Siegel in 1990; granddaughter Jenny; brother Kenneth English. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law John & Sharon Siegel of Troy and James & Pam Siegel of Troy; grandchildren Joe & Kathleen Siegel, Jarrod Siegel, Virginia Siegel, William Siegel; great grandchildren Nicole, Nathan, Zachary; sisters and brother-in-law Kathleen Cassidy of Austin, TX, Juanita & Glenn McKee of Idaho. Virginia graduated from Troy High School and was a member of the Wednesday Worker Club. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, December 30, 2011, at Riverside cemetery Chapel, Troy, Ohio. Interment at Riverside cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM Friday at Riverside cemetery Chapel. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Fahnestock, Mary Flick Yarian Smith passed away Sunday February 19, 2012 at the Covington Care Center. Born to parents William and Edna Pearl (Baker) Flick in Bridgewater, VA. The family moved to Covington when Mary was 14 months old and she continued to live in Covington until her death. She graduated from C.H.S., class of 1933 and was retired from General Films. Mary was pre-deceased by her first husband, Noble Yarian, and her second husband, Clyde Smith. Also pre-deceased by son, Thomas Larry Yarian, sister, Halcie Rhoades, three brothers, Claude, Wade, and Warren Flick, and step-daughter and husband, Lee and Steve Davidson. She is survived by her husband, Harold Fahnestock of Troy, brother Bill (Dorothy) Flick of Piqua, sons Wayne (Carol) Yarian of Greenback, TN and Bruce (Sylvia) Yarian of San Francisco, CA, granddaughter Nicole Yarian Morris (Rick) of Loganville, GA, grandsons Joshua (Debra) Davidson of Morrow, OH and Matthew (Ria) Davidson of Mason, OH., great grandchildren Shelby and Reagan Brown and Tanner Wayne Morris, Jessica and Andrew Davidson, and Isabel and Tobin Davidson. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, February 23, at Jackson-Sarver Family Funeral Home, 10 S. High Street, Covington. The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Mary Alice (McCarty) DiPadova 59 of Piqua peacefully passed away in her home on Tuesday February 14, 2012. She was born in Piqua on April 28, 1952 to Harold & Helen (Fries) McCarty. Before she went to be with the lord, Mary grew up in the Piqua-Covington area, but spent a great deal of time living in Long Beach, California. It was there she met her sweetheart, the love of her life Tony DiPadova. They were married in 1981 after they moved back to Ohio to be closer to Mary's family. She was a beloved sister and Aunt to a very large family. She will be sadly missed by sisters, Sandra Beckstedt, Delores Blackburn, and brothers, Sonny and Dan McCarty all of Piqua and her brother Rick McCarty of California. She had a step-daughter, Antonella DiPadova of Italy and 5 Step-grandchildren. She will also be loved and remembered as an ornery Aunt by more than 100 nieces and nephews. Her life was devoted to all of her family, but her most enjoyment in her final days came from her time spent with her special niece Madesan. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister Karen Iddings and two brothers Randy and Fred McCarty and stepson Ferdinando DiPadova. Mary enjoyed working in her gardens and enjoyed collecting nut-cracker figures. She was a treasure hunter and very creative, she loved to make something new out of something old. Her family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at a graveside service on Friday February 17, 2012 at 11am in the Miami Memorial Park cemetery with Pastor Mark Hina officiating. Contributions if so desired can be made to the family or to the American Cancer Society in her memory. The Jackson-Sarver Funeral Home of Covington is entrusted with the arrangements.

BEEMAN, John Eldon, Age 88, of Covington, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2012, at Piqua Manor. He was born March 28, 1923, in Covington, to his parents Charles Ira& Bertha Lavina (Bucholtz) Beeman. John graduated from Covington High School Class of 1941. On August 23, 1947, he married his wife Phyllis Jean (Maurer). John was a WWII veteran serving in the US Army Air Corp from 1942-1946 and in the National Guard from 1939-1941, 1961-1983. He owned and operated Beemans Sohio Service in Covington from 1955-1961. He was an active member of the Piqua American Legion Post #184 for over 60 years, the Covington VFW Post #4235, the Covington Eagles #3998, the Bradford Lodge # 598 F&A.M and Scottish Rite. He was also one of the founders of the Bucc Boosters and was inducted to the Covington Athletic Hall of Fame. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Phyllis Beeman; sons and daughter-in-law David & Doris Beeman of Covington, Charles "Chuck" Beeman of Covington; daughter and sons-in-law Kelly & Larry Lavy of Covington, Herb Gragg of Piqua; grandchildren Rick Rhoades, Rochell Miller, September Beeman & fiancé Justin Grubb, Siler Beeman, Kristina Thompson, Kyle Lavy, Kip Lavy, Kyra Lavy; 8 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Carole Gragg; sister Betty Thompsonl; brothers Carl, Earl, and Robert Beeman. Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 31, at Miami Memorial Park cemetery, Covington. Pastor Ralph Schaafsma will officiate.
